Last 20 Pounds

Hello! My name is Jamie and I'm new here. I am just wondering what kind of success you've had with the last 20 pounds? That's what I have left to lose. How long did it take you? What were your calorie levels like (especially the UP)? Any other information you might this is helpful would be great! I'm 5'5 and hoping to get to 118 pounds.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you around.

Jamie! If you go to the JUDDD calculator (google it) and input your height, weight and age, you can find your calories for Up Days and Down Days. Be sure to change from metric to US on the calculator--if that is what you are used to.

If you enter all of the following line into your browser bar

site:lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/juddd/ "how long" "lose weight"

then you should see a range of responses to variations on a similar question that might be useful to you.

Tricky to anticipate the answer because much depends on: your age; whether you have previously lifelong been overweight/obese or for a comparatively short time; metabolic complications; activity levels; whether you've already come from a period of weight loss during which you dropped your kcal intake etc. etc.

Little to add to LG's guidance on the calculator

As for the goal weight, only you can know whether that's appropriate for your frame size and whether you have a good amount of lean body mass (LBM) and whether it's more appropriate to consider that rather than a goal weight.

Good luck.

Sept 2014 A recent DXA scan reported very low muscle mass (sarcopenia) so I'm still thinking about how to cope with that. I have some joint surgery to schedule. I may miss questions that people ask me or personals. Apologies if I do, it's not intentional.

WOW! Thanks for your reply. I did check out the calculator (I had the other day, but forgot about it, duh) and now I have a starting point.

I've already lost 90 pounds and have kept it off for the last year. I resorted to bad eating habits again. YIKES! I just want to get rid of this last bit of weight so I decided it's time to try something new. Something healthier.

I will keep exploring the site. Thanks again.

Jamie, you've done so great losing 90 pounds! Having just 20 more to lose is a crazy place to be, isn't it?

I'm about 20 to 40 pounds from goal (depending on how I feel as I get there), and I alternate between feeling so grateful and proud of how well I've done, and feeling desperate to just get to goal already and be done with the losing part, and like it's never going to get here. Exasperating!

I just noticed you are 5'5" and want to get to 118? Wow, that seems pretty low! I'll bet you're looking super-fantastic right where you are!

Well, I'd love to get to at least 128 pounds, then I could reassess.

Yes, the feelings can be quite conflicting when you've lost a great deal of weight. I thought this would be enough but now that I'm here, I'm not happy. I'm hoping this way of eating will help me shed some body fat, I'm sure that would help.

That seems to be a familiar feeling around here. The maintainers are still not quite happy with their weight. I hope I can stop trying to lose if and when I get to 135ish. I might even stop at 145ish.

Weight lifting--hand weights, kettle ball work outs, even body weight resistance exercises are supposedly the best way to trim up and tone, and make your body look more appealing. I intend to try it!
