Hello, all! Good to see all of the new folks sticking with this WOE during the initial "period of adjustment." I'm still having problems with gnawing hunger, which is turning my DDs into MDs. Despite that, I'm down 1.8# for two weeks of (inexpert) JUDDDing. I've read the Varady book (a quick read), and am aiming for her recommended 100 calorie snack plus lunch or dinner DD plan. Babysitting today, and will take along puttanesca sauce over zoodles for dinner. Chow!

I've been here about 2 months and still have hunger pangs. Increasing protein on both days and eliminating my sweets on UD has helped. Hang in there; we can do this.

Thanks, Carrie J! That sounds like a good strategy. I've been eating a bit more carb for the filling effect (beans, pasta), but this may be making me hungrier. There's a tolerable hunger, and then there's chew-my-hands-off HUNGER! So unpleasant.

If you are feeling super hungry try a mug of broth. It's about 7 calories and can really fill an empty stomach. It helped me a lot in the beginning.

Sometimes I ignore good advice, but today I'm going to have some broth. For some reason I've been thinking broth wouldn't help, but I just remembered judgment before investigation is useless. Thank you, Carly and Kristen, for helping me remember this.

Yes- I remind myself constantly of the phrase "Contempt before investigation" when poo pooing something I've been unwilling to try.

I'll try this, too, thank you, Carly and Kristin. I got some no-sodium beef broth packets yesterday at Wally World (they were out of chicken). No sodium bounces for this JUDDDer!

This. I think I am having terrible sodium bounces. My after DD weight is going up and the last few days I have woken up feeling so terrible; headache, swollen eyes and hands. Perhaps my new fave go to DD meals of Progresso soup and a veggie patty aren't doing me any favors.

Very frustrating. I have to figure out what's going on!

I'm not at all effected by sodium, but I know some people are.

I sympathize! I'm very affected by sodium, and used to do an egg and meat regime (home prepared, no salt), with lots of water before Weight Watchers weigh-ins. It's hard to avoid sodium unless you are preparing all of the food you eat; not practical.

Hmmm Emma, meat and egg before weigh ins... I'm currently in an 8-week weight loss competition, I may have to take on that idea before weigh ins on Fridays!

Sodium reallllyyy affects me, too. Oh how I wish it didn't, I have an unhealthy love for salty foods.

There's a Meat and Egg Fast section on LCF which it might be useful to browse for ideas/menus and a peek at how other people are progressing with it?

I love salty, too, even over sweet. I think a meat/egg, low calorie day(s) would give you a fair weigh-in. Of course, a light hand with the salt mill!

I need to get into a competition! I evicted seven pounds in six weeks a few years ago during a team competition. Before I'd eat something, I'd ask myself how eating/refraining would benefit the team, and this made me mindful. Of course, that seven pounds and more returned for another go-round! Grrrr.

I'm still trying to get this figured out. Came back from an 8 day cruise this past weekend and sick with flu now. Restarted JUDDD on Monday. My biggest thing is trying to keep count of calories and making sure I don't eat too many carbs on UD. I was doing Atkins and then dabbled in THM before finding this WOE from the THM book. Since I have PCOS, carbs are my enemy. Well, today is UD so feeling good about that.

It takes practice at first. I have PCOS, too. I was lead to believe that carbs were the enemy, but I found out, that for me, they just aren't. The truth of the matter is I feel worse on a very low carb diet. I am a low carb veteran and low carbed much of my adult life, but eating in balance has helped my mood and health the most.

You know your body best, so I'm just sharing what I've learned for me.

Post and read frequently- it really helps!!!!

Not so new but starting over

Hello! I am Angela and while I am not new to LC friends I adopted the JUDDD WOL in November and started off well. Then was nominated to work on our schools Christmas Parade float and just had no time to eat at all, I went from 178 to 172 by Christmas in this mostly DD month. Then we traveled away after Christmas, crazy eating schedule and I gained back to 177. Then I began working full time and coming home ravenous, munching my way to dinner add another pound or two. Then a scrapbooking weekend with the girls in February where the M&Ms were flowing. I found myself over 184 and unhappy. I have not been this heavy in several years.

So I had considered going back to Low Carb but decided I had not stuck with JUDDD long enough to really see what it could do for me. So here I am back and kinda new.

I had a down day yesterday with a zone bar at 180 calories, coffee with sf creamer 20 calories and some pumpkin seeds at 150. And a TON of water.

Awoke at 181.6 not great but good considering where I had been. So now I am over halfway through my up day and have consumed about 825 calories. Thinking tacos are on the books for this evening.

So I am focused this week (spring break) hopefully the focus can continue next week and I will be able to check in here at least once a day...When I did low carb that seemed to keep me on track and accountable...seeing what everyone on the board was up to.

Hi Everyone

Its been several weeks since i started.

Seems just a few days, but in reality that was in Feb.

I am constantly surprised when i get through the DD's either below or very close to my calories allowed.

For me i think that is because with juddd I always know tomarrow I can eat normally again.

its so simple.

I also had the problem of not sleeping well some nights in the first two weeks and that has remedied itself I'm happy to say, so hope others find that sleeping normally comes back soon for you.

i dont have a scale but my clothes are getting looser and looser so i am very happy with the results.

I also notice the bouncing my body is going through especially if I excersize very heavily. Thanks to reading some of the graphs, Carly's was especially edifiying, I fear those bounces no more.

Keep going on everyone!

So glad i found this forum, it helps in many ways.

Shar, I hope you're feeling better real soon! And counting everything can be hard, but so worth it. For me, it's the only thing that keeps me feeling in control of the process. I hope at some point (like Carly and a whole lot of us) that you'll be able to add some carbs back in. You'll know when the time is right.

back Angela! I remember you from your avi. Life definitely gets in the way sometimes. I was closing in on 150 pounds lost when I hit a plateau and got a pretty bad case of the diet fatigue struggles, gained nearly 20 pounds and decided to take a JUDDD break. Next week I'm starting JUDDD back up again and can't wait, so I'll be re-starting with you!
