Ha ha ha! Melting the eyeliner with the lighter!! I remember thinking I was so cool when I was finally old enough to do that.
My hair, on any given day, looks like something that could adorn Medusa's head so it fit in great in the 80's. Later decades, not so much. Until I learned to embrace the frizz.
On a separate note, I bought myself a new scale off Amazon so will have to calibrate it to my old scale to stay consistent. This one tracks composition as well. I know its probably not the most accurate thing on the planet but we'd be looking for trends especially since I'm doing way more weight lifting these days (and can totally tell. Tickets to the gun show, anyone? ) I really want to do the hydrostatic testing again as we're about 6 months out from the last time but he's not going to be in my area again any time soon and I don't want to drive 2 hours. Hoping he makes it back further north in the new year.

You make me feel old! I remember when Nirvana first came out and it was BAD!!! If you listened to Nirvana you were a REBEL!! Those were the kids your parents didn't want you to hang out with. I know what you mean. They play 80s rock at my grocery store sometimes, and that seems wrong. Growing up it was "music for that catatonic" as far as I was concerned. I do have to say though, I haven't heard any Ozzy or AC/DC at the store yet. Maybe in a couple of years....

I never really liked 80s music. All that heavy metal gave me a headache. There were some singers that I liked but mostly I just avoided the radio the whole time I was in Jr. High in the late 80s LOL

I missed the 80 era since I'm an 80's baby. The early 90's for me did consist of what all my friend's refer to as the DJ Tanner era. All I wanted was to dress like the girls from Full House. 80's mixed in with the new 90's. Lord the photos that I'm hopeful were lost in the move.

I'm currently sitting outside of a friends house waiting to drive her to the airport. She's always running late. It's flipping cold and all I want to do is lay in my bed. Early morning airport runs must give you about 100 points on the karma scale.

I was a 40s baby Lisa, you are making me feel very old. I did wear all the totally inappropriate clothes of the 80s though. And, what it is more, I continue to grow old disgracefully.

Was supposed to go to the gym this morning but had a 'can't be bothered' moment. Shall run a few errands instead.

Kissa, I tend to think of you as JUDDD's Bond Girl - a younger Honor Blackman because your photographs so strongly resemble her (with a nice touch of Diana Rigg).

That and your gym sessions and being a general fount of energy, joie de vivre and enjoyment.

You're definitely contributing to a redefinition of the 60s as the new 40s.

It was LGA. I hate JFK so I always try to get out of taking people there. Between the traffic, tolls, and gas I've already spent about $45 this morning.

Hahaha. I didn't look very classy in the 80s.
I shudder to remember the huge shoulder pads but I loved my big (-ish!) hair and the ski pants were so easy to wear with boots.

I always used to take the shoulder pads out. I still come across stashes of cut out shoulder pads at the back of cupboards once in a while.

That was me! I guess one part of me that I've always been somewhat happy with was my square shoulders, so I never wanted the extra padding. Did I mention I was fashion oblivious? And still am to some degree.

My wife has always cut the shoulder pads out. She says that she doesn't want to look like a linebacker. Of course, neither one of us has the first clue about style. It's all about comfort.

I have a small upper body compared to my lower half, so I benefited from the shoulder pads (although I wouldn't wear them today lol). Those 80s shoulder pads were like linebackers!

Just back from the cinema where there was a live broadcast of The Nutcracker from the Royal Opera House (broadcast to 29 countries, as they repeatedly told us).

Virtually a full house. Lots of people in the audience for whom this was their first ballet experience - and many little girls with their eyes open in wonderment who pirouetted across the front of the screen on their way out.

Super atmosphere. Lovely Christmassy thing to have done. I'm so pleased that I went.

The Peter Wright choreography was revived from the 80s (so there is a tenuous connection to the latest discussion ) and there was current footage of him rehearsing this production with various casts. (He's in his late 80s now and his birthday fell on one day he was working there so the casts stopped their schedule to gather together and sing Happy Birthday to him. Charming moment and he was very moved.)

Off to bed with visions of the Sugar Plum Fairy dancing through my head.
