Here is an interesting fun fact...
 
i just worked out to Jillian Micheals 30 day shred and according to my HRM (heart rate monitor) burned 154 calories. i decided to keep the HRM going as i sit here cruising the web as my little one is napping. the past 45 minutes i have burned 113 calories, post workout! i am assuming this is what they mean when they say you keep burning calories well after you are done exercising?

i thought it was interesting :) it is also a motivator for me to keep working out!

They also mean that if you grow your muscle mass, muscles take more calories to keep,going, so your resting metabolic rate goes up, and you burn more calories while sitting, sleeping... Just existing.

The cardio thing I think is good for 24 hrs, but building muscles has a longer effect on your bmr.

Either/both, good for you for getting up and moving! :high5:

It's definitely an incentive to get moving. I really want to start building some good muscle and have gotten my resistance bands from ebay, so I need to look up some good workouts on YouTube now.

DW and I joined a gym yesterday and went for 90 minutes today (a DD).

The elliptical (a much nicer one than mine) the treadmill (also very fancy) and arm circuit. I'll be sore tomorrow I'm sure.

I can only do level 1 on the 30 day shred and it practically kills me ha! Well, the first time I do it (after not doing it for a while) I can't even do all the jumping jacks! It's great that you burn calories even after the work out. Sometimes I think she can see me pathetically trying to do everything and it cracks me up when she says, "If you're looking for a modified version of (whatever the excersise is) look ELSEWHERE"! LOL

HAHA!! i know what you mean! she is brutal. i have to be careful doing her workouts as i have an injured shoulder and she sure likes to work those shoulders!!

With my knees I never do a full jumping jack or 'spotty dogs'. I have to respect this old bod. But I love lots of movement in a class. I like it when they mix up weights and cardio.

lovve jillian michaels! you definitely FEEL the burn with that video. I'm currently doing " The Wedding Workout" by womens health to tone up. Maybe afterwards I'll hop back on to Jillian Michaels.
