And Gina ... you're eating above BMR, right? I'd love to hear your plan if you'd like to share. It's working brilliantly!

Green, you mentioned the lower cals weren't making you feel very good ... what did you decide to do after the week off? (which seems to have done you good!)
I went back on JUDDD but really only had 2 true DD's last week.

Your RMR is higher than mine and I'm 56 pounds heavier! Lucky duck! I got the same kind of calorie range from the machine that you did, where the weight loss range is 20% below RMR-RMR. The health educator working with me didn't have a problem with that range being below RMR either, and maybe the RMR is kind of artificial limit. The people who are focused on maintaining lean body mass while dieting seem to think that you shouldn't cut more than 20% from your TDEE, though, so we just have to find the best level for ourselves I guess! Anyway, you didn't feel good on that calorie range, so I'm glad you listened to your body there.

Quitting smoking is so much more important than a pound (I do understand about the pounds though).

I am switching from daily to once a week weight on Tuesdays. I added my March Tuesday's weights, which were after DD's.
April's goal is to get below 160 and have real DD's.

3/4 164.5
3/11 165.5
3/18 164
3/25 165.5
4/1 164.5
4/8 164

Being up a pound makes me want to panic and lower my calories. But I am doing so much more lifting and the weights/resistance is getting a bit heavier, so I'll stay the course for now.

Don't panic.

I'm not sure how to search for them, but on the internet I have come across before and after pictures with a higher weight "after" with a much better appearance due to lifting.

Thank you for that, Gina!

It's what I'm trying to tell myself, and I knew I'd be facing some scale challenges during the course of this. Funny how when they happen, I still get the panicky feeling. This is me, trying to be strong.

Carol! That darn scale. It annoys me so much that it weighs not only fat, but water and muscle too. How are we to know what's going on week to week? And why can't weight loss be linear? It would be so much more reassuring.

I think you're smart not to change anything yet. Next week and/or the week after, it might go down again, and you can also compare the scale number with measurements, clothes fit, etc. to see if the scale is showing what's happening or not.

You've got this! You're doing something that will make it easier to maintain when you get to goal.

I've seen so many of the kinds of pictures Gina is talking about and it's so true! Not only do people's bodies shrink while gaining weight but they look so good afterward too. Plus, weighing once a great means that you might have just caught yourself on a weird bouncey day. You're rocking this!

I can't say enough about averaging weights over a week. I typically hit a new low and then don't see it again for many days, but in the meantime the post UD weights get lower and lower, and post DD weights get lower (but not as low), bringing the average down.

If I hadn't been averaging and just going by how often I saw a new low weight I probably would have quit by now.

Friday is my weigh-in day.

4/1 204.4
4/4 201.2
4/10 199.0
4/18 199.2

New plan started on 4/1:
3 days @700 cals (35% DD) - low carb
4 days @ 1900 (sedentary TDEE) plus calories burned (weight-lifting days)-higher carb
1 day @ 2200-2500 (reset day)
Reduced cardio to mostly walking and HIIT

Keeping it in Onederland, Christina! Here's hoping you never have to see that "2" number again!

Unless of course it's some serious muscle!

Average for the week ending...

Start: 223.80
3/9: 220.6
3/16: 217.5
3/23: 217.1
3/30: 217.3 (house guests and no DDs)
March total: -7.5

4/6: 215.7
4/13: 214.7
4/20: 214.7 (not terribly surprised, Spring Break)

Goal for April is -5lbs.... to get to 210.something.

Not a stellar weight loss week for me. My DDs were closer to MDs and some of my UDs included Boardwalk food. Back to work and more structure tomorrow.

lifting will totally change the scale! definitely don't panic. now is a good time for you to really devote yourself to your measuring tape. that and how differently your clothes will fit!!

lifting is so good for you. i am going to be heading down that road very soon! keep the course girl. think of all the lovely muscle you will have... as well as stronger bones!!

I was just noticing how similar our weightloss history seems, from the number standpoint. I went from 253 to 212 over a couple years by a variety of plans then found JUDDD a couple years ago and got under 196. Threw some NK in for a while too. I have never been very good at restriction as a former ED patient. When I quit smoking 15 months ago gradually gained back to 226. Now losing steadily following recent illness and surgery. My goal is to get back into my summer clothes from two years ago. I think another ten pounds would do the trick with a little exercise thrown in.

Wish you the best on your way down. I will be trying to progress at about a pound per week ongoing. It would be fun to have a buddy along the way.

I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! You still worked out though, right? So I'm sticking to my "it's muscle" theory!

You're braver than I am. I'm not even going to weigh this week because of Easter meets PMS meets higher DDs. So I'll never know how much "muscle" I gained this week.

Hee hee I do think I have gained some muscle since April 1st. I see new muscles I haven't seen before!

Also, the scale went down a pound after one day of intuitive eating.

I've been MIA on this thread for a while.

My weight has not changed any in several weeks. I just bounce up and down between 1 and 2 pounds. So much going on in my life I'm not really into serious losing right now but I'm ok with maintaining until the urgent urge to lose hits me again.
