My Evil DD

So, ok, it is my first DD. From past experience I can see that this evil thing is still trying to best me. I absolutely can maintain at 450-500 cals/day but just get too deprived if I have to go less. Oh, I know, listen to your stomach. Well I did and it says "Eat Stupid!". If my UD's are 1450-1500 ish will this still work?

Praying for no appetite.

What about a low cal snack? Or have you topped out on cals? A big glass of water helps. Sleep helps too! Lol!

Hi Suze,

None of us can say what will work for you for sure, but 500 is the standard DD calories for the first two weeks (you're restarting, right?). After that, you can decide where on the JUDDD calculator you feel and lose best ... 20% or less? 25%? 35%? People have lost on all of those DD levels.

If your goal is to do a low DD, I think it might be harder to do if it's been a challenge to get close to your UD calories.

I'd stick with 500 DDs until you feel more ready to go lower, especially if you're losing well. I didn't lower mine for a long time, and then all of a sudden I realized it wouldn't be any big deal to eat even less than that. You may adjust like that too, after some time has passed.

Hey SuzeQ! This is a restart? Don't plan for trouble, it might not come. I encourage you to restart at your maintenance levels (450 - 500). Let your body get used to that for a few weeks. Then, gradually start lowering DDs.

Now .... and this is going to sound harsh but please think of it as tough love - and I am talking to myself as much as I am talking to you ... those of us with broken metabolisms are in a war. We are fighting not just to wear smaller sized clothing. We are fighting for our health, for an independent future, for our very lives. Resentment has no place in this war. It is what it is...and what it is, is broken. Look food resentment in the face and tell it to go away, far away. Tell it you will not let it undermine your desire for a future.

Hugs dear. You can do this.

I did not "lose" weight. I evicted it. It is gone and it ain't coming back!

JUDDD cares about calories. JUDDD does not care what you eat. Your body probably does.

Suze, like the others said, 400-500 calorie DDs are perfect for restarting. No worries, and some of us stay at those numbers. If you're meeting your UD numbers and not going over, 400 calorie DDs for the duration may work well for you. If you stop losing or stall, then you know some changes are in order.

Yes, 1500/500-400 should work fine- especially in the beginning. It may always work, but stick with that for at least 2 weeks and see how you feel.

I just want to borrow some of this tough love for myself. Restarting after past failures is daunting and the mind can be my best friend or worst enemy.

Are you eating relatively low-carb? I find that WHAT I eat on my Up Days(rather than how much I eat on my Down Days) is one of the major impactors on how hungry (or not) I am on my Down Days.

Well I managed to drop a pound on my DD yesterday. Yay! I did eat up to 1500 calories day before. Today is another UD and let's see if I can get enough calories in.
