So, I caved....

and joined Weight Watchers, I was trying to do my own version (pattern) of JUDDD but I was still starving on DDs....I'm full of excuses.

So far Weight Watchers is working out good, I have been JUDDDing it a bit by using my 26 points (and a few of my "extra" points) on days where I need it and using less points when I can hack it. I still do a bit of "fasting" as I rarely eat before noon everyday, I think that is helping too. I'm still seriously considering JUDDD for maintaining after I get the weight off as I really do like the plan but need more DD calories to feel comfortable.

I've also been doing my physical therapy exercises for my newly diagnosed arthritis in my knee, I go twice a week and it has been helping a lot.

I still lurk on this board because everyone is very welcoming and helpful.

Way back when we had a Weight Watchers/JUDDD thread and some people had figured out their points for UD/DDs.

Actually, I think it's a great idea because of the fact that WW focuses so much on the GHGs (Good Health Guidelines). So, it's kind of a fun game to try to do DDs with getting in healthy oils and dairy.

Anyway, I applaud you! You gotta follow the path that works for you at the time. You are going in the right direction and this is a good thing!

See, I don't see it as caving. I see it as exploring different WOEs and making it work for you. You learned, from JUDDD, that you can maintain - so now you have a plan for maintenance. And you're using principles learned from JUDDD in our WW - a bit of WW/IF if you will.
Not caving. Caving would be throwing in the towel and eating a cake, 12 cupcakes, a pint of ice cream and 5 bags of chips. Every day. For the next year.
Hugs!

I hope you have found something that works well for you, Becky. All of us are trying to do the same thing--lose weight and get healthy. If WW is a better fit or easier, all that matters in the long run is results.

Like everyone else, I see it as on-going adaptation and tweaking.

ADF is not for everyone (I do 4:3) but there probably is a pattern of eating that will suit most people in managing their day-to-day food intake and we just have to keep tweaking that as it will change as our lives change.

I agree Slowsure ADF is not for everyone and it's a matter of finding the right program for you. I found my sweet spot with Fast 5. I always rejected the eating window IF's thinking I would just binge in those 5 hours, but I have not found this to be the case. Just the psychological aspect of knowing I can eat every day, and anything I wanted to if I so desire, has blunted my appetite or maybe just the magic of IF kicks in. In any case there is some definite blunting of appetite being experienced over time. I love this way of eating, teaches me discipline without being too uncomfortable and, my goodness, by the time 2pm rolls around I relish every morsel.

All these responses are exactly why I love this board!

I am really trying to find something that works and that I can live with long term, strait JUDDD was almost a perfect fit. Combining WW with a JUDDD-ish twist is working well so far, I look forward to reading that thread!

I posted in it as well, as that was right after my surgery and I was back to not losing! I've been swimming in the "what the heck should I try?" sea of misery and had been contemplating this angle yet again.

I hate that "sea", I think we are all looking for what suits us and what we can live reasonably comfortably with long term. Weight loss should IMO not mean suffering.

Becky, I agree. I can honestly live with JUDDD, doing it on my schedule (the one that worked for me before), but it gets frustrating not seeing any results. But ... I think I'm planning to try it again. It's so doable for me and I can't seem to stay away. I've been flying all over the place here trying to decide what I should try next :sigh: and I keep coming back here.

Beaky, that was so funny finding you there in Joedi's old thread. You too 'Nilla.

We do what works, that is the plan.

I will always choose to fast to some degree, for health reasons. But we all have our own route.

I seem to be doing very well with WW, down 3 lbs from when I started, though I don't know "offically" how much till tomorrow as I'm switching my meeting/weigh day from Monday to Thursday. I have used less points on some days more on others and am not hungry, which is great as that used to be a major issue of mine when I did WW previously. I will keep reading and posting as I very much love this board!

Becky, are you doing WW on your own or have you gone to the meetings, got the books, etc.? I had some books but threw them all away.

I hate to admit it but this is about my 5th go around with WW. Last time I was doing strict JUDDD but was going to WW for the weigh in (keeps me honest with myself), went to most of the meetings at the beginning as I loved our leader. I'm going to meetings this time around too but am trying a different day as the Monday leader didn't "wow" me at all. I still have the books from my every attempt (I buy new ones each time...).
