Okay, well the results are in. I'm not thrilled, but I'm also not too upset. Here's why:

End of Nov weight: 175
End of Dec weght: 177

Gained 2 pounds - not bad for all the treats I've been allowing myself

Inches lost during December: -1/4

Nothing to write home about. I've gained an inch in my chest at armpit level. I don't understand this, as I haven't been doing any significant upper body training. I've lost another 3/4" in my waist, so I can't be unhappy about that. And a few other tiny ups and downs in other areas.

I "feel" tighter and smaller. Obviously I am not, so maybe my body image is adjusting to reality finally.

I also have no idea where I am in my cycle, as TOM is no longer at all predictable. So that may be a factor as well.

I'm going to enjoy my Free Days at Christmas and again at New Years. I'll not weigh in again until sometime mid to late January. And I know I'll start seeing losses again, because I won't be indulging in all the sweet treats of the season. But I do love them so and really enjoy being able to have them again.

Onward!

Onward is right!

I've been loosely following this thread to see how y'all are all doing with not weighing, and I'm impressed with the ability to kick the scales to the curb.

Carol... I don't have a lot to offer you in the way of answers but I do have a great big fat hug for ya. And a ton of admiration for maintaining so well given the season and treats. You've been such an amazing support for me in the three weeks I've been doing JUDDD and I just wanted to let ya know I'm really proud of ya for your constant determination, clarity, good informative answers, and occasional gentle kick in the tail ya give me. Thanks.

Keep it up Amiga! January is gonna be both our month!

Likewise, much admiration is coming your way for your restraint.

If you're peri-menopausal, and this has come at the 'wrong' time for you, yes, it may well be concealing losses, particularly if you're feeling tighter/smaller and your waist is 3/4inch down. That sort of waist loss indicates that you're possibly shedding visceral fat (the very best sort of fat to lose) - and that is (rule of thumb) a good 1.75-2lbs just there.

So, 3/4inch loss in the waist is definitely something to celebrate.

Thanks Slow! That perspective is very helpful. I'm extremely thankful for the loss in waist circumference, for sure. I always so value your input. I'm so glad you're back, my friend!

You guys just make me feel great! Thank you for your encouragement. I just decided there was no point being upset with a lack of "progress" this month. I am NOT going to let numbers wreck my enjoyment of this lovely holiday.

Carol: Congrats on maintaining through all the holiday treats and temptations! You are doing great!

I have some personal testimony to offer on the bigger chest/smaller waist situation.

Here is what happened to me when I was just about your age. I had been thin and a B cup in the chest for many years. When TOM got irregular and I was obviously in peri-menopause, my chest started to grow! My waist started to shrink! (I quickly was in DD cup).

I remember getting together for dinner with some close friends who had moved away several months before. Stella asked me when we were in the restaurant's bathroom: "Did you get breast implants??" NO! I yelled and pulled my shirt up. These are mine but I don't know what's happening to me!

While at my doctor's for a check up, I asked her about the boob situation and said, "what's up with this?" She told me for some women it's just part of the change of life and that it happened to her as well. She was a bit older than me. That is what I loved about her! A woman, my doctor, going through what I was going through!

No matter how much weight I lose now, the cup size stays big. DH loves it. I do not.

Measure just underneath your boobalas to get a true idea of fat loss. When you lose underarm fat and back fat it will show up there.

Don't know if that helped or not! It's just my story. Everyone's different.

Thanks thanks thanks you guys! I love getting all of your perspectives. And yes, Yam-Yam, your story helps a lot. That sounds like what is happening! I'm a DD cup, and the "girls" haven't gotten much smaller through this whole journey. I don't mind, and was really hoping they wouldn't shrivel up on me! And you're right, my ribcage has gotten smaller along with my waist. I'll take it!

So I have not official checked in since a death in my family a couple months ago. I did weigh in on November 15th when I got back home and was 194.6lbs. Believe me when I tell you I was ecstatic to know that I hadn't gained anything at all during my almost one month departure from JUDDD and exercise.

I took my weight this morning and I'm now sitting at 184.8lbs. I am VERY Happy about this almost 10 pound loss in the past 6+ weeks through all these holidays and especially because I haven't done any exercise recently due to the flu. My end of year goal was 180. I didn't quite make it, but am still very pleased and very grateful for my progress.

My JUDDD stats so far....

Start date: July 9, 2013
Weight loss: 35.2lbs
Fat loss: 39.2lbs
Muscle gain: 4lbs

I started in a tight size 14 and am now in a tight 10...aiming for a comfortable 8.

I still have approximately 29 pounds of fat to burn and 4 pounds of muscles to build to hit my goal and really reshape my body which I hope to do by my one year JUDDDiverssary in July. Once I get to 180 which will be in the next few weeks I'm going to up the calories slightly and increase weight training to lose the last 20 pounds slowly as I mentioned here.

So to wrap up....I love JUDDD, I adore and appreciate my JB's and all the wonderful support we give and receive here and I look forward to all of us reaching an maintaining our goals in 2014.

Happy New Year, and all the best to you and yours!

Utterly delighted to read of your excellent progress.

The 'closing in on your last 20lbs' plan reads very well and is admirably level-headed.

Couldn't agree more with your final paragraph.

Awesome month, Carol!!
I'd start a "no weighing ever or not until I feel ready for maintenance" thread, but I'd be the only one there.
At this point, I'm really happy rotating, doing low DDs, more reasonable UDs,and moving in the right direction with my clothes as indicators. If I stepped on a scale and saw something unpleasant at this point, I'd fall off the wagon (whacked history). I trust that at some point I'll feel like pulling it out from under the bed in the back room.
All the power to those of you who are relatively unaffected by the numbers. I look forward to them being less loaded some day.

Thanks Kristin! I'm really loving not weighing, but I do want to re-focus for the new year, so I guess it'll be back to weighing regularly for me in February. Ho-hum.

Fluff, you've done wonderfully! I'm so proud of your progress, and you're getting sooooo tantalizingly close to goal! No doubt you'll get there very soon!

I, too, decided early in the month I wouldn't worry about the scales as there's always next month and too many things going on...so tried to watch it, but didn't worry about it. After all, losing weight at this time of the year is going against Mother Nature. She wants us to gain poundage to get through the long, hard winter. I'd thought I would allow up to a four-pound gain as I know a couple of good DD's will get me back on track...to my surprise, this morning I was only a half pound above my starting weight...so am enjoying your relaxed attitude and know we'll get back on track in the New Year.

It's funny how we focus on the current situation to measure our overall progress - 2lb gain vs. 144lb overall loss, , as everyone else has already said absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!!

Love that Oceania.

Brilliant to see you down 10 pound without weighing in Fluffy. We do miss your posts and your lovely avatar.
