I'm sorry to hear that, Soren. It's really hard to lose a pet. Last September, we unexpectedly lost one of our kitties (she had a congenital heart defect). Even though we only had her for a little over a year, it still makes me sad to think of her, though I am also thankful for the time we did have with her.

Sorry Soren
I always had a dog when I was growing up, loved them so much.
We are never ready to lose our pets no matter the reason it hurts.
Feel for you.

Aw, Soren. I'm sorry ... You've just been through this, it seems. going out to you. It does sound like the right time, but it's so hard even when you know that. I had two dogs I raised from puppies that passed within three months of each other. Thinking about you guys.

Was out selling Girl Scout cookies with Littlest yesterday. They are doing in-hand sales this year, so we were lugging a cart with boxes piled up. A man out walking saw us, stopped, then approached cautiously.
"Are those...Girl Scout cookies?" he asked.
"They are!" Littlest replied. "You know you want some!" (She was in full-on selling mode.)
He came up to us, saying, "My cardiologist told me I need to walk more, and the first thing I see is Girl Scout cookies!"
We all laughed.
And he bought a box.

soren, i just wanted you to know i am sending you many hugs, thru cyber space and across the pond. one of the absolute hardest parts of loving a pet is the responsibility of knowing when their poor little bodies have had enough. it is the ultimate decision of love, that last important thing we do for them to show them how very much they have meant to us their whole precious lives. please know that i am thinking of you and hurting right along with you.

Soren. We lost 3 fur-babies last year and know how devastating it is. My heart's breaking for you, DH, and Haka, but rejoicing for Aleeya who will soon have her litter/playmate back with her.

Okay, so you all know I can't cook. Of course I can make very basic dishes. I grill and awesome steak, etc. Well, today I was making eggs for breakfast. I have never mastered the art of omelette preparation. So what I do is just scramble my eggs, put some cheese in the pan in the last few seconds, put it on a plate and top with salsa. Keira came out and saw my breakfast and got wide-eyed and said, "Mom, did you make an OMELETTE?" I said, "No, sweety, I just scrambled the eggs and put the toppings on." She said, "Well, it looks like an omelette. Maybe we can call it a MOMELETTE!" I sure love that kid. Even when she makes fun of me, it's clever.

thank you all for your support here. It's helping me quite a bit.

Dawn, I do think of that. My dad passed in 2001, and he was a HUGE dog lover, and I like to think that Aleeya found him.

I also think that Haka, with his very high "prey drive" (it's a greyhound thing ) will be giving all the little doggies a gooooooood run for their money

BTW, I talked to the vet, and she said it's ok to give him some of the Xanax we have for him (for fireworks) before going in.

She cleaned his ears a year or 2 ago (did I tell you this already?) and now he hates going into that office. He'll go to the other one, but the last couple times I had to drag him through the door of the ear-cleaning-vet's-office.
Anyway, I didn't want it to interfere with whatever she was going to do-- weird to be worrying about drug interactions, maybe.

So, we'll dope him up a bit, and then I think go for a bit of a drive in the car in the morning before.

I woke up too early again this morning - 3:20 am. That happened last Saturday morning too. Both after DDs. I won't jump to conclusions yet and blame JUDDD. After 16 months and not having any sleep problems at all, I can't imagine it would start now. So anyway, I tried to sleep for an hour or so, then got up and did some work reading. At least I was able to do something productive. Last week when it happened I was flying with energy all that next day. Today, I feel good, but slightly tired. Weird.

I've been having trouble sleeping lately too, LCG. But, I blame my cats and my bf. Yowling to be let in the room, or let out (the cats), and talking too loudly or slamming things around in the kitchen (bf).

I'm relieved to hear it's not BF yowling to be let in or out.

I really hope this sleeping thing isn't JUDDD related. I have the feeling not, as I am, and always have been, an excellent sleeper. Adi, earplugs may be the answer. I have the feeling some noise is waking me around 3:00, but I don't consciously hear anything. I have some neighbors that leave pretty early in the morning - maybe I hear their car door or something.

I agree with trying ear plugs. There's something about tuning the entire world out that makes you sleep better. I've been having some weird sleepless nights lately as well, but I don't think it's due to JUDDD. Hope you get some rest Carol.

Getting ready to head to a Bridal Shower planning dinner for Bridezilla. I'm hoping she hasn't created any further drama because it's been a long, draining week and I'm not in the mood to Pat a bunch of girls on the back and tell them how great they are today.

Awww Soren, Haka is lovely, if this is him in the Avatar!

Talking of sleep, my sleeping pattern is up the creek! I can't go to sleep until into wee hrs of the morning! Even if I go to bed a little early like 1 or 2 am, I just toss and turn! Mine is probably a combination of DDs and generally night owlness Or it could be that my daughter just moved to Brisbane 10 days ago and skyping with her makes my mind active. She is trying to settle in before the school starts next week. I must be missing and worrying about her or something Thank God, I have the luxury of being able to sleep late as DH leaves very early!

From long experience I learned a few things about sleeping, or lack thereof...late DH was a night owl and was up all night. I sometimes thought we were tag-teaming the bed. I was an early-to-rise person who is quite sensitive to light...even the lights on the electronic thingies would be enough to keep me awake for hours. So that's the first thing to eliminate from the bedroom...bedrooms are for sleeping and, well, you know.

I also learned sometime ago, that we have a residual part of the brain that is always trying to protect us and is checking for noises during our sleep periods, at least so say the x-spurts (x=unknown factor, spurts= a drip under pressure). I picked up a white-noise maker (I use the rain forest), make sure the door is closed (I know my house is secure) and the windows are foiled. I keep an eye thingie in the nightstand and I sleep like a baby...sometimes tossing and turning all night, some times out like a light.

I know some of our friends won't be able to do some of these, but maybe you can find a suggestion you can use.

p.s. After some time on this woe, I've found that I sleep much better when I'm sticking to my DD goals. It's the best of both worlds; I get the energy and the ability to sleep better, too. I know I'm really sticking to it when I've the empty feeling in the tummy as I'm laying down, but then I fall to sleep quickly and I don't think about food...sometimes a 100 calories or so before bed helps, too.

Thanks all for the sleeping suggestions. I'm really hoping this is just a fluke and not an emerging pattern. I'm keeping track of when it happens (so far both after DDs) and if it does become a pattern I'll have to start thinking about solutions. I'm sorry to hear so many have problems sleeping!

I think I will get some earplugs. I don't know why I haven't tried that yet lol. My ex used to sleep with earplugs because of my snoring.

LCG, you may sleep a little lighter on DD nights, which may make you more sensitive to outside noises. Maybe we both need some earplugs!
