Some days, yes. Some days, no. There are things I swear I used to like that just don't do it for me anymore. I don't dislike them, I just don't LOVE them anymore.
Some days, however, I can't get enough of anything.

Just being gluten free has killed my appetite. I loved to try new foods and I use to be so excited about food and I guess it is just how it is supposed to be now and I am eating for survival instead of fun or enjoyment now days but it makes me feel like I am missing out on something special when I am no longer excited by my favorite foods.

I still enjoy good food, but I don't bother eating food I don't care for. The food has to be worthy of my calories, but there are still plenty of delicious foods that I joyously eat.

I have found that going gluten free has actually given me a whole new appreciation for the actual taste of foods. Everything tastes so much better to me. Just Saturday I had a grilled chicken breast in a lemon butter caper sauce. With roasted veggies and whipped sweet potatoes off the gluten free menu and it was probably one of the best meals I have ever had. I've been gluten/grain free for the most part for a year and a half.

I have two words for you: coconut and chocolate. They can be consumed together, or enjoyed entirely for their own worth. Gluten free does not mean taste-free.

As for your question: I do have days where I feel like I don't have a "taste" for anything, but most of the time I enjoy looking forward to a delicious meal. Maybe it's just a phase you're going through.

When I hit weeks 3 and 4 of doing JUDD my appetite took a nose dive and had no hunger on UD or DDs. It only lasted a little over that two week period and then was back. How long have you been JUDDing?

I have been juddding for over a year. I think I just need to make my calories count and not just settle like I have been. My diet has been atrocious with chips and dip as my main meals so maybe focusing more on whole foods and fresh flavors will help awaken my appetite again. It's almost as if my taste buds aren't working because even when I do eat something I normally love after a couple of bites all flavor is gone I don't want it anymore and I feel nausea if I try to push myself to finish when that happens.

Yes, I think that would be a good start. Why don't you browse the web for a really good gluten-free recipe site? I love Chocolate-covered Katie's website and recipes. They're not all desserts. I enjoy looking at recipes and planning meals.

I'm sad to hear that! I really think enjoying good food is one of the pleasures in this life, and while I wish I had had more control over it during my life, I wouldn't want that to completely go away. I hope you can get it figured out and begin enjoying foods again, in their proper portions. I think you're right, eating more nutritious (and delicious) foods may just do the trick.

Anyhoo, OP, I am with you on eating too much junk lately and needing to get back to basics. Hopefully that will be key for both of us, despite our different issues! Nice to "see" you around here...hope you keep posting with us!

Still in love with food here. A lot of times I'm not hungry until later in the day on an UD and that surprises me. But there's never a time I can't be tempted by yummy food.
