Dang! Sorry, Soren. I hate it when that happens after a DD. I'm OK with it after an UD, but every now and then it happens after a DD, probably because of too much salt or not enough sleep and I hate, hate, hate it. Yours is probably due to exercise. Mine is not! I stayed sedentary while getting over my yucky virus and have not motivated myself to get back to the gym yet. My bad.

I started tracking my weight again with my "official" (said sarcastically since this is my 50th or so restart) start day on Tuesday. I'm going to post my weigh a la Yam for the weirdest reason ever in the anals of LCF. I want to distance my posts from the other weight threads so one of these days I can feel comfortable with posting more about my personal life.

Yeah, I'm paranoid like that.

Okay. Panic is setting in. Yam, I'm trying to drive straight (from your other thread analogy lol). I also know seeing the actual weight would be much more helpful, but y'all know why I'm not doing that time time around. So, I started last Tuesday with an UD. So, this starts with the weight after that.

3/18 - UD
3/19 - DD +1.5
3/20 - UD -1.0
3/21 - DD +1.0
3/22 - UD -2.0
3/23 - DD (DNW)
3/24 - UD +1.5

I know, looking at the daily weight thread, that I'm in line with everyone else - I just panic easily. I'm doing daily rotations for now, instead of the one I've always done, to see if I get better results.

Yeah, I know. I want it today.

'Nilla: You see my posts, right? I've mentioned on other threads why I'm not changing my stats yet. It's for me. This is all about me for me right now! Whatever is helpful to YOU is what you should do.

Your UD/DD bounces look right in line with what they should be.

What I'm doing is stepping on the scale every day and jotting it down. But here I'm revealing my once a week post-DD weight. Well, approximately once per week.

I'm claiming the weekly post DD number because I know if I hit it once and continue with low DDs, I'm going to hit it again and it will stick.

Just keep it simple, Girl, and keep looking through the front windshield and not the rear window!

Love you! You are doing great!

I felt like the ups/downs were in line and typical. Which reminds me, I forgot to kind of list my "official" loss at Saturday's weigh in was a whopping .5 lb. I'm trying to do the true rotations, so my weigh in days may vary.

Thanks for the encouragement!

Hey, -.5 for a week is great in a re-start mode. And speaking of re-start: I found that when I re-started this time (I actually started Dec. 22 which was a bit nuts because of holidays) I bounced wildly up and down every day. And, I had the feeling that the sirtuins were just not flowing until I really concentrated on having really good DDs.

Remember according to Dr. J it takes at least two weeks of good DD rotations to activate the SIRT1 gene and when it gets going, if you keep at it will really pay off in a lot of ways. Appetite suppression, fat burning, DD calm/energy to name a few. That's been my experience anyway.

I didn't really get on a DD rotation roll until January 1 when the few pounds I lost were right back and I weighed the same as I had Dec. 22. That's why I'm counting Jan 1 as my real time re-start.

I've had a few vacays. Superbowl weekend was a blowout. And my week and a half in southern CA mid February was a no rotation free-for-all. But by then I guess the sirtuins were in action because I only gained 2 pounds. Then after one good, low DD when I got home the 2 pound gain was gone, never to return.

My advice to you is that you should focus on getting your DDs as low as you can and keep them under control. For me right now it means eating and drinking the same things every DD. My DD number is 400 but I try to never hit it. If I can keep it at 300 or under I'm good. If I can get it closer to 200 or under I'm thrilled and I really see results.

Keep on keeping on Bud!!!

I've noticed a few tend to have less than the number quoted. I guess that makes it more of a real fast. I need to apply myself a bit better. Thankfully tomorrow will be a busy day at work for my DD.

I subscribe to Dr. J's assertion that getting as close to a total fast as possible on DDs will yield the best results.

Personally I've never been able to do an absolute zero DD, but frequently I can keep it just under 200.

Today was 417 though. But that's fine too.

Good seeing all of you keeping with it. I am NOT weighing for a while. I am switching over to maintenance, and I don't want to freak myself out. So, no weighing for a month or so.

3/22 Loss for the week: .5 lb. (partial week Tuesday-Saturday)

Yam, thanks.

I've always have a good 2-3 lb. drop after a first DD in awhile, hence my grrr. lol My DD's have been good, but I found in the past keeping them at the calculator low or lower (near fast) didn't yield any better results than keeping them at 500, which is what I did successfully years ago (until I fell off the wagon, of course). So, I'm still playing around with the DD figures, but they are generally between 400-500. I have the same things everyday, so I feel like I'm good there.

I had a 2.5 lb. bounce up this morning, added to the 1.5 lb. bounce yesterday, puts me 3 lbs. HIGHER than when I started this last week. That also makes me panic. I feel like I'm a pro at JUDDD aside from the weight loss.

I'm hangin' in, though.

I feel like that took forever.

Also, the scale wanted to show me a lower number, and I just didn't believe it, so I actually weighed again *hoping* for a higher number which seemed more realistic and that's what I'm recording.
is that crazy or what? I just didn't want to take the lower one and then have a huge bounce and get all upset...

slow and steady wins this race.

That said--its a bit of a downer to look at my stats in my tracking app and see that I was at 237 in April of 2013 and even in August of 2012.

What I'm *trying* to take from that bit of history is that I've done it before, I can do it again, and better this time.

I hope

thanks for that perspective! 1lb a week is totally reasonable.

it's all about perspective-- that's quoteworthy I think

Joining you all on once a week weighers!

As I've been blabbing about all over the board, I began a huge "restore the gut flora project" and I've read that since your friendly intestinal fellows will be multiplying so rapidly, the scale can show weight gains. I wasn't going to weigh at all but it got the best of me this morning. So, once a week it is for now!

I've done true EOD rotations and even began drinking water, which I used to be good at but have been a slacker at for the last few months.

Soren, glad to see you're comin' on down.

to Green! It will be interesting to see how the gut flora project affects you-- I'm hoping only good things

Nilla-- water is key. I really believe the more I drink (also, decaf iced tea, etc) the better things go.

Question for you (did I ask already? my memory is useless lately)-- I know your DDs rock-- how are your UDs, calorie-wise?
I can't remember but I thought you said you didn't really track food on UDs?

I sometimes do "whatever" but I generally try to record what I'm doing, to see if there are trends that are helpful or hurtful.. just a thought?

Also-- I don't weigh after UDs. I can't deal with the bounce. But I have no issue with your method of tracking, no need to apologize for how you want to do what you do. As they say, just do it LOL

Soren, I know it'd help to see the actual numbers! Easier to see that this is heading in the wrong direction. I've always tried to get in my water, just slacked the last few months. But, I've been getting that in since starting again. I know when I used to not get it in on the weekends, I could sure tell it in my fingers. I've been tracking both days. Not down to every calorie, but my UDs in particular I have to keep an eye on so I'll eat enough. When I "guesstimate", I'm shockingly several hundred calories shy of what I need to be at on an UD. When I was doing JUDDD a few years ago, I only tracked DD, never UDs and was losing well.

I dunno .. I've been hanging out on the NK thread again. I'm sure my metabolism is broken beyond repair.

Thanks for looking out for me.

Nilla, absolutely none of my business and there's no need to answer if you can't bear it - but why are you thinking that NK might 'fix' your metabolism? (Apologies if that's not your train of thought. I do something reasonably close to NK for migraine control but I doubt I could live with something this restrictive if it didn't do something huge like control migraines for me or didn't offer a mechanism for coping with the probably metabolic corollaries of sarcopenia.)
