UD Tuesday

This is my first Up Day, and it is HARD!!! If I "eat how I normally do" as per Dr. J's instructions, I am still only at 1100 cals for the day. Is that enough? And what about carbs? Since this is a Low Carb site, I'm assuming most of you are doing both low carb AND JUDDD? What do most of you try to keep your net carbs at, or do you keep track?

Have you figured your UD and DD calories on his site? Maybe that would give you a good ballpark range for how many calories to eat today.

I think some do Low carb on UD's, but not all. The best thing about JUDDD, is you're allowed to eat any food. There's a recent thread on "LC accelerating weight loss" that has a lot of info from people who like to LC on JUDDD.
Here's the link: https://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/j...ight-loss.html

My plan today:
IF until late lunch (trying to make my DD last 36 hours)

L: two eggs, 4 oz 80/20 pastured ground beef, kale sauteed in CO (540)
S: quest bar? (200)
D: maybe creamed spinach and 4oz beef? need 800 cals here...
S: full fat greek yogurt with berries, cocoa powder, and stevia (240)

Laura, I second the recommendation to check your calories at Dr. Johnson's site. Try to get close to the UD number given there. If you're too low on an UD, your body will not get out of the stress/famine response, and it'll likely backfire.

I am NOT low carb. Some of us are and some aren't. Totally your preference.

My menu today:

B: Everything bagel with cream cheese, coffee, iced tea
L: Banh Mi with Sriracha
D: No clue yet
S: Probably a Snickers bar
There will be cocktails.

I'm not doing low carb either. And, I'm loving the freedom and simplicity of JUDDD!

Today's UD for me:

B - coffee with cream
L - going out to Chili's restaurant with DD (there might be a margarita involved since I won't have to drive!) probably chicken fajitas, chips and salsa.
D - Some kind of leftovers from the fridge heated up. Most likely my yummy home made spaghetti sauce with whole wheat pasta.

It is going to be a very filling UD for me!

Currently I am not LC. Followed it for a long time but wasn't seeing results anymore so switched it up a bit.

B: coffee w/h&h and DH made me a breakfast sandwich - scrambled egg, canadian bacon and cheese on an onion bagel. I told him to give me half the sandwich because the bagels were so big I'm sure it would have been 2 or 3 servings instead of just one!

L: small sf vanilla latte, fuji apple with peanut butter

S: Babybel cheese

D: frito chili pie topped with lots of lettuce, cheese & salsa

S: protein hot cocoa + maybe something else depending on how many cals I have left

I'm doing LC, but fast considering that it might not be the magic bullet I'd hoped.

B-coffee w/HWC - 150

s-Atkins coconut bar - 170

L- 2 chicken legs and a thigh -? Probably 450-500

D-TBD...we got out of work early because of the encroaching ice storm--in progress right now, and I have several things to cook, assuming we don't lose power.

I was pretty hungry this morning and cottage cheese and peaches sounded good, so I ran up to the store and got some Daisy 2% cottage cheese and some Del Monte No Sugar Added peaches. The peaches aren't as good as my wife's home canned but it still hit the spot.

Lunch is approaching and I'm not really hungry yet. I might have a salad in an hour or two.

Dinner is bone-in ham, taters and broccoli. Yum

B: Iced coffee with GS cookie thin mint creamer (yes there is a girl sc cookie creamer!) A few small chocolate cookies.

L: Pork stew, brown rice. Hershey kisses. TOM sorry, chocolate is dominating today!

D: Turkey chili cheese mac, steamed broccoli

S: Popcorn, hot cocoa with Peppermint schnapps or a glass of wine.

Gosh I know this doesn't sound terribly healthy...I blame TOM!

We have rain, and while I'd love to complain about it, we need it so badly I feel guilty. The farmers around here are really hurting. President Obama's actually coming to my city on Friday to discuss the drought.

Thanks everyone! I was super helpful to see what people are eating. My first UD yesterday and it was a disaster!!! Completely off the rails! I'm glad for a nice safe DD today. Try again tomorrow. I am pretty sure I know what my calories need to be, but I will go to the JUDDD website to check. Also, I was glad to see a combo of people doing LC on JUDDD and some not. I haven't decided yet if I want to keep LC on it or just try it as Dr. J suggests first. I am worried only because carbs send me spiraling out of control, like yesterday.

Edited to add:
DD: 488
UD: 2441

Strangely, after eating to satisfaction and staying within my 1800 cals, I could not sleep last night.... I was awake until 5am. So I snacked and went over my UD yet again. I'll keep trying

Yep. A lot of my friends were sending me pics of signs around LA asking people to conserve water. I remember that January and Feb (and even March sometimes) were our "winter" months in LA and it would RAIN. Sad all these winter storms are over here and not shifting toward Cali to drop some rain. It will affect produce prices too. Poor farmers.
