Just popping in to say hi.

I've been holed up with a bad cold all week and definitely haven't been JUDDDing.
I'm off on hols (again !!) next week, so I've been taking couch potatoing very seriously, as I'm determined not to take a bad cough with me.

Hugs to all.

An update on my BIL: He has stage 4 cancer so now the only thing to do is pray for his comfort, pain management and to let him know he is dearly loved.

Also, my DD has been in and out of the hospital. She says she is feeling better every day, but she is still having some issues like serious anemia.
Big hugs Yam, for all you and your family are dealing with.

We're taking a super short 3 day from LA to Ensenada and back. We took the same cruise last year and had a blast. Eventually we'd like to take a longer cruise, but between work and finances, it hasn't worked out yet.

Yam, so sorry to hear about your BIL's continued struggle. Also, hope your daughter gets to feeling better soon!

Dawn, your trip sounds perfect to me. One day I'm going to do something fun like that.

Yay for me, it's Friday here. This week is the start of our summer hours and Friday's off.

Just catching up on the thread. I can't comment on everything, or I would be exceeding the post limits! I have been busy, busy. The most exciting things going on are college kids home for summer and out garden going like gangbusters. I love all this talk of tattoos and cruises. I have two tattoos, a peony for happiness and a carp for long life. I am another one of those people who doesn't look like 'the type' to have a tattoo. People are always surprised.

Sounds fun, Dawn.

DH just found one on Princess Cruiselines that leaves from San Francisco and ends up in Vancouver. It's a 4 day and kinda sounds fun. But, we would have to fly back to Sacramento.

I want to keep looking and try to find one that comes back to the same port maybe.

Anyone have any great plans for Mother's Day? My DD and grandkids and DH are planning to take me out for a Mother's Day dinner to celebrate. That sounds fun.

I have GOT to get back to my rotations! At this point I may as well wait until Monday and make that a DD and try to get on a roll. We have plans for today and tomorrow and they involve food and friends.

I might not be able to check back in here until Monday. Hope you all have a great weekend.

Just dropping in to say Hi, hope everyone is doing well. Not reading or posting much these days except exercise. Trying to still work off the vacation gain, losing 11 pounds in the first 5 days back was nice but then I went to a get together and had pizza and cake and screwed that all up jumping back up 5 pounds. I figured the running around at laser tag might mitigate some of that but no. I did come in #4 out of 33 in the first round and #2 out of 43 in the second so I did pretty good and I was moving the whole time but not enough to overcome the effects of so many carbs.

I find myself second guessing what I should be doing to further my progress and thinking about switching focus too many times. I really want to drop down to 190 pounds or less and I really want to get to 10% body fat and I really want to gain strength. All at the same time. I think I can successfully do 2 out of the 3 things at the same time but not all 3 so I need to figure out what is most important and what to really focus on.

I'm thinking that if I drop the strength gain goal and just seek to maintain my strength and go on a cut, with a deficit on both rest days and workout days that I can achieve the weight and BF goals so I think that is what I will be doing. Probably cycling calories on workout days and rest days, and looking at the week total calories instead of individual days making sure by the end of the week the average meets my overall deficit goal.

I'm sure I will change my mind by the end of the day!

Hope everyone has a great Mother's Day.

Hi Shari! I'm still working on HDE too. It's hard for me. I don't feel like I'm allowing myself to scratch much deeper than the surface of the "why's" yet, and that may be because I don't want to hear the truth yet. Still working on it!

Boy, I've been going through the same feelings Mike, not quite knowing what I want to focus on. I really want to lose the fat, but I don't want to backslide on my resistance training. Blah blah blah. I want it all! Let us know what you decide to do, because I'm always interested hearing about the balancing act and how other people are managing it.

I'm currently working on Body By Science with a trainer. We're still in the assessment stage but it feels like one inadvertent humiliation after another as he keeps setting what he thinks are low resistance weights for some of the exercises but then has to keep dropping the levels as I can't shift them.

I have to keep reminding myself that the muscle quality of what I have is decent but I just don't have much muscle. I think the trainer's a tad baffled as I have excellent muscle control and coordination, and I look healthy (which I am), but I literally don't have the muscle. We'll see how it progresses after a few weeks and I'll look into Body by You/the women's version of You Are Your Own Gym for later this year.

Good luck SS! I have no doubt you'll build a bit of muscle and gain strength in the process.

We're off to the coast, taking MIL out to lunch today. I have no idea what the food plans are going to involve, but I have zero stress about it since I'm following HDE. This is new to me, and I'm pretty excited to get the chance to flex my new HDE/IE muscles.

I could do HDE if I lived on my own, but it just doesn’t work for me when I’m with other people or eating in restaurants. I know I don’t want the food. I don’t even enjoy it, but I can’t manage to resist the social pressure.

I've gotten better with the social pressure. I refuse to eat when I'm not hungry or I don't like something. I just feel that my weight and health are more important to me than what others think about what I did or didn't put in my mouth.

I think DW gets a bit annoyed sometimes, but for the most part she is use to it and she knows I'll eat if I'm hungry. It seems now she will comment more when I've eaten a lot for me. She will say something like "You must have been hungry I'm glad you liked ____"

My husband doesn’t bother usually. And it’s easy on his fasting days! Other people and restaurants are tricky though. And there are always those, “I know I’ve had enough but it’s really nice so I’m going to eat it anyway,” moments! For now, navigating my way around all that most of the time, with one or two down days per week to compensate for the excesses seems to be working.

I don't think I ever feel pressure to eat something I don't like, or to eat when I'm not hungry. I just like most foods, and I'm rarely so not hungry that I can't eat something. On DDs I say I'm not hungry, even though I am...usually I say I don't want anything, not, "I'm not hungry". If I ever eat too much or eat when I shouldn't, it's always my own fault.

I'm glad you're working with a trainer on this Slow, and I hope he can guide you through the process and help you build up your strength. I'm sure you will. For the first time in my life, I am actually feeling great increases in strength in myself. I don't think my muscles are any bigger, but they sure are firmer. Now, to get rid of the fat layer on top......a problem you don't have! I hope you love YAYOG as much as I do.

Dawn, your day sounds really fun. I'm so glad you're feeling so at ease with HDE, and you're maintaining beautifully with it!

I think I have gotten past the social pressure of eating, or mostly anyway. My problem is when I'm confronted with really good foods that I want, or don't have access to very often, I just want them. I don't eat out at restaurants very often anymore, maybe a couple of times a month, and so when I do go, I want to enjoy those foods. So I'm safer to make sure those days are UDs.

Thanks Cindy! This is so not me - I am NOT workout girl! But I love this feeling of challenging myself and being able to feel changes. Who knew?!?

I'm glad you love the workouts Carol! I'm afraid I'm not getting much stronger, but my stamina and endurance has improved greatly. I still have trouble opening heavy doors and I'm like WTH, but I end up needing help to pull certain doors open (especially the employee door at work )

I don't know if it's a height issue or because of no movement in my spine or I'm just plain weak...

I just got in from another trip to buy bras, but this time I lucked out. I got 3 at Nordstrom Rack. All 3 came to less than $80. I got one Wacoal, one Chantelle and one Natori. Two of them were $28 and one was $22- they were all originally $80 a piece

WOE: Controlled carb, real food
I’ve just ordered a tankini. I haven’t worn a swimsuit for about 20 years, but I really like the idea of at least having the option this summer!
