Wide awake right now. I think that drive home and shoveling zapped all my energy so I passed out early. Looking outside my window and I really hope a plow comes through soon because I'm definitely not getting into work before noon. It's going to be a long day.

Lisa - don't know if you want the plow to come - or rather stay home? I vote for staying home - it's cold out there!

Soren - agreed... beautiful avi!! Such a sweet smile!

JD - arranged marriage, now that is interesting. I understand the culture of waiting on a DH. My DH was raised by a very GERMAN born woman who believes you wait on a man hand and foot and she EXPECTED it of me when I married her only son. Ah - no. My dad was a hands on husband back in the 50s - to me the men of the house cooked and helped with the kids - don't know that he did housework much, but repairs in the house, yes. I expected no less from my DH and in some areas I trained him - and would repeat... I AM NOT YOUR MOTHER. LOL

Grains of any kind in the morning leave me feeling weak and super hungry. I have made rolled oats with almond milk and cinnamon - love the taste, but without lots of side protein to balance it - no go. I have taken to making baked oatmeal and have it for dessert at dinner, adding some dried fruit and natural applesauce for sweetness - and walnuts!

Frosty - my expression for my DH is "Which arm is broke?" when he asks for favors that he COULD do for himself. At the same time, my DH also works hard, so many times I do wait on him very happily - but if he could only recognize DIRT that he tracks thru the house and remove it without my nagging... I'd be in heaven. LOL MY DH is very much like Pigpen from the Snoopy comics - he seems to have a dust trail behind him at all times. LOL He enjoys tinkering with dirty things in the garage and is always outside - and it all comes in on his shoes and clothing.

I heard the areas south of us got slammed with snow. We didn't get a flake (the local weather guru said anything north of 84 was a "bust" zone and that's me!) so for once I don't have to shovel anything! I really hate when it snows since I don't have the option of staying home if the roads are bad. If we don't go in we don't get paid that day and can't use a sick day. If you do go into work drive safe!

We're open! Bummer! Just got the call we won't be plowed until 9 AM. 15 inches of snow here and all we got were school delays. NY is getting gangsta in my old age.

I wish I could stay home, but the clients won't care that we have to fight our way into work. They'll all be there waiting to be fed and entertained.

I drank the wine--it was so fruity. I went up 3 lbs this morning and I also feel like hell lol.

Soren, you look beautiful in your new avi!

Aww, Lisa I was hoping you'd get to stay home. I wish we'd get even an inch of snow so that they would make us stay home. That's the way it works down here.

DW and I stayed home. It is 1* with windchill -21.
The ride home last night was terrible and we have almost a foot of snow.
We always go in, but this time decided not to be heros. I'm proud of both of us because we struggle to do this kind of thing.

Soren your new avi is just lovely!

DW and I have a fairly even division of labor. I do hate dishes so she does those more, but I usually cook. We do the laundry and grocery shopping together most of the time. I write all the lists and make sure we don't run out of stuff. She does the heavy labor when needed.

Still snowing - but I look at it this way, I only have to make one trip home - it can be now or later, but either way it's snowing - and the plows will be out more if I wait a bit.
How sweet of that volunteer to come in and tell you how much you meant to her / her family!

Soren, gorgeous as always!

DH just texted me that he's going to the DMV to renew his license. He's putting his weight at 200. He still has 30 pounds to go, but I have no doubt he'll get there.

Yeah, DW will do things for me because she wants to, not because it's expected or demanded. The demanding thing wouldn't go over very well.

I learned to cook when I was a kid. Both of my parents worked and since I'm the oldest, it was frequently up to me to start dinner or cook dinner if they weren't going to be home. I didn't do too bad though my sister still likes to talk about some of my concoctions (not in a fond way).

DW does most of the cooking but I help when needed with prep and there are certain meals that I do the cooking. She normally does the dishes because I don't load the dishwasher "correctly" and she does the laundry, though I can do it if necessary. A lot of the other cleaning is up to me.

To be honest, I am a bit mystified over men that won't/can't cook and won't lift a finger around the house. It's the 21st century, folks.

Thanks.

I don't think I own a single article of clothing that needs to be ironed. I think the only thing the iron ever gets used for is to smooth out DW's fabric that she uses for quilting/crafts.

DH, is that you?

My DH does most of the cooking and does his own laundry. I do the bulk of the cleaning (um, when it actually gets done) and my own and Keira's laundry, but DH helps with the cleaning when needed. Floors are usually relegated to him because he does a much better job of it than I do. We don't have a dishwasher, but I do the dishes because he doesn't do them to my standards. At work, I always reload the dishwasher because the guys do it "wrong."

Back when there was a lot of talk about Islamic martyrs supposedly getting 72 virgins in heaven, a friend told me that 72 virgins sounds great until you realize that eventually all you have is 72 women telling you that you are loading the dishwasher wrong.

Ok you reloaders - do you also wait to run the dishwasher until it is asolutely full, even if it means you are down to eating soup with grapefruit spoons?

Because that drives me crazy.

Yes, you are a beauty!

Lisa, bummer you have to go in. Be careful!

Carly and Chelly, enjoy your snow day! It's a great beginning to that New Year's resolution of saying "no", Carly. WTG!

Cindy/LG, wine gains are just leftover happiness and good feelings, you know. Yes, happiness has weight. You didn't know that?

Dawn, I didn't know you could put your correct weight on a drivers license. Live and learn.

Frosty, you sound like a good guy! And I'm with you on ironing. I used to iron every Sunday after laundry, for a couple of hours. NO MORE!

Dawn, you don't have a dishwasher???????? NOOOOOOO!

He doesn't know how the dish washer works, no laundry, no ironing, no shopping, no cooking, nada, jilts! Food and tea served to him on the table! But to be honest he does work hard! So I feel very sorry for him and feel it's only fare that I serve him hand & foot as I'm home all day doing things my way! Mind you I was doing things this way even when I was working full time! Old Indian mentality and great expectations on his part, I suppose! I have been telling him lately, that when he retires I will too (from all household chores unless he helps)! However, when he's on call I have complete free days and I sometimes think our marriage survived 36+ yrs so far because of his working schedule! and possibly, because he is just a very nice man (sometimes); at least that's what everybody tells me!
I would not say DH is trained. LOL! Far from it. However, I feel like you in that he has been a good provider and a hard worker all his life. Pleasing him is something I enjoy, especially since he is soooooooo grateful and appreciative. He is constantly telling me what a great cook I am, how hard I work, I'm beautiful, etc. He sings "You make me so very happy! I'm so glad you came into my life!" several times a day at the top of his lungs. He's a keeper.

We have a pretty good division of labor but I'll probably still drive her crazy if I ever get to retire.

soup with a grapefruit spoon. You all have me cracking up this morning.

OMGosh! not me. I can't stand dirty dishes every where. As soon as there is stuff in it I run it. Probably bad for the environment and our electric bill. It's a water saver, but with our drought I should probably start running it less. Don't tell anyone. Governor Brown might have me arrested.

That is so great! I think I'm kind of adopting that philosophy. DH used to accuse me of having a motto because I was a perfectionist: "I have to do it. I have to do it right. and I have to do it right now!"

I'm working er not working? on not being a perfectionist any more. Trying to tolerate a bit of clutter. (DH is completely in love with clutter and I try to confine him and his clutter to his office and his side of the bed in our room and our walk in closet. He has his own bathroom now so I just don't go in there and I keep the door closed!)

I resist the urge to pick up every piece of lint I see on the carpet or have every flat surface empty. We are just hanging out and living.

He is constantly telling me what a great cook I am, how hard I work, I'm beautiful, etc. He sings "You make me so very happy! I'm so glad you came into my life!" several times a day at the top of his lungs. He's a keeper.
Since I love my wife so much, I would never sing to her. That is only reserved for my worst enemy.

au contraire, Mon frere! She would love it. My DH has no clue what it means to sing on key. We used to joke that the closest he ever came to carrying a tune was when he used to carry my guitar in case for me when I had a gig. He is a horrible off-tune, scratchy voice singer. To me, that makes it all the more adorable and lovely! It melts my heart!

Try singing a line from a love song to your DW. You might be surprised!

Sounds like me. Then I get resentful because I really *do* care, while bf could sit in filth with trash piled up to his head if the PS4 still worked properly.
