l'autour, please please please don't be afraid of exceeding 1200 average calories, if your count says to. You want to rev up your metabolism, not slow it down. I know, it's a very tough concept to accept, but there's some real wisdom in it!

Partyof7, I wouldn't worry too much about not always hitting your DD numbers. You did great and the first few weeks are usually quite a learning process. You are right, you are still at a deficit, and I'm sure are still in WLM according to the calculator, just at a higher percentage.

I count carbs and kcals tho' that's because my DH has diabetes II on both sides of his family and I'm doing my best to make sure that he doesn't develop it. I also count them as part of a tricky but, for me, successful migraine management protocol.

If you have a low kcal food intake on a DD, that shouldn't knock you out of ketosis, irrespective of the macronutrient make-up because it's the low kcal that keeps you in ketosis for that.

It's probably helpful if you give yourself time to adjust to JUDDD rotations within a WOE that suits you and your needs before you tweak because otherwise it's tricky to know what works for you and what doesn't.

But I'd much rather lose more slowly than do anything to make maintenance harder! I'm just scared if I eat more I won't lose at all.
I highly recommend following the JUDDD calculator for at least 4 weeks and then see if any tweaking is actually needed.

Ofcourse, it wasn't fruits and veggies that got me fat - now was it? lol

I started JUDD on April 10th. Today is my 4th DD, and I'll admit - I am struggling somewhat on DD's. I have to cook for my family so the temptation is there 3x a day plus snacks.

Today I ate a OMM with cream cheese and sf jelly - that was probably close to 400 calories there. Then I ate a large salad with 1 egg and 1 mini bell pepper and 1 tblspn of ranch and a sprinking of cheese...I'm guessing that was probably 300 calories, and then I ate a hot dog 170 calories.
So I am over my 645 calorie as suggested (I've just been doing 500) by a little over 200 calories...Its still a deficit!
It's nothing worth beating myself up over - right? I am horrible at counting calories and carbs. I've never really done it!

I find this all mentally taxing with so much going on IRL - but I am trying.
Thinking of just fasting all day like Carly suggested and eating at night before bed.

So far, I actually love JUDDD. It makes all LC food sound delicious! I don't get a chance to think "Ahh, an omelette really?" instead its like "Yum. Tomorrow I am making an omelette!" even though they are totally not my fave food.
DDs take some getting used to, but for me, I get better appetite suppression when my DDs are low. Everyone is different, though. I also don't get hungry until I eat. I know it sound ridiculous, but for me it's true. When I eat my bedtime snack at 9:30pm I was never really hungry before then, but once I start to eat I get hungry.

"Know thyself." I would never try a DD anytime a religious celebration has food traditions. However if it is not an important day on your calendar then it would not need to be tr?eated differently.

No, I plan on not making it a DD, but should I md saturday? Just have two up days and go on? I'm not doing 2 DD for sure! Maybe do about 1000 calories sat. I'm not real bent out of shape about it. Just wondering what other people do.

L'autour! I'm so happy you are loving JUDDD!

Many people feel a bit guilty about eating up to the up day calories, but it really does work. Although Dr. Johnson actually does not think it's necessary to reach a particular up day level (he says the up day calories are there only to calculate the DD calories), this is where the real life "study" happens, and many of us here have found it actually works better to get close to that number. More importantly, you want to leave yourself room to cut calories later when you get lighter or when you are just stalled. I figured the average of 1750/500 to be only 1112.5, but please don't be scared to go above 1200. I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that you will lose well on 1999/500 (which is only 1250ish average anyway) Please think long term and save the lower level for if/when you need it. I can all but promise that you will do fabulously on your calculator cals.

I hate MDs personally, so I'd say do 2 UD and move on. Some people don't mind mid-days so it's really up to you. In the long run 2 UDs won't make a big difference.

I'm pretty sure I am going to have a tortilla or some corn tortillas tonight for dinner. I don't know- JUDDD is kind of weird, or else LC is. All day on my DD all I can think about is food..on my UD its not really on my mind and I am not so hungry.

Hi everyone!! I'm Kim...some of you probably remember me from last year...I have strayed away but I have decided to return with a renewed confidence in JUDDD, I know it works and I need to be here. I am starting with a DD tomorrow, my numbers are 1708 UD and 500 cals max DD for 2 weeks. I am 157 pounds as of this morning and I will weigh daily but only for my own records...My official weight will be on a morning after a DD on day 6 or 7 whatever is appropriate. I know I can do this...and I need support. This is a great group of people

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Hi ladies -
Yesterday I messed up. I ended up eating a whole bunch of lc peanut butter cookies..with my lentil dish and chicken fat it wound up being about 1800 calories on my DD (supposed to be 500).
My UD calories are 3600 they say.
Should I do a DD today or an UD today?

Party, do an UD. When things go awry like that, just pick yourself up and keep on schedule. Less mental angst. Plus, if your UD is really 3600, then 1800 is barely a MD.

Are you sure your UDs are supposed to be 3600? Are you very, very active? I know your weight at this point gives you more calories (mine did too!) but it seems pretty high. Do you want us to verify for you? If not, no problem!

Sure. I'm 5'8, 31, and 348 at last weigh in.

I thought I did double check using a calculator online. I'll go check again myself.

I'm pretty sedentary. Just running after kids. When I sit down I am usually here. haha

and when I say 'run' I mean that in the most kindest terms possible. I don't know if I could run. LOL
With light exercise 1-3 days a week I got 3220 on my UD. Not quite the 3600 I put.
Oops....Did you get something different?

I get 2810/562 at 20% with little to no exercise (which we usually recommend). 3220/644 with light exercise.

ETA: 60% would be 1686. If you had 1800 yesterday, I'd call that a MD and have an UD today.

Oldie but a Newbie

Hey JUDDDers!

I used to JUDDD years ago and I go back to it from time to time. It's always been my go to diet. I seem to get the most health benefits and the fastest weight loss. It does take some white knuckling at first, but once I'm in the groove, I'm good to go.

I thought I would introduce myself, as I ALWAYS do better when I'm posting for support.
