Happy to hear that your puppy has improved. They are really cute.

The boys baseball game got rained out last night so came home and kept busy. Looking forward to my UD. Does anyone else get excited when it is their UD?

Good morning!!
I certainly miss reading and posting here. I do track my weigh ins daily but have been sick for almost 3 weeks now. I probably will have to break down and see the doc for some antibiotics as I am not able to shake this. Lots of coughing and loss of sleep. I am feeling pretty worn down.
Dawn, I love you for taking in those puppies. Thank you from all the animal lovers.
Did you guys see the video that CNN had on yesterday of a cat saving a little boy from a dog attack? It is worth checking out.
I may be remiss in posting but I have each of my JUDDD BUDDDs in prayer daily.
Blessings,
P

Glad you popped in, Carly. I was thinking you weren't around quite as much lately. Take care!

Joy, it's always good to wake up on an UD and think, I can eat!

Slow, I'm not sure about JD. I miss her around here.

Pat, do get to the doctor! If you're still feeling icky after all this time, you must need something to help. I've been missing you!

No, but I have a good friend who is very persuasive and persistent. If her schedule permits, she is going to come along with me for moral support; if anyone can get me a refund, Silvia can. And I DO have a lawyer friend who will send the offending party a letter demanding a refund, for a VERY small fee.

Also if the woman refuses to give me a refund I am planning to go to small claims court. It's the principle of the thing; she can't be allowed to get away with this kind of shoddy work, not if it is ruining women's faces! Not to mention the nasty Yelp I will give her. Plus, if I have to take her to small claims court, I will be going after her for the cost of the repair as well. It really is in her best interest to just give me the refund ($250) rather than take the chance of having to pay me $850 (plus the filing fee) if I win in court.

PUPdate:

DH just texted me the following from the vet's office:

"No parvo, vet gave antibiotic and stuff to deworm both pups. She also agreed healthy amount of Doberman in her. Says overall she looks fine, just need to get her fatter."

She's been eating, but is very finicky. She doesn't like either of the canned foods we tried, won't go near the dry stuff, doesn't even want cheese. So far, her favorite is lunch meat. Oy, need to find a food she'll eat that might actually be HEALTHY for her.

Pat, get thee to a doctor! Thinking of you.

Dawn - for our pup we fed: 1 lb ground beef, 1 sweet mashed sweet potato, coconut oil, eggs - raw. We also fed Nuvet vitamins. Love those.
That much food there would last a couple days of meals. Maybe try that to get her in the habit of eating?

Except I don't cook! I could probably throw some meat (chicken or beef) in the crock pot, maybe a little rice or something. Hmm. Off to google.

Dawn, I second the ground meat/potato option. Any meat, any root veg or even brown rice. A combo we have also used is thin oatmeal, cooked and hot, with an egg stirred in. You can make this in the microwave. or mix the root veg or oatmeal with chopped cooked chicken or canned mackerel. Additionally, fish and potato or fish and grain are super cheap options.

I just came back from a free health screening at work. It was not known that it would be here today (a mobile Walgreens), so had already eaten, etc. They took blood and measured glucose, cholesterol, BP, and BF on a digital scale. My cholesterol was higher than I've ever known it - 291- glucose was 97 (non-fasting) - BP 111/72 - and BF 47%!!!!!!! BMI 30.4, Visceral fat 10, RMR 1495.

My weight was 1 lb over my morning weight naked. I'm wearing jeans and they usually add 2 lbs, so that was good. According to these numbers it said my "body age" is 62.

Awww, Cindy. Your cholesterol might have been high from whatever you had for lunch. But anyway, you are smack dab in high gear of doing something about all of those things--body fat, etc., so stay strong and keep going! Keep your numbers, because they will change.

Pat, honey, coughing is so tiring. Please get something to stop it. I had such a bad time with a nonending cough a few years ago, I now hoard some strong prescription medication so I can nip it in the bud. Because, once it starts, well, you know...!

Love the cat attacking the dog. I saw an article interviewing the family. I was wondering, why, at the end of the video, the mother leaves the child on the ground. She says she heard the dog coming back around the car from the other direction and went to head it off. I believe she was also bitten. Bad situation. Good cat.

I'm relieved to hear about your pup, Dawn! Now you can relax and just find them a good home or homes. Except for that pesky cooking for the dogs thing!

Cindy, I'm sorry your readings weren't so favorable. But think about how much improved they must be over what they were before you started losing weight. And you're going in the right direction!

The cat vs dog video was really something. Very impressive cat, I must say. My only question was......how come the camera shots were so perfect from two different vantage points?

I was pleased with some of the tests, i.e., BP, BG and visceral fat was pretty good considering they said I was 47% BF. It was a digital scale, so I doubt it was that accurate, but the blood tests and the BP were done right. The entire session took less than an hour, and most of it was waiting. I could have done the BF on my own scale. I suspect it's lower than that, but probably still quite high. BMI was just based on my height and weight, and I already knew that. Anyway, for free it was worth it.

Stopping by to say that my dear DIL's parents home burned to the ground in San Marcos. It was one of the three that went up in flames last night and if you were watching the news, it was the one with the arches.

We have been there many times for many lovely occasions. They built the home and have lived in it 34 years. DIL was raised there her whole life. Very, very sad day for all of us.

They had nothing but the clothes on their backs when evacuated.

All prayers and good thoughts for them will be appreciated.

Dawn - glad it was all sorted with the pup. Yay for no Parvo!
Yam - Prayers for your family.

I got yelled at on the phone today from someone in Southern California who was unhappy with some test results she got. Somehow she owns a dog who is up here, or is connected with this dog and it came in for some evaluation. She wasn't happy with how her dog performed so, of course, its our fault. After spending 4 days screaming at my staff on the phone, I finally got on the phone with her this afternoon. She was yelling at me too, and said, "Well, I guess we just do things differently down here in Southern California." I said, "Yes, apparently you do. Because up here in Washington, we've learned that screaming at people and being rude rarely gets you what you want and, instead, we're nice to people when we're asking them to go out of their way to do us favors." <crickets> It was awesome. Suddenly, somehow, she calmed down and actually kinda listened after that. She still wasn't happy because she wasn't hearing what she wanted to hear, but it was kinda fun to put her in her place.

Oh, Yam Yam, I did watch CNN coverage of the fires and saw the clip of your DIL's family home. So many prayers for all. Bless their hearts.

So glad for the puppy news!

I am still sick and coughing my head off. I will make an appointment w/ the doc today. I just can't let it go any longer. You guys are right. Thank you for caring.

I had a huge lesson yesterday. I. am. not. healed. in any way, shape or form with regard to my food issues. I saw 165 on the scale at weigh in yesterday. Straight up 165 (my goal weight). What did I do? Binge. My first binge since January of this year. I didn't feel the thrill (at seeing my goal weight) that I felt w/ entering the new decades as I lost my weight. I didn't feel any sense of accomplishment. I just was rather numb. I didn't cry with joy as I have on several occasions during this journey. I am so confused abut myself. Maybe it has to do w/ being so sick? I just dunno. It was not a full blown binge as I was able to stop myself and fast the rest of the day. But it was surely eating my feelings and eating junk and eating with no thought or control. I am sure that today will be a rough down day as I am NOT nourished (I don't think Cheesecake is good preparation for a smooth down day LOL) I have lots of work to do as losing weight is not the sum total of the battle I face.
Oh, and since I am a lover of irony: I JUDDDED myself in a complete circle. When I started this journey I had very few clothing items to choose from and now I am in that very same boat. I blew past my 16s and didn't even notice that I have also blown past my 14s. I don't have one single pair of capris that fit for the summer. My 'tops/blouses' look like large bags on me. (Maybe that won't matter as it is actually spitting snow flakes here today) My nice jammies all fit well so maybe I will just spend my life in bed?! LOL
I have so much to learn about myself.
I thank God I have you guys to process this with.
How can I be 66 years old and still not peaceful with food after all these years?
All I want is to be at peace with my body and with my relationship with food......Just some peace.
Thanks for listening.
Big hugs all around.
P

Pat, I don’t know how far we ever heal from our issues, but we’re making progress. Sometimes I feel embarrassed to be in my 50s and still trying to work out how to live .

My new tankini arrived this morning. But I still have two months to wait before my holidays .

to you and your family, Yam. Such a devastating blow, yet so good that no one was injured.

Pat, you are not alone in your struggles. We're all working on ourselves and learning. It's difficult, but hopefully, eventually rewarding.

Jen, sorry to hear that you've had to deal with another rude client. Good that you put her in her place and I know that felt good too! I think most people are good at heart, if they have a chance.

We had rain all day yesterday and last night, and needed it! I just came back from my morning walk and there was a refreshing coolness to the air. Of course, the heat is going to take it away very soon, but it was nice. Hope everyone is enjoying their day!
