More hungry after eating breakfast on an UD

I'm still kinda new to this. Tell me if this is odd. When I eat breakfast on an UD, I am more hungry afterward than I was beforehand.

Today I had a low carb flax muffin and 3 thick slices of bacon. Afterward, my stomach started to growl and all I could think was, "I'm hungry. I'm hungry." Of course I gave in and ate another 3 slices of bacon.

Anyone else experience this? Will this go away? Actually, I still feel kinda hungry right now. My hunger signals are all messed up -- I think they have been for decades.

Oh yes! UD or DD, once I put something non-liquid in my mouth, I'm going to want to eat more. I don't know why that is, and I'd love to know what the mechanism is. Whether it's physical, chemical, mental. I avoid it by delaying eating until at least lunch on both UDs and DDs. It hasn't gone away for me, and I've been doing this for 15 months now.

I think there are a lot of us here who have that same experience. I've always been that way my whole life. As soon as I eat something (solid food with chewing) I just get more and more hungry.

Skipping breakfast most of the time is the best plan for me with a few exceptions.

Same here! Breakfast makes me hungry. And it doesn't matter whether it's carb-based, protein-based or fat-based - I'm much more hungry during the rest of the day than without breakfast. Strange, but true.

For me, I like eating all my UD food between noon and 8pm. It just feels less restrictive to me, like I'm eating more when I fit it into a smaller time period.

This isn't a hard and fast rule though - if I'm really hungry mid-morning I'll eat breakfast. When that happens, I'm usually satisfied till mid-afternoon, then I'll eat a snack and finish with supper. So no biggie.

I drink my coffee with H&H in the morning and that keeps me from feeling really hungry till mid-day.

Thanks! How stupid is this? I had lost track of how much I have lost and I don't ever look at my ticker. I haven't updated it in a couple of months of non-weighing. I didn't realize I was getting so close to 150 lost. Now I totally have to set my sites on that landmark!

Maybe I'll try BP coffee or something and see if that goes better. I wasn't especially hungry for breakfast but I'm a little concerned about the articles that say IF isn't good for women.

I have the same problem on DD or UD so I wait long as possible before eating and just stick to coffee, water and gum until the mean time. On UD I wait until lunch on DD I try to wait until 5-6pm or later if I can. The funny thing is that when I go that long and I finally ptake a bit of something that prolongs my hunger for a good bit longer but if I do that early on the game then all hell breaks loose.

However, this doesn't work when PMSing or other hormonal/emotional issues for me. For instance yesterday's DD I could only last until 4pm before eating and when I did I was still starving, I waited upon 20mins and I was getting irritated, hungry and just not feeling good and I had 4 hour class coming I decided to eat something decent because it was just one of those days that a DD was not going to work for me. I'm in the can't-eat-breakfast camp as well. Coffee with HWC in the morning and I try to hold out as long as possible to eat whether its a UD or DD. Depends on what my plans are for the day. Some UDs I save all my calories for dinner and dessert. Some days I'll split them between lunch and dinner.
I've never been much of a breakfast eater anyway, I always feel ill if I force it too early in the morning. Even when I was doing the (failed) small, frequent meals, eat breakfast within an hour of waking, I could not eat breakfast.

CAROL!! Wonderful news!! Happy dance for Carol!

Yennie, I am with you 100%. Even as a child, even at my highest weight, I was not and am not a breakfast eater...except that (fortunately) one day a month when long-gone-and-forgotten hormones kick in and I am ravenous.

I wonder if there is some reason so many of us are not triggered by liquid calories but respond so strongly to chewed calories? I drink my coffee with HWC in the morning and frequently do not think about food again until late afternoon/evening.

Yesss I also find myself in the same situation. If I eat in the morning of a DD, there is no way I am hitting my calorie count. Coffee until around 4pm - and then I eat a decent size dinner and I'm good !

I always found it best to wait as long as possible when I was doing JUDDD and on DD's just have black coffee until I absolutely had to have something. Then I would usually have some chicken broth around 2pm and that would keep me satisfied until around dinner time. Now I IF everyday and don't eat my first meal until after 2pm but I do have BPC in the morning and that keeps me satisfied and energized until then. If it is a low calorie day (rest day) then I will have just 1 tbsp of HWC in my coffee. I will usually have 3 mugs of coffee before 2pm though!

The liquid calories we're talking about are nearly pure fat. Fat doesn't affect insulin at all like carb and protein do.

Everyone who responded here is combining IF with JUDDD which is a lot like Krista Varady's plan. She says it's more effective to confine eating to an eating window. That fact then makes me wonder how IF compares with IF/JUDDD.

and than there was me the weirdo that eats breakfast on an UD and then doesn't have anything else to eat until dinner, and that is usually way down in calories from what it typically should be. if i wait, i snack from the minute i "break the seal" to the minute i go to bed at night. if i eat a good breakfast, i am totally stuffed until 6:00 ish. i tean eat a normal dinner and am off to bed.

if i stray from that, i eat all. day. long.

this is UD only. on DD's i try not to chew a gosh dang thing all day.

add me to the group of carol admire...ers

So awesome!!!!!!!! You are a true juddd rock star!!!

I wait to eat till dinner on UD and bedtime snack on DD.

If food passes my lips I either 1) want more or 2) become sluggish.

I was never, ever, a breakfast person. When I was a teenager I faked breakfast. I put some milk in the bowl a few cheerios and stuck it in the sink with a spoon my mother never knew the difference (hope she doesn't lurk here.)

Oh, good catch! I had not thought of the 'fat' aspect of much our usual morning drinking.

I'm the one on the right. Danielle does rather dominate the picture, doesn't she?

This is the pattern of the Ramadan fasters. There was a very famous study of this kind of fasting that showed enormous health benefits. I wish I could do it -- lunch is inconvenient in the middle of the day. I'd go crazy, though.

I don't normally eat breakfast either! If we are away on a trip and we go to breakfast, I usually get a couple of eggs and even then, they are unappetizing to me!

Lunchtime is usually when I start to get hungry and then I'm satisfied until dinner. My biggest downfall was night snacking, and right now, I *think* I have that under control.

JUDDD is a form of IF. The 500 or fewer calories over a period of roughly 36 hours is low enough to be considered a fast, even though it's not a "total" fast, if you will.

I love breakfast, but I also find that I can eat a big breakfast and still want to eat throughout the day. I tried fasting till dinner on a UD a few times lately, but I think I do better to have lunch and dinner. The days I waited to consume nearly all of my calories at night, I couldn't get enough to eat...snack, snack, snack until I went to bed.

Wow, Carol, what an inspiration you are!!!

I do better with just coffee and HWC for breakfast on DDs and then wait til around noon for lunch. On UDs, I like to have a small breakfast, but I do get hungrier with that.

When we eat breakfast, we turn on the body's fuel-burning mode, so it starts saying "feed me"! That is why so many " experts" always have said it is not good to skip breakfast. Our body stays in the overnight fasting mode and theoretically, we will be sluggish and over time, we tend to gain weight. I guess our body supposedly stays in a lower fuel-burning mode. Ha! I guess none of the "experts" have seen how much weight JUDDD buds have lost!
