gain after a DD?

well, that's a new one for me. and not something i have any desire to see ever again. it wasn't even a lb, but really????? i did have a higher than usual DD, about 550 calories, but ... really????

grrrrrrrrr.

also, do you ever have a day where you just can't seem to wake up? that's me today. woke up tired, and my right eye is twitching, which usually means - that i'm tired. blah.

sorry, don't mean to be a downer. been feeling just a tad off for a while now.

sigh.

I've had gains after DDs too, Colleen. It's a real bummer, especially when you felt like it was a really good DD and expected a nice loss.

I think you said you exercised too, so that could definitely be a factor.

The good news is, sometimes I lose after an UD! I really like those! I think a lot of us are just trying to get over the holidays, as Slowsure's thread details. Having yucky winter weather certainly doesn't help.

Hang in there girl! You're so close to goal, and you know it may be slow going to get those last pounds off. But you can do it!

Yes, it happens to me - here's a clip from my January weigh-ins:
Quote:
1/9 - 140.6!! UD (1937)
1/10 - 142.2 DD (408)
1/11 - 142.8 UD (1400)(this is not logical! )
1/12 - 143.6 (huh???) UD again (1706)
That 142.8 was a slap in the face when I woke up feeling very empty after a very good DD. And then to go up almost a pound after a very low UD... well, I can't explain it.
There is no TOM anymore, and no soreness, inflammation - just a fluke I guess.

It's a downer for sure - but when I chart it on my excel file and see that it fits the overall pattern, I feel better.

I've been all over the map, gaining after a DD, losing after an UD, and any combination thereof. Weight loss is not linear. Don't despair.

No, I haven't gained after a DD, but I've come close with only a point or two loss. I've found that multiple UDs or UUADs come back to haunt me and will show up later on the scale, unfortunately. For me, one or two DDs does not get me back on track lol.

Yep, it's no fun, but like the others have said, a loss after an UD sure is! The scale is evil. Ignore it when it messes with your mind like that. You're doing great and it will come around. Vent as needed!

PS: you have TOM now, too, right? They're in cahoots, those two. (the scale and TOM) Nothing bad that happens during that time counts!!

Indeed. Ugh I had that happen once. My DD was super low like 150 and I had a gain the next day. Man I wanted to take a 45 to the blasted scale! Ok that's a bit extreme, but I did want to cry. lol

Most of the time (not all) I've gotten to the point where the number is just a number. I've gained a bit after great DDs and lost some after UUAADs. There's no figuring it out. Funny, but I really get discouraged if I gain after I know I've been very bad and have over-eaten off the charts. Like, duh, I don't understand why it's happening?

You probably needed more sleep. I'll bet another hour of sleep and you would have been down. Too bad you couldn't stay in bed and snooze a while longerr.

Changes in fluid balance. Unfortunately, women have a much rougher time with that than men do.

This too, shall piss - I mean, pass.

I can always come here for a laugh. Love you guys

Colleen, I used to always gain after a DD and lose after a UD. Now it's the opposite. I believe my body was retaining water and I just needed to adjust. If TOM is approaching it's most likely working against you. Tomorrow' s a new day.

I love that cartoon! So perfect.

FWIW, I seem to gain fairly often after a DD and lose after UDs. I just did today. It seems weird, but I think it must just be the body averaging it all out in its own way.

And anyway, the scale is an untrustworthy beeyotch.

Another gain after a DD... I woke up feeling so skinny - I had (how can I put it politely?) "lost a lot of water" over the past 12 hours, and had a really good DD yesterday -went to bed feeling positively empty.
Really looked forward to weighing this morning! What a let-down.
Carry on...

Frosty! That got me laughing out loud, thank you.

Colleen it is a fact that the scale is evil and a known liar.

But if you are feeling low that could be a cause. Inflammation is often to blame for unexplained gains. Take some time to value yourself.

I hate the cold dark winter months. The one thing I can say is that since I've been juddding I'm not as sluggish and "down" as I use to be.

Oh, and gains after a DD- All. The. Time. but, on the same note, I've had losses after an UD. For me JUDDD and the bounce are not always that predictable.

Oh Colleen, you look like you'll toast up nice and quick in the FL sunshine. Me, I'm just pasty all the time, even here in sunny AZ. Curse of the redhead.

Slim, I am a firm believer that when you feel lighter and leaner, you ARE. The scale, however, may not reflect it. So keep thinking about how your body feels, and I'll bet the scale will catch up soon.

Just curious, but why are folks weighing everyday? Dr. Johnson says on his web site:

To Help Ensure Your Success…
1.Remember to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.
2.Exercise regularly, particularly on Up Days.
3.To avoid frustration from weight fluctuations, weigh yourself only once a week, on the morning after a Down Day.

Cindy, loved your quotes on your signature. I copied and pasted them in a document and saved to my Desktop to read during my first DD Monday.

I weighed weekly when I started, only after a DD, for about 6 weeks. Then I just wanted to see the numbers. Many of us use the daily weigh in to track trends, to see how we react to different foods, or just for fun. It's really not recommended unless you can handle what we call "the bounce," but once you get used to the bounce, it can be a valuable tool, especially if you just average out the week's weights and compare to the previous week's average.
