Planelman- I've seen several posts from your in daily threads stating you went heavy on carb the day before, etc. What does a normal "heavy" carb day look like for you, if you don't mind.

Bulletproof Coffee, so it is blended in with my coffee, and I don't eat any solid food until around 2pm each day.

Since I have been LC or VLC a heavy carb day for me is anything >100g. I stick to around 25g net carbs each day but occasionally I will have a planned carb re-feed where I intentionally eat 300g-400g of carbs.

If you plan on transitioning from LC to non-LC you will likely gain some weight initially but it will eventually even out and you will lose that initial weight gain. But just because JUDDD doesn't care about carbs your body might, some people switch to JUDDD so they can have carbs again but quickly find out that they need to stay LC or moderate carbs to make it work and deal with hunger on DD's.

I found that LC worked better for me and allowed me to get enough protein over the UD/DD. I also exercise a lot so I found that low DD's did not work out for me very well and I ended up with higher DD's early on. I only did JUDDD for about 3 months to specifically lost the last 10 pounds and ended up losing the last 20+ pounds.

Oh, we have lots of members who remain LC while eating JUDDD's pattern.

If you want to stop LC, you have two choices:

Just stop, reintroduce carbs, take the weight upward bounce that might happen (and be prepared for a few days of 'carb flu' as your body adjusted to digesting carbs), and just get on with JUDDD.

or

Reintroduce carbs one at a time in small amounts - gradually step down from LC.

Either way works. Whatever is right for you, is right.

I ate LC on JUDDD for a month until the Magic was firmly established. Then gradually reintroduced carbs. For me, that worked very well.

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.

Thanks again for the information. I'm going to give this a good eight week test run and see where I'm at and reevaluate. Looking forward to see what I can do.

DH is a combination of very sedentary job and reasonably active in leisure time (we both cycle, kayak and weight train).

His WOE is moderate protein, lower carb to a JUDDD schedule as he has diabetes II on both sides of his family and I'm doing my best to make sure that he doesn't develop it. When I say lower carb, he probably has <30g carbs on a DD and up to 65g on a non-active UD but up to 120g on a very active UD (e.g., white water kayaking with lots of portages).

Two weeks in and I'm really enjoying this WOE thus far....my stats call for 3k/600, but admittedly I'm falling at about 2200/350 thus far....I have issues on up days letting myself eat the calories....I know it's mental but I'm working on it....I think it's like I feel the need to punish myself for getting this overweight and the UD doesn't allow that or something....I'm gonna work to get those UD up closer to 3k, but I'm comfortable at 350 on the DD so it's my plan to keep the DD that low....anyone see an issue there or see self sabotage happening here lol?

I haven't remained LC, did what Dawn suggested and jumped in the deep end without my swimmies....I've gone from to 284 to 277 thus far which I'm very pleased with considering the carb jump as well..

There's no need for punishment with JUDDD. Eat your UD calories, or at least as many as you're comfortable with (and preferably close to that 3000 if you can), and enjoy the heck out of them!

You are doing awesome! Enjoy your UD!!! Do it for all us ladies that have UDs under 1600

Your calories will drop as you loose (and get older) have a blast and savor every bite!

On JUDDD we get to have our cake, eat it and lose weight, too!

Happy Dance for ab_54!!!

That is a great weight loss - especially since you added carbs back!!

DDs should be at or below your calculated amount. If you feel like eating nothing on DD, try it. Just watch how you feel. I always felt super-good on super-low DDs.

Oddly, the amount I ate on DD never had an impact on my weight loss speed.

Reached my 1 month mark and I'm down 15 lbs from 284 to 269. I've got to say, I'm extremely happy with the results and the process that far. The thing I enjoy about this compared to other WOE/weight loss plans is the simplicity of the down day. I fast till dinner and just eat something quick about 7pm. Food is a complete afterthought on those days. It seems you would obsess about food but that's not the case at all. I said I'd give it 8 weeks and I see no reason I can't make it to goal on this plan, but for now, here's to another four weeks. Cheers.

This is a great thread, thanks to all who posted. I appreciate the male perspective/feedback as I'm planning to start this with my husband...just trying to decide if it would be easier to do it through a holiday weekend or wait till after LOL. In a lot of ways there wouldn't be a huge change at first anyway on UD because we are low carbing it.

Welcome, Deanie! It's up to you, but if you plan to celebrate or have family to entertain, it might be best to wait lol. Of course, these types of holidays are all year round, so we have to adapt. If you start tomorrow with a DD, Monday will be a UD.

Thanks! There will be regular low carb bbq fare but due to something in 2 weeks we want to line up an UD for, we decided to wait to start our first DD next Weds.

Since we've got 2 weeks of induction and plan to stay fully low carb during that time the biggest changes for the first 2 weeks is just counting calories every day and cutting calories on DDs. It's been super quiet here at work today so I have basically been reading 2 years of posts for DD recipes. It's so cool to get all those years of knowledge and information but it's kinda sad to not be able to participate since all those conversations happened so long ago lol.

I'll post how the first DD went on Thurs Have a great holiday weekend, all!

2 month mark is today. I'm now at 255. So 14 lbs in last month, and 29 total with juddd. 49 lbs total with the 20 lost low carb prior to starting on March 10th. Still have had no issues and feel great with great energy. To another successful month.

Well done you. .. I'm only on my 2nd week and I've dragged my husband along with me... I'm going to tell him about u to keep him motivated cos I think he thinks going without food for just one day will instantly make him lose weight lol... I keep telling him 2lbs a week is a good goal to aim for but If I tell him a stone (14lbs) is possible too he might just keep him going.. Keep up the good work and looking forward to seeing your progress x

It's been another four weeks, and three months are now in the books, and I'm still plugging along. I was 245 this morning, so down ten lbs. this month. 39 total on Juddd and 59 down total. I'm not making any goal weights or anything yet or even thinking about maintenance, I feel I'm just going to continue doing what I'm doing and when it's time to evaluate those things I'll know. Our family is going to Disney in October, and I'm excited I'll have no issues riding the rides with my daughter as long as I don't fall off the wagon. That was a big motivation for me. Also to be able to trek the parks daily without my weight being a hindrance on what we want to do. Really a blessing I found this WOE, as it's been the best WOE to actually fit into daily life I've done. My wife has joined me and has lost 27 lbs as well. She has much less to lose and always struggles to get it off, so she's glowing daily about this WOE as well. Have another couple and another buddy from high school that are all doing this with more than 15 lbs lost as well. They've all bought in and ran with it. This and Tom Venuto's book the Body Fat Solution have hit home with me and I feel like I'm understanding nutrition and emotional eating now, and that's comforting going forward that I won't yo-yo after doing it for 11 years.

Just wanted to check in as I dont' post much, but still going.
