JUDD and LC

Is it possible to do JUDD while staying low carb? I would like to try, but am afraid that reintroducing low calorie, high carb foods would derail me! Thanks in advance!
Charla:)

Yes, you can definitely do JUDDD and still stay LC. :)

handbells 12-14-2013 04:22 PM

Absolutely! You can do any plan while also doing JUDDD!

Lots of people her do just this with great success. JUDDD is simply a tool… that works.

I stayed pretty much Induction level LC for the first couple of months I JUDDD'd. Since then I've done it both ways, and it all works! My body just feels better when I limit my carbs, so I try to, but not to Induction levels. And of course now with the holidays, all bets are off!

I am another one who has had great success with stay low carb on JUDDD. I think it makes the Down Days even easier.

I am also trying to stay lowcarb. I have upped my carbs some. I'm not at induction level anymore and I love that. I have had a couple of cookies, which I wont be doing much.
But im enjoying have some fruit again. Especially apples and grapefruit.
I'm going to be trying to limit grains and processed foods as much as possible. With just the occasional indulgence.
But I cant eat really high carb and it work. I get too many cravings and I end up binging on DD's. I can do this better when my carbs are lower on my UD's and DD's.

I agree with the others. I've been doing JUDDD low carb and actually had a really hard time getting all of my calories in on UDs because of the satiety low carb provides. Last week I had decided to not worry about low carb until after the holidays and have found the cravings are awful. Yesterday should have been a DD for me and the whole weekend was pretty much one long binge. I love JUDDD, but don't think I can do it with higher carbs.

I'm the same, Rosebud--I KNOW I couldn't do this if I went back to carbs. Sugar and grains take a sledgehammer to my hunger switch, immediately. On UDs I have added in a serving of starchy veg (winter squash or peas) and one of fruit, bringing me up to around 60 total.

That said, with enough low-carb cheesecake I've had no problem eating up to my calories, at least on my last UD. If I stay away from the treats, though, it can be tricky.

I too must stay away from grains. And sugar. It makes me crave more and more. And makes me feel sluggish.

Thanks for the replies! I obviously forgot the last D in JUDDD and couldn't figure out how to edit :dunno:
I too feel that I would be out of control with too many carbs! Would any of you mind sharing a typical DD menu while staying LC? I'm still at induction level, and would like to stay at that level for a while. It seems that after each of my 3 pregnancies, I lose to 200 and stay there. I'm hoping JUDDD will help me over that hump!!

Charla, I can give you examples of what I have done on DDs before, and sometimes still do:

I usually have either nothing but iced or hot tea for breakfast and save my Coffee/HWC for lunch, but sometimes I do the opposite - have my coffee early and then not much until dinner.

Dinner could be comprised of hard boiled eggs w/mustard or just S&P, or bacon, or a couple of cans of tuna with dill relish or lemon juice and lemon pepper. Sometimes I'll scramble a couple of eggs and put salsa on top. Occasionally I have eaten a few oz of deli ham or turkey for dinner.

Hope that helps!

I think the most important thing about mixing low-carb and JUDDD is to stay low carb on the Up Days.

If I get too carby, that makes the following Down Day a struggle as my blood sugar comes back from the peak and drop.(Although, less so the longer I have been low-carb. My body gets better about dealing with a one-off carb situation. But a whole day, or two, of carbs? Trouble.)

And my favorite kind of Down day is fasting. But a good low-carb Down Day for me is 4oz of salmon, with 1t mayonaise, three times a day. That gives 60g of protein, 11g of fat, and about 3-6g carbs, for under 400 calories.

coffee with HWC
turkey slices wrapped around a pickle spear
HB egg or eggs

This was my staple menu during WLM

I may try low carb on my next UD and just see what happens. Or at least try my best to cut breads and sugar. Maybe try only having 1 UD per week where I eat breads and/or treats. :)
