Water fast to JUDDD question

Hi gals
I know I have been away for a little while and some know why I have felt for awhile now I should do a water fast and with everything my body has been through the past few months I felt I really needed to help my body heal by getting out of the way so to speak. I plan on returning to JUDDD after my refeed period and my question is do you think staying on JUDDD post fast will help me keep the weight loss I sustained while on the fast...water weight aside of course. Not sure if any of you lovely JUDDD ladies have had experience with water fasting and going to this WOE but, I would love to hear from you

I have thought of you often and pray you are healing emotionally and physically from your loss.

My opinion and experience is, yes, JUDDD after a water fast will help you maintain your loss. Your glycogen stores will be depleted and if you add a lot of carbs quickly, you can expect a bounce up on the scale. But it will work itself out.

Someone (sorry I can't remember at this second who!) Posted a thread with a like to an article about IF very recently. It's such a great article.

One of the things that stuck in my mind is that after 8 hours of fasting and only drinking lots of water, the glycogen stores are depleted and our bodies begin burning stored fat for energy.

I know from experience when I do a total water fast, I drop pounds quickly but when I eat carbs again the scale goes back up several pounds over night.

Then it levels out.

Mind you I have not done a water fast in a while! The closest I've come lately is to do lots of water and some lean protein; no carbs; just something like a no carb whey isolate protein powder in water or tuna or chicken breast. It works pretty much the same.

Whatever you decide will be great. Let us know how it goes.

It's really good to see you back again DrWTR. I too have thought about you often and hoped you were doing well. I have no experience with water fasting, but just wanted to say "Hi" and welcome you back!

What Yam-Yam said. Including you and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers.

Water fast cleans everything out. What you eat after you stop the fast will have an impact so IF or LCHF is probably a good way to transition back into eating solid foods.

Thx so much for all the prayers and well wishes!! You gals are the best!! I am slowly getting back to normal...I still have days where I burst out in tears for nothing but God is really working things out in me physically and spiritually!! This fast is really what I needed and I am already feeling more balanced. I won't be jumping back on the carb wagon anytime soon...I plan on doing a lot of healthy meals and try to stay moderate carb on up day and low carb on down day. My body needed this chance to heal love all you ladies!!!

Sorry I am late to post. Here's my personal experience: I have done a long (8.5 days) water fast, and then swung back into ADF. Once I had replenished my water/stuff in guts weight, the ADF helped me keep off the weight I had gone down, AND I had another sudden plunge downward about a week after I had resumed ADF.

Coincidentally, I am starting up a long fast again. (Or is it coincidence? Maybe I saw the title of your post, and it prodded me subconsciously?) Still trying to decide if I am going to do 3, 5, or more days(this is Day 3). I'm not weighing myself right now, as I am doing a practice maintenance, but I am just feeling the desire for a seasonal break from food.

Good to see you back here, TardisRose.

Sirtain sounds good I am on day 11 right now...my goal is 21 days but if my body decides different then I will end early thanks for the input...what was your refeeding period like? How long did it go on until you switched over to ADF? Good luck and I'm cheering you on!

I'm feeling really good there are a lot of health issues I was trying to overcome with fasting...I have been fasting for years a few times a year. There are lots of really good books out about the studies and benefits of water fasting Thank you for asking if I am ok...your such a sweetie!!

I did three days of refeeding before doing ADF after my longer fast. (I made this one just 3 days-wanted some of the great stuff from our garden. I find it very hard to resist chard and zucchini!) I ate very little on the first day, quantity-wise, but had a large variety of things. Then more of normal quantities the next two days, then a Down Day.

So, this is Day 13 for you. Are you journalling about it?

No I didn't think about it I have so many emotions I'm getting over after my miscarriage that I haven't had the presence of mind to do much but take care of my son and animals. That is the reason I started this to kind of clean out my system from the miscarriage and start fresh how much water weight did you gain?

I think I went back up about 4 pounds.
I didn't weigh myself this time(I am taking a break from the scale while I practice maintenance) as weight isn't a concern right now. It was more of a cleansing fast, like yours.
Doing a LONG one, like the 21 days you are doing, really appeals to me...for someday. Right now, the shorties (3-8 days) are suiting me just fine.

So good to hear your update. 15 days is amazingly awesome and I'll bet you are feeling physically great. It's so helpful to hear what everyone is doing.

15 days is a great accomplishment. It is good that you were able to listen to your body, and know when it was time for a natural stop. Enjoy your refeed!

Hi Kissa I started out with small 3 oz portions of watermelon every 2 hrs the first day and the second day I did 4 oz of watermelon for half the day then I made a homemade veggie broth that I sipped on the other half of that day. Then the 3rd day I ate steamed veggies and soup...by the 4th day I was still eating fruits and veggies...I kept that up til the 7th day and then started adding meat once my digestive system was working again. Hope that's not too confusing

Very interesting. I have never tried a lengthy fast and didn't realise it was so important to be that gentle with your digestion. Fascinating.

Oh yea...your digestive system totally shuts down and you have to bring it back gently or you could really hurt yourself
