Oh, thank you. It's so good to be back.

I'm donning my water-shedding thermals, ready for my kayaking trip today. 5-6hrs (depending on water temp. and likelihood of hypothermia).

I may well be cold, wet and exhausted later but I'm hugely looking forward to this.

SlowSure 01-01-2014 01:17 AM

My fault, I did a January search when I posted this thread, but Sea Breezes' one didn't show up - hers is earlier, but I can't delete this one.

Sorry - ignore this.

Brendajm 01-01-2014 05:07 AM

Slow sure, I love kayaking. Have fun. It is 25 degrees here so no kayaking. I hope for a great year with my food choices. And no more late nights. Ugh. Last night killed me.

Sirtain 01-01-2014 05:49 AM

I'm going with this thread, since it is highest on the page.

Happy New Year to all!

I've been doing yard work for the last two days, and last night, I did more in my dreams. Pitching logs off the roof, and stacking, stacking, stacking!! A sure sign that I've been doing too much! :) There will be NONE done today. Instead I'm going to watch the Rose Parade, do some crafts, and a few dishes(because I masquerade as a responsible adult).

itsmeshelly01 01-01-2014 06:27 AM

Happy New Year everyone!!!

I'm ready for a great JUDDD January!!

Im sitting here ready for the Rose Parade and going to make a breakfast bake for me and hubby. Going to enjoy a nice day off and just relax.

have a great day everyone!!!

windygap 01-01-2014 06:57 AM

Happy New Year to every one this fine day.

Carly 01-01-2014 07:23 AM

Happy 2014 my dear juddd buds!

KeirasMom 01-01-2014 08:12 AM

BRAC Analysis

I got my test results back from my BRCA1 and BRCA2 testing. No mutation detected! :jumpjoy: (This is the testing Angelina Jolie had to determine if she was at high risk genetically for various types of cancers. Her's was positive and she had a double mastectomy and her ovaries removed.) Happy New Year to all. This gets things started out well for me.

What a relief for both you and Keira - that is fabulous news and a splendid start to the year.

Yennie 01-01-2014 08:28 AM

Yay Dawn. Great news!
Happy New Year friends. I was asleep by 9:30 last night. Woke up to a bunch of texts on my phone sent around midnight. Sorry for not responding - I was konked out!

Kissa 01-01-2014 09:34 AM

Wonderful news Dawn.

Happy new year folks!

Great news Dawn!

I'm just mentally preparing myself for the dd tomorrow, getting my mojo flowing, and cleaning up the basement so I can get some exercise going. I'm thinking yoga and walking on the treadmill.

My resolution is to keep posting here, daily. When I don't, it's all going to he!!... So that is my one goal.
And eat more veggies.
And not renovate any kitchens ;)

:hugs: omg I missed you guys!!!

Soren I think this is one of the most important things to do. We miss you too. Hope yo are well again now.

Carly 01-01-2014 10:39 AM

Soren, you can do it!

I'm amazed by the borage of weight loss commercials on T.V.
Nutrisystem, W.W., Jenny Craig, etc...

They all want fees and want you to buy their food.
JUDDD is free and you buy LESS food :)

calichris 01-01-2014 10:51 AM

Great news, Dawn! :jumpjoy:
How did you get that test? (did the doctor initiate it, or did you?)

Soren - sounds like a great plan. Here's to 2014!

:welcome: back Kim! I'm just recently back myself. Great to be here, isn't it?

Kissa 01-01-2014 10:54 AM

I so agree Carly, we don't get quite so much of that over here but I never understand how people believe you can buy weight loss...

I am feeling very bloated, and no surprise after the past few days of glorious food and drink.

Tomorrow will be my first DD and this month is looking pleasantly free of commitments to derail my rotations, although I am something of an expert at switching them when needed.

I had such great success with regular rotations at the start of December even seeing 126, my precise goal. Looking forward to feeling 'normal' again.

leonak 01-01-2014 11:03 AM

Dawn - great news on your tests!

We had 17 below zero this morning!!! Just had lunch and am ready to take a nap!

2014 is going to be a great year for each and everyone here!

So, that's approx. -4C? We've got air temps of around 9C because it's raining so much (upside, lots of cloud cover). However, the wind chill factor is high as we have a storm front again (3rd in a week) so today's trip was curtailed by the group leaders (sensible decision given the level of risk).

We're bracing ourselves for more flooding in the UK. The fields nearby are completely sodden and lots of the roads have quite deep patches of standing water.

I'm hoping the storm passes without bursting the nearby river banks or flooding the canal where I'm due to paddle on Saturday (completely selfish).

I've only been kayaking for approx. a year but it's my favourite leisure activity. Do you kayak flat, sea, whitewater or a mix?

Flutter 01-01-2014 11:52 AM

Happy new year all!!!!

Dawn, great news!!!! Did something happen that caused you to go in for testing? I am, admittedly, out of the loop here. I hope you've been ok?

sorenkkg 01-01-2014 01:07 PM

Re: feeling better. Quite a bit, but not 100%. I'm stuck at post-nasal drip and resultant coughing. So I'm taking my steroid nasal spray that the dr gave me last year for this exact situation, and I've had one night and one nap cough free, which is a good start!
I sort of cough and "ahem" when I'm up, sometimes take a sugar free cough drop.
I found honey (straight, unadulterated) right before sleep works super well, but I'm trying to get off even that if I can. Like I said, last night and today's nap, none needed. Woo!

I'm avoiding tv for those reasons- the ads just make me sad. People need to find what works for them, but imagining the whole journey for other folks just makes me sad for them.
Same with the gym memberships- I think exercise is important, and I feel the need in myself to get started again. But not for loss. Toning, cardio, joints/limberness, mental - yes.
So much written, and there no one answer, just what works for each person.

Ok - I'm venturing into the -16C with dh and the dog, to deliver the last of the neighbour gifts (homemade liqueur, and homemade quince jam), and then run right back to the couch and blankie!

Carly 01-01-2014 01:50 PM

I know what you mean Soren, about the expense (monetarily) that people go to, to lose weight.

I would like to join a gym, but I'm not sure if I would utilize it enough. I have an elliptical/ stationary bike, which I use pretty regularly. I prefer outdoor walking, but it's 18* today without the wind chill and I just can't do it- so glad I have cats- I would cry if I had to walk them today.

MaryEllenC 01-01-2014 02:09 PM

Wonderful news Dawn! Must be such a relief!

I slept in this morning and then helped hubby put the Christmas decorations away. Cleaned the floors, cooked dinner, and made some Almost Rice Pudding (altered the ingredients a bit from the original LC version to make it a little more DD friendly). Now I get to relax and play on the Internet!

Mary Ellen

itsmeshelly01 01-01-2014 02:20 PM

That is great news Dawn!! Great way to start the new year!!

You guys have some great resolutions going. Mine is pretty much the same. Keep posting here and I also have to stop being so negative. it is really hurting my marriage and DH has seriously asked me and told me that I need to stop. It really bothers him. My self esteem is so extremely bad right now. It is hurting both of us. So I have to stop talking so bad about myself so much and try my hardest to be happy. it is hard when I keep gaining this dang weight and cant figure out to get it off and not understanding what is causing the weight gain is even more frustrating. But I have promised him that I will try my hardest to stop talking negative about myself and try to act happier and maybe it will rub off and be real!! I hope. I go to the in February and maybe I can get some testing done.

Mary, what is the almost rice pudding!! Sounds good!!

Kissa 01-01-2014 02:53 PM

Shelly, we talked about having a thread to help us learn to love ourselves, we really need one. You are a wonderful, beautiful woman and clearly your DH believes that too. You have also made incredible strides in your weight loss. Please allow us to help you. Tell us something great about yourself daily. :)

Soren, so glad you are feeling somewhat better. Keep warm.
