How is your DD going? (Part 3)

So...how is your DD going today?

Scale (worst to best)
1 - Miserable, I want to crawl in a hole and hide util tomorrow
2 - Not so great, I want chocolate
3 - OK
4 - Not so bad, I guess DD's have a good side too
5 - Awesome! I have so much energy and I don't even want food!

(Borrowed from Avicenna as her original thread is now closed because of its size.)

l'autour, don't feel badly. We've all done it, and you realized what you were doing and put a stop to it. Good for you! You can do this!

I'm glad to hear you have your hypoglycemia under control. Were you having lots of problems with it?

Thank you for this clean paper, Seabreezes.
DD for me: I am sure it will be rough as I am not well nourished from my up day yesterday. I ate crap and with very little to no control.

Oh goody, confessional! Yesterday, I ate when I wasn't hungry. 200 calories worth just because it tasted good. Then a little more. And a little more. I counted it ALL, though.

Today, I woke up HUNGRY, but now after having half my lunch, I feel fine. So I'm giving today a 4 so far. Looking forward to UD tomorrow b/c eating out lunch and dinner. It's motivating me to stay the course today. Sunday should be okay as a DD since I will be outside and working with horses much of the day. Nice distraction!

I'd say today is a 3 for me.

I'm new here but I started JUDDD last Friday. I had sinus surgery Wednesday morning and I'm still recuperating. Yesterday was supposed to be a DD for me but that didn't happen :-) Today seems to be ok as a DD so I'm carrying on!

As an aside, I'm on 5 days of prednisone and I'm worried it's causing a lot of bloating so I'm going to stay away from the scale for a little while.

Today is my 4th DD, and it's a little rough, but I brought it on myself.

I ate fairly healthy yesterday until late afternoon, then walked past a box of cookies at the office one too many times and finally dove in. By "box" I mean a case of Lorna Doone snack packs--I had three packs before I finally decided to get out of the office last night.

I did count them all, and went a couple hundred calories over my normal calories, so it wasn't too awful. But I knew it would bite me today. I do DD's best when my previous evening calories are lowcarb and high protein.

Today, not only is the half case of cookies still out there, but on walking into the office this morning I was greeted by the smell of a fresh waffle breakfast bar that the department next to ours concocted. . . because it's Friday.

I have to walk through that department to get to the restroom--which I do more on DD's because of all the water I drink, lol. Whaddaya gonna do?

But I am having a Quest cookies and cream bar for lunch today and there will be no cookies or waffles. Tonight will be tuna salad for dinner and Fage yogurt for my late snack.

Probably lowest day ever, so far . But I haven't kept busy so all I've done is think about food (and moaned in my head because the weather just went yucky. 45 degrees this morning. YUCK!) I had a good UD yesterday, and a good down day, wed. Funny though, I was looking forward to dinner, and then realized I wasn't hungry (since that never happens) so I decided to not eat dinner. Later on I remembered that I had eaten chicken and not logged it, so I really didn't have the calories left. So glad I decided to listen to body. Same thing yesterday, I was going to eat several times because of the clock and decided not to, left me some calories for a kids birthday party I went to. So was still under cal after hotdogs and a shared cupcake. Time to find something to do so I think of something else!

DD going well so far. They are having a pot luck in my department and I sit right beside it. I asked my boss if I could sit in a coworkers office in a different area since she is away. He asked why and I told him I didn't want to smell food all day and it would be noisy and he agreed to let me move for the day. So pretty happy about that. I have gone to my area few times and it smells really good but I am not caving...

Did really great today. Drank lemon iced tea with splenda and just made every one their food.
Dinner time I ate lettuce with some Kens lite dressing (40 cal), 2.5 devilled eggs (350cal), tblspoon of stove top and tablespoon of meat loaf = 100 cals. So total about 500 cals.
I'm actually hungrier than before I ate now.

That seems to be the case many times Party. I know that I can withstand hunger longer if I don't eat sometimes. Hang in there!

I did exactly that today. I decided I could eat lunch, which I never do on a DD. Soon I was eating leftover pizza about an hour later. These Friday's off are going to be the death of dieting for me if I let it. I really want to get on schedule and quit having to have MWF DDs because I cave on the weekends lol. Tempted to do another UD tomorrow, just so next week is not yet again MWF DDs. Oh well...

I am an early morning person/eater so it is tough for me to just not eat until lunch. My goal is to not eat until dinner eventually on DD's. Just not there yet.

LG - DD's are much easier when you are at work and away from temptation but it is awesome to get that extra day off. I am new at this but do you ever do medium days?

Better than usual DD, probably because I left the house after 93 calories, got busy with interesting stuff in good company (it helps that my sister and I have synchronized our down days) and had a "just the right size" dinner waiting in the freezer when I got home. I even have enough calories left to enjoy some Fage Greek yogurt for a bedtime snack.

L'Autour, you said in the previous thread that just closed that you had learned how to handle hypoglycemia. I'd be very interested in hearing how you do that. Thanks much.

I try to think of DDs as prep for the upcoming UD, but lately, the DDs just feel like "penance" for the preceding UD, because of my recent tendency to go way over calories on social UDs. It's a problem when eating with others. I lose touch with myself and never feel full and keep going and going. Very frustrated this morning!

Try not to be frustrated...Either way you look at it you are still creating a calorie defecit and losing - you're doing something! I have the same problem. I'm hungry (or food tastes so good I don't want to stop) and then bam! tummy ache from over eating.
It is frustrating, but just like Pavlov's dog - eventually we will learn that behavior sucks and quit doing it!
That's my hope anyways.

Today is my DD and so far I've drank 26 oz water. I think this will be a new habit I start. First part of the day 26 oz of water before eating, or drinking anything else.
I am curious if this will help the DD go smoother (and UD for that matter) and keep hunger off for longer.

We got our community supported agriculture box yesterday - so many beautiful, fresh, local, organic veggies! I should have no problem today eating plenty of good food and keeping my calories at 500.

Just willpower. All I need!

Hi all. I have been taking a maintenance break and following Atkins 72. Maintained but with fresh veggie season upon us I just want to eat lots of veggies so I think I am ready to return to JUDDD and maybe even lose those 10 Christmas pounds I still have with me. This is my first DD in many months and since I always ate breakfast on DD's I started my day with two eggs, coffee and HWC. It is a 3 for sure right now and I have lots to do to keep me busy. Glad to be back.

DD today is much better than Friday. Maybe a 4 at this point. I had a protein bar at 2pm, otherwise, just water so far today.

I've never really considered the amount of sleep before a DD as a factor, but considering that I slept a LOT last night, and badly Thursday night, I wonder if it has a big impact. . .

Since I didn't get a down day yesterday after all, I'm going for one again today. I like to DD on Mondays anyway, because I record a weekly weight on Tuesdays. For various reasons, I have been having more down than up days (those "various" reasons being UUADs). When I look at my weekly/monthly calories, I want to see an even amount of up/down, but I see more like 3 UDs (with at least one "in the red")and 4 DDs. I want to be back on my even schedule, so that is my goal for now, more than a weight or a certain amount of calories--just staying close to JUDDD numbers, EOD.

Glad to see you back, Adi! I agree, summer can be really tough on LC with all the lovely, fresh produce. Especially for you with it right in your yard! JUDDD sounds like a great summer plan. Plus, how else can you imbibe in your ice cream?

I have attempted many, but have successfully only done unintended MDs where a DD was supposed to happen. I find doing an MD after a DD difficult, mainly because I "expect" a UD after a DD, but it is do-able and some manage quite well.

I hear you! I have not been overeating really, but eating too much junk food/candy. Plus, I am behaving like I have nothing else to lose and managing only 2-3 DDs a week. Really need to buckle down now.

Sleep is HUGE for me, both to prepare me for a DD (or to keep a UD from turning into a UUAD) and to stay within my calorie limit on any day. It seems that my body demands energy from someplace, and if I don't get enough sleep, or I stay up too late, what it can't get from sleep it insists on getting from food, especially carbs. My worst overeating is done late at night.

I'm a 4 today! Was planning on a very low day - however, decided to have fish fingers, chips & peas for dinner - but I'm still at 418 cals for the day - I'm very happy with that!!!

I really have to stop looking at some of the sites I usually visit for recipe ideas on DD's - it is making me hungry DD going ok so far. I had a 50cal greek yogurt and will have some veggie soup and a Ryvita cracker for lunch.
