Blown it already today.

Feel like I've blown my whole planned day.

DD today supposedly, and logging everything. I've used up 300 of my 500 already and it's only 10:30 am.

Fiancé is off and cooked bacon while I was in the shower!!!!! I had 3 slices on top of my coffees earlier, with hwc and co. So then I log and BLAM! I'm at 300 already? Disappointed in myself and it's gonna be a long day. :/

You haven't BLOWN it. Reign it in, have a few extra if you need....move on. Let JUDDD happen, sometimes in the beginning, DD's need to be higher.

It's not "blown" till the day is over - have faith! Check on the JUDDD calculator how high in calories you can go and still even maintain - it's a different way of looking at it - but even at 40% you would NOT have blown it - just stayed even.

And given you are just starting with UD/DD - posting for help is great!! Hang in there, you can do it!

If it helps, go back to the calculator and look at all the different sets of calories from 20% up to 35%. Even if you go all the way up to the 35% number, that's STILL weight loss mode. And if you go higher still, it's NOT a blown DD. You're learning, and every bit of information helps in the long run. So now you know bacon probably isn't the best thing for you on a DD. Maybe you can find a substitute. Turkey bacon? I love Jones' Farm ham slices. 2 of those are only 50 calories, and satisfy me better than a couple of slices of bacon.

not even remotely close to blowing it! live and learn and move on try to reign it in for the rest of the day. buillion in hot water is great and only 5 calories!

when i first started this woe, i was literally in shock at how many calories was in the food i was eating - in huge quantities - on a daily basis. it's an education, that's for sure! keep at it, girl!

You're okay Susan! Don't give up on the DD yet. Just have a higher one. You've gotten some great advice already. Besides, what you've had is LC (I know that's important to you) has good protein in the bacon, which I believe you can eat a bit more calories if they come from protein.

So glad you vented about this. We've all done it, survived it, and here is where the support of this place is so valuable. You've got this, and we've got you!

You haven't blown it. Like the others said, even if you go over 500 calories, it can still be good and decent DD. Drink fluids and do your best to save the rest of those calories until later.

I think I was still panicking on my first few DD's that I was even thinking of going any stretch of time without food. It takes a bit to get used to but it helped me to just try to do the best I could.

What's done is done, so there's no need to worry about the past. JUDDD's induction phase has plenty of wiggle room in the learning curve for newbies.

There are some who do not count coconut oil in their coffee in the AM. Dr. Mosley of the 5:2 diet has said if you can't eat really low calories, make sure the calories you do eat are protein.

See - you haven't blown anything!

I have done 800-900 calorie DDs and still lost. You have plenty of room to keep this a good DD.

Yep, just call it a higher DD and move on. It's still a lot less than you'd have had if you weren't Juddding, afterall. Plus, you're just starting so just focusing on getting in to a DD/UD pattern is half the battle. If all else fails, don't beat yourself up, just move along to the next day. It's ONLY one day...not going to derail you in the long run. YOU CAN DO IT!

Life happens. Bacon happens.

The important thing is: decide what you are going to do the next time it happens (and, it will happen again, many SOs have a difficult time making the transition to EOD eating - I had to post 'Today is DD' and 'Today is UD' cards in the kitchen until DH joined me in the rotations).

What to do when the house is filled with the deeelish smell of something you love and do not plan to eat today?

You can wrap it up and say, "Thank you. This will be wonderful on my salad tomorrow." You can eat it then return to your planned DD eating - higher DDs once in awhile should not have any impact on the big losing picture. You can eat a small amount (a bite, a slice) then return to planned DD eating.

The important thing is, plan to be tempted and never say, "Well, the day is blown, may as well eat the pantry."

JUDDD forgives.

There's no such thing as a JUDDD emergency.

Either you can salvage the rest of the day and keep the cals as low as possible for a high DD.
Or, you can turn it into a healthy UD, do a DD tomorrow, then calmly carry on EOD.


If only the rest of Life were that simple!

Y'all are all wonderful and thanks so much for being here for me yday! I learned a lot with the bacon incident.

I learned.. My fiancé needs to know what day it is for me, UD or DD. he already knows my LC habits, but I haven't included him in my JUDDD changes yet, so he needs to know obviously. So I explained a little to him last night and I filled out the calendar on the fridge so he can use it as reference.

I learned that yep. I ate too much bacon and I was full til I had oysters on the shell last night. Still came in with under 700 cals and I'm OK.. It's still a lot less cals than I would have normally been eating on any given LC day and even more enlightening is that it's 100s times better than what I was consuming 4 months ago (think Pringles, burritos, 44oz dr peppers, snickers bar.. Ya my life was disgusting like that.)

I will keep going no matter what! Y'all are the best support group ever! Thank you!

Oh man, me too. My good friend dropped by with an entire ice chest full. I sat down on the patio at my bar on the ground with it and shucked them as fast as I could. Lol. I know right? I'm pretty happy with JUDDD so far, I really think this is going to become a way of life for me. Which is mind blowing since previously I've had the attn span of a gnat when it came to sticking thru things.
