December - No weighing for the month!

Here I am! Not going to weigh for "most" of the month, I go to the dr on Dec. 6, so will weigh then, but then not again until New years Day!

How are you doing?

LoCarbGal 12-01-2013 11:48 AM

I'm with you Leona! I enjoyed No-Weigh November so much and I love the peace of not seeing the results of my Thanksgiving/Birthday blowout.

I'll weigh in either December 22 or 24, after a DD. We cook/eat Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and then have leftovers for Christmas Day, so that gives me basically 3 weeks. I hope by then I can undo the end of November damage. I'm not shooting for any losses in December, although I would more than welcome them if they happen! Maintaining will be perfectly fine with me, getting back to losses in January.

Fluffy_Bunny 12-01-2013 01:31 PM

I'll bite! I haven't been tracking my weight and plan to go all the way until new years eve before I hop on the scale (no big Christmas eating planned this year). So onward and downward it is!

Sirtain 12-01-2013 06:37 PM

I salute you all! I am still going to be weighing, but I read the November No-Weigh thread with great interest, and I expect the same for this one.

Thank You!

We will try to be good and get rid of some #### too!

How about no posting weight for the month of December. :D That I can do! ;)

I could do that as well. I need the scale to keep me motivated. Its way too easy for me to let stuff slide if I didn't check in for an entire month. I admire those of you who can use some other form of motivation to keep your losses going.

jdforshort 12-02-2013 12:02 AM

Hooray, for the non weighers!:clap:You guys have more control than I do.:hugs:

mafiamom 12-02-2013 09:08 AM

you guys are so brave and strong!

i think you should call it "DON'T DO IT, December" ;)

cactusrose63 12-02-2013 10:12 AM

Cute, mafiamom!!

I am in also…no weighing for me. Finally feeling better and even maybe enough energy to get back to a bit of exercise today. Wasn't JUDDDing for about the past week due to URI/a touch of bronchitis. Now feeling the energy to get back on track with ADF and planning meals.

Like Carol said, will be happy even if I maintain for the next month but still hoping to fit into those pants by Christmas. I do think that is do-able.

LiLi914 12-02-2013 04:24 PM

You are all awesome! I can't wait until no weigh January. I might not weigh for the next two weeks, but I don't know if I have the willpower.

Joyjoy 12-02-2013 05:07 PM

Barb, I've been reading about your pants. Good on you!
I've only been back a week and haven't yet dragged my scale out from under the bed. I may do your pants method instead. It'd be a drag to be feeling great after a week (which I am) only to leap on the scale and be discouraged.
Thanks for the idea.:)

Joyjoy 12-02-2013 05:17 PM

Inspiring, Carol. (And you can spend seven months losing or seven months gaining - see my own example. You, honey, have at least been going in the right direction.)

LoCarbGal 12-02-2013 10:15 PM

Thanks Kristin. That is a really good reality check for me, and I need it!

You guys might just be amazed at how easy no-weigh is once you accept the idea and just dive in. I am loving it. I feel like I'm more in tune with what my body is doing since I'm not depending on the scale to tell me (like it doesn't lie like a dog anyway!). I was very skeptical before starting it too, but it's great!

Hi there and great to see you!! That is exactly why I am doing this. Felt great and weighed myself about two months ago and saw no loss and then there you go…ended up eating myself up another few pounds probably since jeans got too snug. Sigh. Then rebooted my outlook toward this whole thing and now here I am. Look forward to seeing you here!

Joyjoy 12-04-2013 03:31 PM

Well, not much to report, is there, when you're just trying on your pants once in a while.:hyst:
I like the longer view. Great idea, you guys.

haha! i guess this thread might be a little slow ;)

i am soooo doing this for the month of january.

cactusrose63 12-05-2013 09:13 AM

Okay well then I will add my two cents to keep the thread a-rollin'. Feeling so much better being back on rotations. My energy level is up and I am feeling thinner/smaller and more comfortable in my skin.

leonak 12-05-2013 01:58 PM

I will step on the scale tomorrow morning as I am going for my yearly physical and want to see how "off" my scale really is :dunno: i know I have gained from a year ago:cry:

Guess this is a slow thread but we will keep it alive, ok??

Here in WI we got lots of snow yesterday, first a bit of snow, then rain and more snow about 10" total; our trees are just hanging with heavy, wet snow. Feel for all the wild live as I'm sure many will not be able to make it this winter.

I will post tomorrow late afternoon and tell what my true doctors weight is:stars:

LoCarbGal 12-05-2013 04:36 PM

I'm still here! I'm feeling great not weighing again. I don't know if it's possible to lose this month, but I'm keeping a good thought for it. Still, with all the goodies, get-togethers, etc during December, I will TRULY be happy if I just maintain.

SlowSure 12-11-2013 06:13 AM

Different strategies, different reasons

I'm fascinated by what works for different people at various stages in their journey towards shedding their 'not needed on voyage' body fat.

I typically weigh on Saturday morning because that's when DH records our weights for our records.

I've decided to be vigilant over this holiday season because it's my first one at my target weight (I'll leave the weight/size/body fat issue aside for now :) ). I'll be less active than normal so that, combined with more social engagements, has prompted me to take up daily weighing for the next 3-4 weeks.

In many ways, relying on a scale is antithetical to what I believe but it's the easiest blunt method to track my response to different food and activity patterns (as long as I recognise its limitations).

You introduce such useful ideas for people to try out. I'm sure this works well in WLM and during a maintenance break for people at various stages.

Maintaining would be excellent :)

It's been very useful to read this thread. I've changed my weigh-ins to the inverse of this in some waysbecause it's appropriate for me, right now. Not only is it Holiday Season but it's approx. 6 months after I hit my target and bits of research indicate that it's at 6mos that people can start to gain again because the appetite increases or [fill in favourite reason]. I feel the need for some additional way points to get me through my danger zone :)

Much admiration to those of you who are at the point where you can abstain for a month at a time.

mafiamom 12-11-2013 06:59 AM

honestly, if the majority can make it thru this thanksgiving/christmas/new year madness with a maintenance number, i totally consider that a WIN! my goal is to bounce no further than 129.9 thru this time and be looking at - at the VERY LEAST 129.9 by 1/2/14!

LoCarbGal 12-18-2013 09:45 AM

I'm still doing no-weigh December. I was quite tempted a couple of times to jump on the monster, but I haven't, and still plan to weigh-in on 12/22 after DD.

I'm getting a little nervous. I don't feel like I've gained, and have been sticking to my planned calories and getting some good exercise in. It's just been such a busy time that I haven't been as laser-focused as usual. Please please please let that number be 175 or less! :aprayer:

laceylady 12-18-2013 12:25 PM

So far, I've done OK -- weighed the other day and it WAS still the lowest I've gone during this round of JUDDD. I don't see it continuing, but that's OK. I know I'm doing the best I can for this time of year. If I make snacks, I generally don't eat any, but if I start nibbling, then I'm shot-down. Today? Not so good. And tomorrow is DH's birthday so we're going out for dinner, then out of town for 3 days... then a 2-day break back at home before Christmas... so we'll see how the rest of the year goes. I know I can do better and WILL do fine, and once I get all of the treats out of the fridge/freezer/cupboard/DESK, I'll be fine. Good luck, JBs, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Only another year until we get to go through all of this again!! :)

cactusrose63 12-21-2013 09:36 AM

Have been MIA for awhile, medical and now moving issues with my mom. Miss you all. Not weighing but really no time for food planning either. Crossing fingers but feel a bit puffy so not sure how the pants will fit, have not had the energy or mental strength to try them on. Sigh. But this too shall pass.

LoCarbGal 12-21-2013 09:46 AM

I'm sorry you are going through this, Barb. I hope your mom is okay. Hang in there! :hugs:

I'm weighing tomorrow after today's DD, which I hope I can make a good, low one. I need to remember to measure too. That may be the number I like best. :aprayer:

cactusrose63 12-21-2013 08:42 PM

Thanks Carol for the hug! Hoping for positive ######s for you all around! I was checking out your weight loss ticker and I just want to say your progress is phenomenal!!

Yes, it's so hard to hang on to this but it's true.

Best wishes that life's difficulties resolve with equanimity for you and that your energy returns.

cactusrose63 12-22-2013 08:00 AM

Thanks Slowsure!

LoCarbGal 12-22-2013 08:40 AM

Thanks Barb!

I'll be weighing in in a little while.......
