Hee-Hee! I just love that for some reason right now. Maybe it's because of the big piece of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and a scoop of ice cream I had after dinner last night.

I was craving it. DH actually drove me to the grocery store to buy one slice of the carrot cake from the bakery and he wanted to pick out some ice cream.

Anyway, noooooooo regrets when I'm craving something on an UD and my DDs have been consistent and low.

The scale was NOT up this morning. I'm still 11 pounds down. All that food satisfaction from yesterday has spurred me on and I'm having a marvelously happy DD which I plan to see through to a successful conclusion.

I don't really want to get into whether low carb or any other WOE is better or not better. But to share my experience, just 2 thoughts:

1. I lose really fast when I do low or no carb.

2. I gain really fast if I cheat even a little on LC or NC and then when I go on vacation or go off plan even for a weekend, I gain fast, I gain a lot and it takes me a long time to get it back off even if I jump right in.

Nobody is more surprised than I am about how easy and satisfying it is for me to follow the JUDDD UD/DD rotations. Nobody is more surprised or delighted than me for me about how steadily the weight comes off, how it stays off, and how I can go on a week or two week vacation, come back, do a couple of DD rotations and the weight comes right back off.

Simply delightful!!!

Dawn, I have to give you full credit for inspiring me to dive in and embrace "normal" eating which to me includes carbs.

This time around, I kept thinking back to how you "carbed up" for a weekend and then started JUDDDing.

I decided this time that I want every kind of food in my life. No deprivation. No off limits, forbidden, evil, guilt filled items in my diet.

And, as a result, I am loving the simplicity, success and social benefits of JUDDD. When DH invited me out for a lovely dinner to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary he very cutely said, we can go on Saturday or Monday because I know those are UDs for you and you can eat!!

Isn't that cute, cute, cute??? So we went to an early dinner at our favorite place and it was so lovely to not have to say "oh, I shouldn't have THAT".

OK, this got too long, sorry. Just could not help chiming in!

Again, Dawn, thanks for your inspiration! I just love you!

Sorry, have to say one more thing.

I'm so grateful that years ago my older brother introduced me to Dr. Stillman's Quick Weight Loss Diet book. I was only 15 and it was the perfect time for me to go quickly, with lightening speed, from being overweight to being slim. And, LC, high protein, LF kept me slim all my adult life until I turned 50 and it just would not work for me anymore.

I guess my body changed. I'm grateful that I had a go-to plan that always worked til then. Over and out.

I hear ya but it isn't perspective. No one is going to say cake is a health food. At least the cakes out there in supermarkets everyone buys along with little debbie snacks, cheetos, doritos, sugar sodas, and the rest. they just choose to ignore the health of the food and eat it. they know it is not a good item, but make their choice on how they want to eat thru life. Nothing wrong with that, but own up to the fact that some foods are certainly unhealthy in general for everyone.

frankenfoods. they have a name for a reason.

people diet a million ways to lose weight. just to get lbs. off. that can be done obviously. then there are those that choose to incorporate healthy real whole unprocessed foods to clean up their menus and shoot for overall health for long term while shedding lbs.

it really is up to all to pick how they want to do it. I just say it would be nice if the general obese population would take a good look at what they are eating and actually own up to the junk they are swallowing.

Too much or too little of any one food group is not healthy. I agree that eating a diet of ice cream and Cheetos is not advisable. I also believe that it is not healthy to rule entire food groups out. For me, I need a well balanced and well rounded diet. Years of low carb kept me thin, yes, but I would not say I was healthy in body or in mind.

Yes, well most of us are here because we have been overweight at one time or another, so let's not throw stones.

The amazing thing is we can all figure out what works for us as individuals. When I was exclusively low carb I was dogmatic and certain it was the only way to good health. For me, I was wrong. For me it was not sustainable and wasn't healthy.

I lived in fear of carrots and too much lettuce. So terrified to go over 20 net carbs. My mind was obsessing constantly. We all have to find our path and lucky for you and I it seems we have found ours. They may be different, but if we are both happy and healthy that is what counts

Carly: Great post! Thanks for that.

Oh, and....I lived in fear of brussel sprouts

I love them and I could never eat just one....or two...or three.

After two weeks of Stillman's one time, I gave in to brussel sprouts and felt so guilty and then the cravings started and, and, and, you know the rest...

Thank you for all the input and discussion. Since my husband is a Type 2 Diabetic and has to watch his carbs, low carb is a good fit for me and I have always felt better and more energetic when I follow that WOE. Of course, I am going to have my "cheat days" and the beauty of incorporating JUDDD is that it is easy to correct those days with a DD. I don't feel deprived at all, just doing what is right for me.
Life is good!

Oh Carly you reminded of when an extra tomato felt sinful, lol.

But seriously, I do think eating healthy food is important. Though I will never again base my diet on the traditional food Pyramid.

I sure wasn't throwing stones Carly. It is all about the junk food out there in the big bad world. I meant that with what is being offered out there in supermarkets and fast food joints, it is best for one to truly watch what they are eating.

I mean we take so much consideration into our lives about the medicines we are taking, the way we want our kids raised and their influences, and all that in life, food you would think would be a 'bit of a priority' and what choices we do choose to eat.

I said MOD carb. I am very lc cause I choose that and then I sure would praise anyone for chosing what I choose . I mentioned moderate carb in my post when referring to the general public out there. that would be for most just cutting junk. Mod carb is allowing rice, taters, breads, pastas into one's day.

Joannew, those numbers look like your body is adjusting to the rotations and working on getting the magic started. It would be great if you had already lost a ton. But, from my pov, you are making much better progress into the rotations this time.

You are doing amazing! It seems like the calculation without the exercise and the LC has been working well!

Thanks everyone. Yesterday was a HUGE FAIL...afraid to weigh inso I didn't. Hope today will be better.

Starting with NEW UD/DD #'s (1538/308) to see if that makes a difference.
2/23 - 141 (DD) 550 (will keep trying for that elusive 308!!!
2/24 - 140 (UD)1463
2/25 - 140.4 (DD) 303!!!!! (First Successful DD--Where's my medal?)
2/26 - 139 (UD)1643 (STRESS eating) Need to perfect the UD now!
2/27 - 140.4 (DD)253!!!
2/28 - 139.6 (UD) 1638 (Giving away those stupid M&M's!!!!)
3/1 - 139.4 (DD) 500 on the button, 9 carbs (cutting the carbs made the difference, IMHO)
3/2 - 137.6 (UD) 1229, 17 carbs (tummy issues)
3/3 - 138.4 (DD) (428) 12 carbs
3/4 - 138.4 (UD) (1458, 28 carbs)
3/5 - 137.8 (DD) (UUAD)
3/6 - DNW

It happens. Don't think of it as a fail, think of it as life. As long as it does not happen often, it becomes a non-event by the end of the week.

That UUAD on the 5th didn't do any damage! JUDDD is forgiving when done correctly most of the time.
