Hi all -- another REnewbie here.

Not sure anyone will remember me (and this is a new profile pic) I can't believe I've been gone so long--had to dig around in my old posts to see how long it's been, and I dropped out in early January 2013. And I regret it.

I was only here for about 4 months the first time, but I had started JUDDD in August 2012 and was down 18 lbs by early January (which included holiday eating). Honestly, I don't remember what happened after that--whether I was struggling after the holidays or dealing with work and family stress. Probably both.

Anyway, I faded out after that, regained 15 of the 18 that I worked so hard for, and never really got back in the saddle after that. It was a stressful year. But I really need to get back to it, and to be on a plan flexible enough to deal with lots of social eating events and business travel. JUDDD is the only thing I can think of that comes close.

So I heard there was a new Johnson book out, and I bought it, and today I just finished my third mostly pain-free DD.

I do remember that when I started fading out last time, there was much board discussion about tweaks and BPCs and potato hacks and it all became very overwhelming and discouraging to me, like there was never going to be a plan that's good enough (although I do regularly add coconut oil to my coffee now for health benefits).

But this time I really need to just focus tightly on the basic plan, keep a grip on the UDs, and see if this can actually work for me long term. I keep thinking it *should.* Right?

Anyway, it's very inspiring to see how well KeirasMom and Carly are doing after all this time. I want to be you when I grow up.

Here goes. . .

Welcome Marla.

And thanks for all of the warm welcomes from everyone. I just finished my first week and am happy to report a 4.5lb loss. I feel great and although it feels tough some days overall it was really pretty painless. Of course that could be the excitement of an UD today talking

Welcome, Marla and a big 'WELL DONE' , Joy!

The only thing I watch besides my calorie cycling on JUDDD is my pasta and bread intake. For some reason even a few of those calories wreck havoc with me. For the most part I do what our dear KISSA has at the bottom of her posts: Relax, rotate, reduce, rejoice.
Blessings,
P

back Marla! I remember you too. It's great that you found yourself migrating back to JUDDD, and good job getting those first few DDs under your belt.

Joy, you've done fantastic this week! WTG!

Pat, you are doing terrific too! I'm so impressed with you!

Marla! I remember you too. I always advocate doing the plan without tweaks as much as possible, which is funny since I'm tweaking all over the place in maintenance. BUT, when I was losing, I followed strict rotations and used my calculated calories for both UD and DD pretty much religiously. You can do it!

I did straight calorie counting for about a year, but I've tried combining LC and JUDDD a few times. It seems like a good idea, but I think restricting calories and certain foods is just too much for me mentally. Good job if you can stick with it!

May newbie checking in! Been doing the EOD thing for the last week (not M W F) and have lost a pound (I'm 1.5 weeks in.) Was hoping for a little more so I guess I'm not as comfortable with slow loss as I thought - lol! It's okay though - the number is going in the right direction and I am LOVING having some carbs and wine on UDs - woo hoo! I think I'm a JUDDD convert.

Hope all my other May newbie buddds are doing well!

Well done Mama2zoe, if you were doing LC before, sometimes the addition of the carbs back in your diet can slow the initial weight loss down - as you can get the post lcarb weight jump - just keep it up and it should work for you!

Great job Mama2zoe! Vicky is right about adding back carbs. Plus, some folks just take a few weeks to start seeing the losses for some reason. Either way, like you said, you're losing, and that's what we all want!

Hi Mama2zoe! Welcome!

Yesterday I finished my supposed "DD" with 1800 calories. Not quite the 500 I was aiming for but still in Weight loss mode area (even with taking my weight 50 pounds down on the calculater and putting no exercise I am allowed 2600 cals) ---
Oh well.
I'll just do a reasonable UD today and get back in the DD saddle tomorrow.
Yesterday was kind of stressful - I'm unsure why, really.

I ended up with 3 UDs over the weekend - oops - never mind, I didn't gain weight every day - so it doesn't hurt to not lose every day!

I agree with everyone else- probably just water weight from adding back carbs. NBD!

That's the right idea ^^^^ JUDDD is forgiving when we have an occasional blip.

Another re-newbie joining the ranks! Like others (although not all) I quit journalling my calories and just eating whatever and boom.........up goes the weight! We were 2 months in Australia where our son lives and actually think I lost a bit of weight down there but back to cold, frigid Canada and sitting on my behind....up goes the weight....it's called nibble, nibble. I cook relatively low carb and have tried 5:2 but that does not seem to be enough of a deprivation for me so here I am back to JUDD. It works (just look at Dawn), she is such an inspiration. I have followed her on *** and she is such a wonderful leader.

Anyhow, I am back and I plan to meet my goal this time....after all if I can quit smoking for 3 years after smoking for 40....I think I can lose 20 lbs....right!

Good Job Mama2Zoe. All of those pounds add up and it is better than going in the other direction.

Welcome Donna! You're absolutely right - if you can quit smoking you've got this!

Thanks everyone for the feedback about the carbs. That makes sense - if that's what's happening the carbs are definitely worth it.

I'm loving reading about how it's okay to have a day that doesn't go as planned or several UDs in a row as long as you get back to the rotations. I find that really liberating and it makes me think this WOE can be done for life. So happy to have found this board!

Hi Mama2zoe The best thing about JUDDD is that it is a very high self esteem giving way of eating. You mess up, you know you can fix it. You want to do LC but miss fruit? Juddd fixes that...and so on.

I can definitely see that I've lost - I'm going to guess 15 pounds since 3/16 (was sick for 10 days), but thats only what I can *see*. I feel like 10 of those pounds are just in the last month with JUDDD.
I have felt good while doing it also. Thats the great thing.
Hope you'll stick around. Nicest group of ladies here!
