Reading and have questions

So I've been reading some on the 5:2 and 16:8 fasting plans. Isn't this the same a JUDDD? Basically the same premise, but without as many down days? The JUDDD idea is the sirt1 which isn't included in the 5:2 and 16:8? But wouldn't that process be happening anyways?

Anyone clarify the difference? And share experiences with both?

They're all forms of IF (intermittent fasting), and have many of the same benefits. JUDDD/ADF supposedly gets the SIRT1's going stronger and faster, although I'm not sure that's been scientifically proven. Any of the IF routines should help you lose weight and improve health. The weight loss may be faster on some plans, but we each need to find the plan that works best for us.

16:8 is really different from my understanding. That is eating every day, but only in an 8 hour window.

5:2 is less down days than juddd and some people do 2000/500 with 5:2 which would be far more calories than smaller people get on juddd.

5:2 should keep SIRTs activated, but I would imagine that one would build up SIRTs very slowly with 5:2.

JUDDD actually stands for (Johnson's Up Day/Down Day), as I'm sure you know. Which is, by definition ADF (alternate day fasting). 5:2, is 2 fasting days within a seven day period, which would not be EOD (every other day). I'm not sure about 16:8, unless that is the 8-hour window diet. As LCG stated, they all have health benefits and some people say that can lose with only fasting 2 days, or restricting calories to a window of time, so it's probably going to come down to trial and error. ;) Good luck on finding a plan that fits with your life.:hugs:
