Is it safe to do a 40 hour fast?

I usually finish my last UD calories at around 18:00-19:00, and I don't eat on DD so I break the fast at 5:00-6:00 in the morning so that's a 36 hour fast.
My question is: I finished eating my UD calories at 13:00-14:00 today. If I fast the whole day tomorrow and then break it at 6:00 the next morning, will a 40 hour fast stress my metabolism too much and slow it down?? Thanks! X

40 hours should be fine. I do it frequently. I may have 150-200 on DD, but often don't eat till dinner on UD.

Shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you drink plenty of water.

The longest fast you'll want to do is so that you stop before the SIRT1 turns off. 40 hours should be fine - perhaps someone has better stats.

My only question might be, why not allow yourself a meal this evening? You may have had your UD cals for the day, but just as I might recommend 2 UD in a row, one UD when ou eat more than your allotted calories isn't going to hurt. You can have a nice salad or something filling for very few calories.

I would just eat dinner and carry on as usual.

I think Vicky is right. Especially if you do total fasts on DDs. You can and probably should allow a little more calories on UDs. I wouldn't worry too much about the amount of time between ending a UD and beginning the next one, if you are fully fueled.
