JD, I'm having trouble with this too. I'm having a harder time than I ever have on JUDDD right now, both UD and DD (although not all of them) and I agree .... it's gotta be something to do with the body or brain, right? I ordered a full spectrum light for work and I'm wondering if it will help (there are no windows where I am and I am seeing very little natural light at this time of year! I am not a fan of the florescent bulbs ) I'll report back if it helps.

Bra shopping is my least favorite kind! Hope you find a good one and can buy a bunch of them. I've changed bra sizes two or three times since starting JUDDD so I feel your bra-shopping pain.

Carol Thank you.

Chris, it'll be interesting to see! But for me, I know, that's not the problem as our house has great natural light and I go outdoors for exercise. I think, I just need to get rid of nuts/cereals/ice cream etc. that I keep for my DH or tell him to put these away, out of my sight I'm really annoyed with myself DH thinks I need to change my sleeping pattern, I can't seem to do that either! Even if I go to bed early, I wake up an hr or so later as if after a nap

Carly, You have Soma near by? Great fitting bras but a little pricey!

We must be on the same wavelength. I just got back from Kohl's, doing the dreaded bra-shopping myself. I found a Vera Wang version that will work, but I'm not in love with (34 DD). I'm thinking I need a 32 DD as the 34 was on the tightest clasp and they often stretch a small amount. I couldn't find any 32 DDs in ANY brand or style.

JD, I thought about going to SOMA, but I've never been. There's one just a few blocks away though. Do you know if they have weird sizes? I'm willing to pay more now that I'm at maintenance, if I can just find something I like. Grr.

I get mine at either Macy's or Nordstrom. More $$ but more variety. Wacoal is my favorite brand, and they do come in the variety of sizes. I'm currently in 34DD but considered the 32DDD. It was just a bit too tight. I'm also currently wearing the Bali brand I'm also happy with. About $40/bra as opposed to the Wacoal at around $60/bra and I've been equally as pleased with how they've held up. I have one that's their minimizer and I think it works nicely. I bought mine at Macy's as the closest Nordstrom is around 100 miles south but I've bought both brands at Nordys in the past.

I saw it with my kids yesterday. It was very good! They did put most of the really funny parts in the trailers, but it was still good. Definitely worth the theatre prices for this one!

So... in a nutshell - what is the movie about? From all the previews I've seen (commercials and trailers during "Frozen") I could not tell a plot AT ALL. Is it worth taking a kid who isn't into Legos or super heroes?

Well, I survived the bra shopping. Got 2 34DDs that fit fairly well. I got 1 Bali and 1 Vanity Fair. There was very little selection in the way of 34DD and I probably needed 32DD, but there was not a single 32DD in the store

I got a sports bra for $4.20 and workout pants for $10.20 so that made up for some of the bra shopping aggravation.

I'm not sure why I was delusional enough to think I was going to fit in a 34C

Glad to see you had some success, Carly, and some bargains too!

I was just looking at the 5-day forecast, and it looks like we're in for some more wintry precipitation this week. "Wintry mix" on Tuesday (80%) and freezing rain on Wed. (90%). We were "forgiven" the days we had to take off two weeks ago for weather, and didn't have to make them up, but I don't know how many they can afford to give us, lol. Most likely we will have another day or two off this week, because we don't have the equipment (or the need) for keeping the roads safe from ice, as it happens so rarely--not even every year.

I have not eaten very much today, although I didn't make this a real DD. I was starving around 4 pm and ate 2 buffalo chicken tenders, then cooked a steak tonight for us, and ate about 3 bites. My stomach seems a little upset and nauseated, so even though I was soooo hungry earlier, I can't eat much now. Doubt it will hurt.

My daughter (she's 7) isn't into either of those things, and she liked it. Main plot: evil guy is trying to make a world in which everyone follows the rules (AKA lego instructions) to the tee and doesn't think for themselves (think Wall-E). Our hero (Emmett) is a regular guy who does just what he is supposed to, but still doesn't really fit in. Enter band of rogues, who think Emmett is the "Special" that has been prophesied that will save the world. Hilarious hijinks ensue, with enough humour thrown in for the adults that it is entertaining for all.

Absolutely they do! Staff is very helpful too (at least the ones here are). I have become loyal to the brand. You'll have to try different styles as sizes vary but they are shapely, supportive, comfortable and have great colors. No harm in trying! I have shopped at Kohl's, Sears, Macy's and Victoria's in the past but none was as satisfactory as Soma. It;s a sister company of Chico's and Boston Proper.

They should be better than the old ones anyway!

After trying some of the ones I had at home a couple of weeks ago, I thought I could wear 32D again, and bought a couple (it was cold and I was wearing lots of layers so I couldn’t be bothered to try them on), but they’re actually still a bit small, so I bought two 32E bras online & they’re just right. I’ve tucked the 32D ones away in case there’s any more shrinkage. Once you get to D or less, you do get much more choice!

Thanks JD, I'll check them out. This is the 2nd or 3rd recommendation I've had for Soma, so they must be good.

Carly, that's what I found too. I couldn't find 32 at all except in Bs or Cs. What a pain.

Bra shopping is the absolute worst! well... not as bad as bathing suit shopping, but close. We don't have any of the stores you all have been listing (except VS, but seriously? no) so I am almost ready for a trip back to the US to shop. lol

I want a bra that pushes the "girls" together as well as lifts them. I don't need the separation that seems to be what all the bras I find do. Any suggestions?

Wonderbra. When I had nice, firm breasts, the wonderbra did exactly that. Now, however . . . Mine are so flabby, if they get pushed together, it's a big old wrinkly mess. I need to have full coverage so I can work them around into some semblance of a normal shape.

Wonderbra seems to be padded for small breasts. Mine are about a D cup (due to enhancements), but not naturally close together because they are not naturally large. I will look and see if I can find a wonderbra for my size.

I used a Wonderbra in my 20s with D cups, but the girls were very firm then. I know there are some brands/styles with removable padding depending on how much of a lift you want. Some even have several pads, so you can adjust to what works best for you.

Queen Latifah has a great bra line. I can even go strapless with her.

Katie, my mom took my nephew to see Lego over the weekend. He loved it! She appreciated it which is a huge day because she hates everything.

Thanks so much for your kind words and stories ladies. It's always nice to know that someone else has been there.

Update: The party went off and it was a dramatastic mess. Not on the part of my friend though which I was thankful for. I ended up getting home late Saturday evening after having to speak with cops and giving my statement with a huge migraine. Yesterday I turned my phone off and took a break from the soul suckers. Ha!

Goodness, Lisa, I'm glad you at least weren't directly involved. Hope you can continue to get some peace from the situation.

I just received word from my tax accountant and it seems that she's worked miracles. Even with our self-employment, we are getting back a pretty good refund. I'm so glad I didn't try to do my taxes myself! Now I just have to pay her.

I think I've lost my mojo or something. I ended up with three straight UDs over the weekend and am still not feelin' it with respect to the DD today. I had an UD on Friday and planned on an DD on Saturday. I made it 'til dinner time and then had my disastrous experience with the BCAAs. I ended up eating something just to try to get the taste out of my mouth (it didn't help).

On Sunday, I did fine until almost dinner and then lost it and ate dinner (taco salad). On both Sat and Sun, I didn't eat until dinner time and didn't pig out so they weren't UUADs (probably more like an UD and then a MD). Despite that, my weight bounced right back up to about 204 lbs, which seems to be the go-to weight anymore. It's also about the average that I've been at over the last year or so.

While I like seeing the low numbers on the scale after a full fast DD, I don't really consider that my "true weight" since I am depleted after a day of fasting. Even so, I started JUDDD on Nov 12 at 211 and saw a post-DD weight of 199.0 on Dec 20. I didn't see 199 again until Jan 24th and wasn't able to get below that weight until I did two DDs and two MDs all back to back last week.

Last May, I was easily able to drop to 200 lbs after two weeks when I experimented with a very low fat diet. And that was eating every day and not counting anything. I had high hopes for JUDDD because I felt like I could cut calories and just eat what my wife and son eat (I had to make my own meals doing VLF because they didn't want to eat that way), just every other day.

I generally like eating this way and haven't had any trouble doing the fasting, until now. I'm just struggling with continuing to do it while not really getting the results I expected. I keep telling myself that the four months have included Thanksgiving, Christmas to New Years, my birthday and two bouts of antibiotics but it only kind of helps. The bottom line is that despite dieting for four months, I am still at the basic weight I was a year ago. That's better than gaining but still...

I've decided for now that I am going to drop the full fasting and eat 500 calories on DDs (mostly low fat protein) and then cut back to normal eating on UDs. I don't want to change how I eat (ie VLF) but may have to explore that later if the weight still doesn't come off or my BP doesn't drop (it dropped a lot doing VLF). I am also going to get better about exercise.

This is pretty much just my pity party, so sorry about that. I was pretty bummed about the whole thing this morning but feel pretty good about it now. I thought ranting about it may help too.

Dinner sounds wonderful, Soren.
Dinner was good! My friend undercooked the roasted veggies and the quinoa (though it was very flavorful with onions mixed in) and she knew it. Everything was edible, but just needed more time overall.
It was still fun b/c of the company

Brilliant! I like those rolls as-is, but I also have a recipe for non-yeast cinnamon buns. Maybe I'd do that in the waffler..

I did find place for it *in* the kitchen (as opposed to t he basement), so I'm sure I'll do things with it more often.

Yes, Yam, it did!

His brother (I believe) is a bariatric doctor. I don't think he did the actual surgery (b/c, you're not supposed to, right?) but he's the one who said it would control his diabetes.

Apparently, he woke up with normal blood sugar.

So, we talked about it again this visit-- and I said what I always think, which is-- if you ate and acted the way you do NOW, BEFORE, you wouldn't have had to have the surgery.

He said, well, ya, but he just couldn't. He now eats pretty LC (though with fruits and some other complex carbs). Very few sweets and treats, as SAs really just get him.
His wife (my friend) is also losing weight, which she wanted, by following the same diet.

he goes to OverEaters Anonymous 3x a week! He's actually an addiction counselor, and he knows food is as bad as drugs, etc.

All in all, he said he sees the WLS as a *tool* to help him with his addiction to carbs/food.

As long as he's healthy... just seems sooooo drastic to me.

Last word-- they just got back from a week in Jamaica, at an all-inclusive.
They both LOST WEIGHT on vacation!

Question-- why not Victoria's secret? I think if you sign up, you'll get email coupons and stuff... and they have 32 d, dd, ddd as well (I looked online). I used to wear the "perfect coverage bra" in the "body by Victoria" line.
I really liked them (still have a couple, they go up to 40 in the band).

oh no! Definitely see the dentist.

that said, my dentist suggested I see my Dr. to rule out an earache issue... but we're going to make the teethguard, I just need to book the appt.

Sometimes it's worth the expense (and it's a business expense!) to have an accountant do the taxes, they know stuff you might not (?) and it's just a relief to write a check and sign here X.

News on the homefront-- My DH got a job! He got the offer today, and accepted!
it's a wee bit lower than we wanted, but it says a salary review after the 3 month probation period. And he got 4 weeks vacation, which is also great (b/c I get it, and now we're in sync).

It's with a small company, one of the owners he met while at his previous place-- at a conference or something. He talked to her about her presentation, and I guess she remembered him. I think she also knows the owners of his previous company, and they gave him a good recommendation.
1 loooooong interview with her and the other owner (like, 2hrs?), and he thinks they are on-the-ball.

So, fingers crossed he lasts longer than a year there

We picked up Haka's remains today. I'm going to put him with Aleeya for now-- I haven't figured out what to do with them yet. I have ashes, and paw prints. I think I could put the prints into frames/shadowboxes.
Not sure about the ashes yet...

but I'm not freaking out like I was last time I picked up Aleeya. Progress.

S.

p.s. did I mention I don't have to travel to CA monthly anymore? that new-hire course I was teaching is moving to another team, so, I'm off the hook. I'll still travel, but not as much.
WOO HOO!

p.p.s-- rower coming in 4 days!

Frosty! It's no fun when we're not getting the results we want and deserve. I have no doubt you'll figure out what will work for you. I'm the queen of mixing it up, so I get it.

Soren, to you too, for picking up Haka and having a little bit of an easier time of it. I still have Reeses and Kina (both lost last year) in their paw print "urns" (really just cute tin boxes with paw prints all over them), sitting on a shelf on a bookcase in the living room. We took Shadow and Misty to the beach and spread their ashes in the water (we lost them 9 years ago and 7 years ago, respectively), and we'd like to do that with Reeses and Kina too. They loved the water. We just never seem to make it to the coast unless there's a family function where we don't feel right leaving for long enough to honor them, IYKWIM.

Also, for Mr. Soren landing a job! Woohoo!!

ETA: I didn't find anything at VS when I looked a few months ago, but it might be worth another look.

Nice finds at Kohl's, Carly. Interesting about the Soma brand and stores. I just looked and there's one at a nearby mall, so I'll have to check them out. Hope that toothache/earache isn't anything serious.

Lisa, the cops? Wow. Glad you got home and could get some peace and quiet.

Frosty, it seems like we lose our mojo when we hit one of those weight levels our bodies really really like. The steady, or at least predictable losses really keep my motivation up, and when that's gone, I find it so easy to give in more often. Like I have been lately. So that just compounds the problem. I hope you find a way to get back to it. Keep us posted.

Soren, great news about less traveling! I know that will help you stay on track with eating much more easily. I'm glad you've got Haka's ashes back. I still have both my dogs ashes, and put them in cherrywood cube boxes with photos on each side and top. I think they're pretty, and a nice reminder of my pups.
