Hi everyone!! I started yet again yesterday with a DD and am happy to report that I stayed under 200 calories!! I did notice that the day DRAGGED on...I guess lots of my daily activities revolve around food...I kept looking at the clock and wondering when the day was over. I am going to try to keep my DDs very low and see how that goes...I did lose 3.2 pounds as of this morning

Good luck everyone!!

Kim

HI! I'm new (again)...I've done JUDDD before and loved it, but I fell away from it and all dieting. I went way overboard over the holidays and I've been feeling really lousy.Had a pretty good down day today not perfect, but under 500 cals. I always enjoy all your posts and the positive energy here....glad to be back. I also ordered the book a couple days ago.

I'm not exactly new. However I haven't posted in ages and I am starting anew.

A recap: I am a wife, over 40 years (I think I was born married and mom of three great grown-up kids and four almost grown up grandkids. I love them all and am happy that we're a close family.

In 2010 I starting losing weight with low carb. I had tried it around 2000 and lost 40 pounds quite easily. But as always, bad old habits took over and I gained it all back.

In 2010 I just started feeling tired and probably a bit depressed over the life long struggle with my weight. I finally came to terms with the fact that I am not getting any younger and fixing bad habits now would be very worth giving another shot.

I lost 65-70 fairly easily and felt better and was able to do everyday things that I had slowly begun to let slip by the way side (I believe ignoring these "wake up calls" is what sometimes makes us old and sick.

But, I kinda hit a wall there and haven't been able to keep any more off. I eat much better. I don't eat nearly as much and I stick as close to whole foods as I can without feeling deprived.

My husband and I like to travel and visit new places and this always involved a lot of walking when we find a cool place we want to explore. My knees starting giving me major problems on our last trip.

Another wake up call. I really don't want to wreck my knees if I can save them by losing more weight (which my doc seems to think).

I am back with full speed getting serious once again about getting at least 60 to 70 more off, then we will see.

I need all the help I can get, so here I am again! There isn't another online group I've found that is as supportive, helpful and knowledgable than all you lovely JUDDbudds!

Hi Jan, I remember you, we are Round the same age and my DH and I also love to travel, which is great but like you my knees were giving me big problems a couple of years ago.

I truly believe that losing those pounds will make a tremendous difference. I am no doctor but for what it is worth I have had great success by taking mega doses of Glucosamine. I take 4,500 mg a day. 2 tablets of 1,500 each night and one in the morning. Just saying, I know it has been life changing for me.

Thanks, Carol! This is a great time to get back into the swing of things. So far I am doing good. I've learned to be much easier on myself which should help me stick with it. You are doing great! Thanks for being such a great support to so many in this group.

Hi Cindy! Thanks for the welcome back. You are as lovely on the outside as you are inside. Beautiful pic. I do take glucosamine. 3000 mg a day. And it does seem to help. We have been back a few weeks now and knees are much better. I've lost about 5 lbs and been vigilant about sitting too long. I also do some knee exercises, so yeah I am doing whatever I can to get rid of the knee pain.

I'm back (again) and this time it looks like it will stick. I've already lost 4 pounds and feel soooooo much better than just a week ago! My down days have also been easier this time around, my up days are the toughies as I just don't want to eat to eat I want to eat when I really feel hunger. Yesterday for example, I could have gotten by perfectly well under 1,000 cals but ate due to my numbers.

Becky, it's good to meet you.

A number of us are JUDDD rebooters for whom the 2nd time was the charm (*raises hand* to include self in that) and it looks as if that may well be true of you if you're finding the DDs more straightforward this time around.

Good to hear from you here and if there's anything you need to ask, do speak up.

Hey all!
I started 12/26 and kind of flubbed it so I'm going to claim starting in January instead! Today was my 3rd good DD, although I went a teensy above where I wanted to today due to a very stressful thing that happened (I didn't stress-eat, but I was left kind of shaking and headachy and so ate some protein for brekkie when I meant to NOT eat until this afternoon. You do what you have to do!). Anyway, I am counting this as a 3rd good DD for 5 full days very strictly on JUDDD.
I will spare you all my diet history as it spans decades, except to say that while I have been a little less fat than I am now, I have not lost weight on any WOE for the past 20 years. I've weighed the same, +/-10 lbs, for 20 years! Right now I'm at the +10 lbs spot, though, which is always when I take action. I can't usually get below 170 or so unless I starve myself.
I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and am hypothyroid, although I'm finally being treated for that.
I have not eaten gluten for 10 years.
I feel physically the BEST when I eat LC.
Anyhoo, I feel encouraged about this WOE - not sure why, except it makes sense! I'm doing it LC-ish. My DD calories need to stay below 400. UD - ?? I figure a couple more weeks of good rotations and I'll start worrying about UDs. My goal right now is to eat "normally" on UDs, which is not a problem if I stay LC.

Good start Agee, sorry you had a hard time this morning.

I really hope that JUDDD helps you to break the pattern of the same losses and gains. Check in often on lots of threads, it really helps.

Thanks so much, y'all! DD went well yesterday. No big losses yet, but that would be rare for me anyway. My body is very stubborn that way. So far I'm down about 2 lbs here on day 6 - I will take it!

I need to disagree with Eieio. I don't think JUDDD is hard. I think it is the easiest way of weight reduction/health improvement I have ever done.

Sure, there are things to get used to. And few can do it PERFECTLY.

But once you get used to the routine, and find which tricks work for you, you may find you look forward to the rotations. And it is so easy to get back into.

So, don't let any difficulties at first discourage you. There will ALWAYS be difficulties, with whatever program. Just keep coming here (the JUDDD thread is fantastically supportive) and you will get through them, and before you know it, you'll be on the Newbies board sharing how great JUDDD has been for YOU!

I agree, JUDDD is actually one of the easiest most effective ways of eating I have ever done, I know it works as I lost 20 pounds last time in 8 weeks and so far am doing great this time around too. JUDDD does require planning, a lot of planning or you set yourself up for failure (same as with any other diet IMO). Down days can be killer at first because I personally think very few people know what true hunger feels like, we are generally ruled by the clock....7:30 breakfast, noon lunch, 6:00 supper with a variets of snacks thrown in for good measure throughout the day, and the average serving size is HUGE! we simply do not require all that food...one of my kids is a boredom eater (got it from me!) and I have to ask him if he is really hungry when he reaches for food, we also got him involved in karate and he practises when he is "bored" after homework and before his 1 hour of iTouch.
