D: Meat and veggies of some sort. I think we have pork chops, and either broccoli or cauliflower.

Today was a heckuva day, I tell you what!

I'll put it in the chat (had it 1/2 written, decided it was the wrong place)

Anyway, on track with food. Still working on dinner-- testing another recipe, although it's not hard-- beef burgers, with caramelized onions and mushrooms, and bacon.
right? LOL

B: 3 eggs and 1 slice of cheddar
L: I think I had a bowl of COLLARD GREENS which are AWESOME
D: 2 extra lean beef burgers (10oz raw, about 600 cals) and the onions/mushrooms and 4 slices of bacon
1 slice of my lighter apple cake (270)

so far I'm at 1494, but I'd like to make spaetzle (sp?) little dumplings that you make by passing the dough through a grater or food mill.

I have a new food mill, bought for the jam-a-palooza, and I want to make spaetzle in it! Going to look for a recipe now

Sadly, spaetzle requires milk... And is higher calorie than I wanted today..

Instead, i ate more apple cake, and chocolate, and came in 200 cals under my limit.

So far, so good (but I caved and had a large rum drink - SF - last night after a stressful day). Your spaetzle was making me drool though. My SIL is German and makes wonderful spaetzle.

Ooooh... can you get her recipe for me? I've found some on the internet, but one with a recommendation obviously trumps those

I'll e-mail her. I know she has a spaetzle grinder or some such thing that makes it easier to get the consistency she likes.

Yes, there are spaetzle makers, and if the dough is runnier, I've seen colanders used.

I have a food mill, and it came with 3 screens-- fine, for puree-ing (I used it to make the applesauce for the apple butter I made), a medium, and one with larger holes for making spaetzle.

That's actually what sold me on it I have it loaded and ready to go, just deciding on a recipe

Sorry, I've been slammed at work. I haven't been able to e-mail her yet, but I promise I will this weekend.
