Ever hear that when a bell rings an angel gets its wings?

Well.............I think I heard a bell ringing.

Yam-Yam, better check your back! There may be wings sprouting!!!

I know Pat and others will agree with me....what an angel you are with your wonderful, encouraging, uplifting posts.

I'm not fighting the same battles, but I find your words boosting me too.

Thank you Angel-Budd!

Phyl

PS: I am not Yam-Yam's PR budd!

A drinking or eating problem, to me, is when you cannot stop once you start. I know this demon well, and you do not seem to have it.
A little time and you will be fine. Be sure you are drinking enough. I have found that if I will drink 1 glass of water before anything in the morning and 2 more before breakfast, my life is much better.
Now I am a yo, yo, Juddder. I keep falling off the wagon, hopefully I will recoup for good one day.

I'm driving to DSs house in southern CA today. Gotta leave in a few minutes but wanted to pop in and say 'bye.

It's his birthday and I'll be babysitting my little grand sons tonight and maybe tomorrow as well. Then stay there for a few nights, pick my grand daughter up at Burbank airport and drive to Palm Springs.

I don't know when I'll get a chance to check in. Don't have too much fun without me! But have lots of fun!

Pat, what you are saying about your relationship to food sounds very familiar to me. One of the first things I noticed when starting JUDDD about three weeks ago, was that I had virtually been at war with food for... as long as I can remember! There were always so many rules and I had begun to think of carbs as poison! Really, I thought any nice meal must be bad for me. So, after years of restrictions, cheating, guilt, etc., JUDDD changed everything quickly. Suddenly everything was on the menu and the only thing that mattered was counting the calories - which I had not done since WW in the 1970's as a teen!

Anyway, JUDDD, to me is like a fun science experiment and the only objective is to pay attention to my body and adjust fast enough to keep my weight on a downward trend over time. I'm trying not to rush things - because I want to eat this way forever. My mom, who never had a weight problem, regulated her weight by adjusting her diet (lowering her calories) when she had gained 3-5 pds, so I suspect that many people without food problems eat in a similar way to JUDDD, naturally. It seemed so gentle and responsive - her relationship with her body and food, so as I progress I keep those memories of her in my mind. In contrast, I've been quite harsh with myself over the years and I consider JUDDD to be my path to a healthier relationship with food. I hope it is the same for you!

Pat, I wanted to encourage you with planning your meals on your UDs and making the food 'real'.

I love the idea of you setting a place for yourself (or even making a tray look pretty) and having a proper meal, not just a day of grazing.

I had a widowed neighbour who, most days, used to bake a potato (in the oven not the microwave) add her vegetables and protein, lay the table and light a couple of candles. Just for herself. It was a routine that she loved.

When Brian was alive I made each meal an event. We never ate in front of TV but set the beautiful table he had refinished with linen napkins and our 'fancy' tableware.
I traveled for work so much that meals together were highly valued.
I think you are right.
Just because I am alone does not mean that I can't eat a nice meal.
Your neighbor sounds like a treasure!
I have not 'widowed' well.
But for the first time in 8 yrs I really do have hope.
Thank you for this post.

Dearest you have wings, as well. Your hugs are perfectly timed as if on cue. Just when we need them.

I don't do JUDD, but thought I'd comment anyway that sometimes cravings for alcohol can be like cravings for food . . . . I try not to drink, but for the last few weeks I have been craving a drink . . . sometimes food can kill that craving. If you think you might have a problem, it's good that you are aware of the possibility so that you can be mindful of it. Good luck!

What would I do without you?
I am so proud for you to have such a wonderful journey going on.
Honestly, that fact that you and others were still 'here' when I tip toed back in gave me the boost I needed.
I do feel loved and supported.

Do you drag Mrs Frosty around by the hair of the head as part of your exercise routine?

I think if I make more healthy food choices and make meals vs. snacks that will help.

Thanks.

I'm still amused by the linen napkins. I'm pretty sure we don't even own any of those. We got nice china for our wedding and have never even opened the boxes. Our 25th anniversary is next month.

We are such neanderthals.

Pat- I think you are doing great and the healed relationship with food will come, but takes time. Enjoy the process and take it one day at a time, before you know it a month will pass- then 2 and then 3. I found when I could trust that JUDDD worked I was really able to start the healing.
