Ah, lovely, you've found us Beverley, was just leaving a message on the January thread. Sorry.

I have had a good 'shopping' afternoon. Household stuff, but that can be fun too finding new cleaning gadgets and replacing old a tired kitchen stuff. Now I just have to use the cleaning stuff, lol.

So, Mrs. Frosty has decided she wants to ADF, though more in Varaday's style (500 cals on DD). However, she doesn't want to do a full fast like I do so now I have to come up with things she can eat. The problem is that she is so frickin' picky that it is slow going.

I am probably going to sit down and figure calorie levels for what she normally eats and come up with amounts that hit the calorie level. I've also been working through the DD recipe and DD staples threads but most of it is stuff she won't eat or stuff with gluten.

I'm sure it will be nice to have the camaraderie of the rotations. But since you don't eat, it is sort of a different ballgame. Good luck to her!

Are you doing it because you’re the household cook?

No, it's because it was my idea.

She would do the prep and cooking; she just needs some ideas. She doesn't have the first clue about calorie counts and the like. She has never needed to diet and never cared (she doesn't really need to diet now but just wants to drop a few pounds plus she's intrigued by the possibility of lowered IGF-1 levels lowering her cancer risk).

My husband fasts completely, and I’ve been eating around 500 kcals. I don’t actually count, and if your wife isn’t really bothered about weight, she might not need to, once she has a bit of idea what that number of calories covers. I suppose the first thing she needs to decide is whether she wants to start with three tiny meals or one moderate one. It should be pretty straightforward once she’s done it a few times.

She works and doesn't want to get too hungry during the day so she is thinking 200 - 250 at lunch and the balance at dinner. She normally doesn't eat breakfast.

That should work. Maybe soup at lunch time?

She might need to switch to 5:2 fairly soon if she doesn’t want to keep losing weight.

Oh, and the no cooking thing would be good, too. She recently went back to work (we have a son in college now) and has been feeling a little time stressed, so something that can be thrown together in a hurry would be good. Hard boiled eggs are one thing I came up with and someone mentioned deli turkey or lean ham wrapped around a pickle slice, which may work. Another thing she likes is cream cheese and an apple (a 1/4 bar of cream cheese is 200 calories and a medium apple is a little under 100 calories), so I have a few ideas. A protein shake may work, too.

I sometimes just grab a chunk of cold chicken or a sausage from the fridge. I just had Greek yoghurt for my dinner. Life would be even easier if I liked eggs.

I think I have myself on a good roll now with my extra activities so I am letting myself spend a little time on here again. I know I come here when I should be getting things done but I do miss hearing how everyone is doing!

I had good success with stopping my jaw clenching when I sleep by thinking about it and telling myself not to every night as I went to sleep. I also was able to stop sleep walking this way. I know it sounds too easy. I must be very suggestible and both were probably stress related for me.

I wish my husband would come back to JUDDD as it was nice to have the same eating pattern. He has regained the weight he lost before so mybe he will sometime soon.

That's great Mary on the 169!

Every week I make a batch of Linda Sue's Tuna Muffins (no grains involved) and they're available for breakfast or snacks and DH likes them for DDs.

I tend to add some snipped up dried tomato or bell pepper to the mix and sometimes some fried onion. I make them in individual silicone muffin cups and they're about 100kcals each which is good and convenient.

ETA: we always have hard-boiled eggs in the fridge - to be eaten with no more seasoning than szechuan pepper and salt, or made into a quick egg salad or used to improvise a Scotch Egg with a slice of meatloaf.

She might like those (tuna in stuff makes me gag). Back when I was zero carbing, she used to make something for me similar to that out of egg, sausage and cheese (which would be too many calories for a DD).

Kissa - I don't know how it is by you but I'm in Herts tonight and we're on flood alert and the wind is howling and gusting. The trains are cancelled and the ones that are running have to keep below 40mph.

I predict that my recent cleaning and decorating efforts will have been Sisyphean.

We are fine thanks, almost at the highest point in North London, so no flood threat here. In Devon things aren't good down by the river but again, out house is quite high.

So sorry for you and all those struggling in this terrible winter.

My thoughts are with you Slowsure. I hope that your area doesn't flood. We had a lot of flood damage here in our area this last year and it is such a long process to get things back to normal again.

Slow, I hope everything stays as dry as possible. So glad you aren't also having to deal with it, Cindy.

Frosty, that's exciting that Mrs. Frosty is going to try JUDDD. You'll have to keep us all posted, unless, of course, she feels comfortable posting here herself.

I feel kind of traitorous myself. I'm doing straight LC and not JUDDD. I hope to go back to rotations at some point, but I'm loving not doing them right now. I can't believe I used to find LC difficult, because after fasting every other day, this is a cake walk.

I meant to tell you, Cindy, that I like your avatar. Is that your cat? We have a tuxedo kitty too, though the only white on him is a tiny spot on his chest, both sets of back toes and the very tip of tail.

Thanks, it was my cat, Casper. We had 3 boys and the mother, but he ran away. We have the other two still, and their mom though.
