UD Saturday Dec 14

Today I decided to stay low carb on my UD. I have alot of food allergies and I thought if I ate whatever I wanted in small amounts that it wouldnt trigger my food allergies. I guess I was in denial or something. I cant eat wheat, dairy or eggs.

I have to find recipes that do not have these things if I am to succeed on this for the long term.

Shay...

I have some experience with this. I included JUDDD into my woe on the first of December, and have been LC since my restart on august 25th.

The mindset of JUDDD doesn't care where your calories come from doesn't work for me either. I absolutely cannot include carbs that come from crappy sources. I can include "good" carbs from veggies, and such just like when I was doing LC but I have learned that I have to stay LC. Main reason is it sets me up on a slippery slope of thinking I can eat processed junk again. Think... Chips, breads, processed food. Chicken n dumplings for gosh sake. All that did for me was put me over my allowed calories, and derail me from LC. And I felt crappy, same vicious carb symptoms came back with friends. Headache, lethargic, achy joints, sleeping horribly, tummy disturbed, not to mention the feeling of failure that could take up another entire thread. Plus looking back, it likely derailed my JUDDD progress also.

I knew better. And I have to realize and understand that LC is first. Has to be.. For me.

I know.. Because I read it in the threads here that there are some that can include higher carb items, processed foods etc into their JUDDD woe. I found out that ain't me. Kinda sucks because after three or four months of LC and then adding JUDDD I was hoping I could be that person that could include some old habits. I can't. Oh well.

I don't have allergies like you, but it's become painfully obvious that I have big sensitivities to wheat, grains and processed foods. So your not alone on this path honey. Hang in there, we will both find our own way.

Thanks Susan. Its difficult. I'm reflecting on saying, "Ef it" and just make the mental connection that food is for my body and love is for my soul. Just eat what I have to eat and keep it moving.

Good thoughts, Ladies.I have tried cutting out carbs and sugar in the past, and got so frustrated that I was over compensating and gaining later. I do feel that sugar and carbs in the form of processed foods are not good for me, but something about making any kind of food completely off limits derails me every time.

B-coffee
pumpkin spiced almonds

Shay and Susan I am in the same boat.

I have done JUDDD before and ate what I wanted and it made me feel like crap and made my DD's even harder. I didn't lose weight like I could have. I have to keep things low carb too. I don't have major allergies but I cannot eat tons of wheat and processed foods. I just cant. I wish I could but I know I cant. JUDDD allows me indulge a little bit but not much. I am able to eat fruit again on JUDDD, which I totally love but eating pizza, burgers, cookies, things like that is out for me except for maybe a bite or 2.

We can do this though. I had a great DD yesterday and am looking forward to my UD today.
I tried to make a lowcarb naan bread recipe I found this morning and it was a fail!!! It calls for tapioca flour and I had arrowroot and it didn't work well. I ate about half of it and then had to toss the rest. I thought it would make a breakfast burrito. Not so much!!!

So my breakfast was half of that awful naan and 2 eggs with a little cheddar cooked in coconut oil. A few almonds and hazelnuts. I had coffee with cream from 7 eleven and now im having some hot cocoa with half a packet of swiss miss hot cocoa mix.

We are going to a new Mexican restaurant for lunch and I know I will eat some chips. For some reason things made with corn don't bother quite as bad so I can eat a few tortilla chips and im ok.
I'll keep it pretty lowcarb though and have a salad. Even though I would so love to indulge and have enchiladas!!! But I wont!!

I don't know about dinner yet. Probably chicken breast or hamburger patties with a salad.

Have a great UD guys!!!

When I notice that I've stalled I pay more attention to the sweets that I've been eating. I try to go low carb, but for me it's more about just not binge eating. If only I binge on celery and not cookies.

B: Bagel thin w/ cc and boiled egg
L: Leftover chicken parm
D: No idea.

I tried to go out sledding with the kids today in an effort to be more active but the weather is just so bad out there right today (-17C, 1F) we had to come back in.

My UD is going okay. I'm not really hungry. I got some protein in and its so filling. I'm at 600 cals right now and know I have a lot more to go to reach my limit.

MMM mexican sounds really really good Shelly. Enjoy it and take a bite for me. lol

I've had pork loin and homemade coleslaw so far today. Will probably eat it again til its gone. My house is full of carbs. My son and his best friend are coming home for 2 weeks on college break so I felt I had to stock up on quick foods to try to feed two 20 year olds, a 13 and a 12 year old over school break. So i've got all kinds of stuff in there I shouldnt eat.

At the Mexican place I go to the enchiladas are made with corn tortillas, so check, maybe they won't be such a problem. Other than the carbs that is!

Staying away from grains/gluten will often get rid of allergies to other foods like dairy and eggs. It is the gluten and the issues it causes in the gut that cause gut permeability which allows other food particles through into places they don't belong which triggers allergic responses to those foods. If you stop eating gluten/grains along with the other foods and then after say 30 days try those other foods again you might find that they are no longer an issue. And if they still are you know you cannot have them. Worth a try.

I am enjoying my UD.

BLT no mayo for lunch
Coffee with milk 2 Stollen bites
Red wine
Spaghetti with smoked salmon tomatoes, olives and cream

That should be the end of seeing the 126 number I saw this morning.

Didn't use the smoked salmon after all, used a few anchovies instead.

I have been eating junk food all day. Typical, since we are all agreeing how bad it is for our bodies lol. It has been raining all day, and I didn't want to go out, so that is my excuse. Bf finally did go out and bought steaks, so that is what I'm cooking for dinner. Thank goodness eod is a DD, and I can't eat junk!

Boy can I relate to how bad you feel on a carby UD. I made candy for Christmas gifts and ate a bunch of it after going to a breakfast and eating potatoes, monkey bread and apple cake. At 7 pm my stomach was huge and bloated and I could not even eat dinner. I am Soooo looking forward to my DD tomorrow. I was going to make cookies but might skip that till an up day.

Heaven help me, I just calculated my cals for the day--400 over. I think this qualifies as an up up and away day. I knew the, ahem, 4 servings of crustless pumpkin cheesecake was overdoing it a bit (even if I did substitute in some ricotta for the cream cheese).

I am totally on board with keeping it low carb--I know very well what will happen to all my NSV's if I start adding in any kind of grains/sugars etc. to my UP days. Bye-bye hunger tolerance, even mood, energy, etc. Not worth it to me. Of course I know I will be tempted, and may even slip. Trying to keep using the low-carb treat recipes to help...obviously I'm relying on them a bit too much.
