Our Christmas tree theme every year tends to be "stuff that doesn't break". This is due to our cats.

Oh that's a cute idea Dawn!!

My niece & nephew share a line and text me from their ipads. It's mostly my niece who texts me. Today, I get a text from her saying that her brother was being mean to her. Then I get a text from my sister saying my nephew was crying because my niece was telling me that he was bad. I made the mistake a few days ago of telling her that if she and her brother are good, they get good christmas presents from me (their "elf on the shelf" is "telling me if they are or aren't before reporting to Santa" - aka my sister keeps me informed of their shenanigans!). So, my lovely niece is trying to make herself look good by saying she was nicely trying to show her brother a youtube video when he got mad at her. Uh huh, nice try kid!

Hi Carly! I hope things are getting better at work. Maybe you'll get a chance to de-stress this weekend. Was that DW I saw in Lisa's pictures on FB? Looked like they were having fun!

Katie, that's cute that you're keeping your nephew and niece in line. Sort of.

It's rainy here today, but still warm. I just took the dogs for a walk while the rain was tapering down for a bit...met a new neighbor and her dogs, which rendered any friendly chat from happening. My dogs and her dogs were madly pulling on their leashes and growling. I had to walk on before her pit bull pulled her arm out of joint. Seemed like a nice lady.

Hope everyone is having a good day so far.

Last night was a very good time. I ate far too many appetizers though. So I'm keeping it light today.

Sitting here at my internship and my first client is either late or a no show. That kind of blows since I have to skip a great class at the gym now that I'm working Saturday mornings.

Cindy, you did see Carly and her DW in those photos. It was a rainy, cold evening but a good time had by all.

I got up early for this community garage sale, and hardly anyone else is selling anything. I've made about $5 so far, someone tried to steal something, and a cat wondered in and looked around. He may be my best customer....

Our neighborhood yard sales are like that now. they used to be HUGE, now hardly anyone buys anything. i guess times are too hard to buy other peoples junk... bummer cause i have lots of junk to sell!

We made over 200.00 last Sunday at the flea market. Maybe 300.00. Bf was steadily spending it, lol, so it was hard to count up! I wouldn't want to do a yard sale though, because you couldn't leave.

As someone who likes to go to yard sales, I have found the community yard sales diminish over time. It's like all the good stuff sells and then people just keep putting the crap that didn't sell the year before out each year.

Yep, I'm a big yard sale fan too, but these past couple of summers have really seen slim pickings. I hate it when I go to a table and see Ebay listings printed out next to items for sale, to justify a high price, because if I wanted to pay that price I'd just buy on Ebay lol. But anyway between Ebay and Craigs List, it seems very little good stuff gets sold at yard sales anymore.

Too cold here for yard sales. Our typically wind down in late October and don't start up again until late April

We did a yard sale last July. We had been putting it off for a while so had a ton of stuff, including a bunch of unused presents from our wedding (it will be 25 years next March so they were antiques! lol). We weren't trying to make money off the stuff, just trying to get rid of it so most of the stuff was in the 25 cents to $2 range. I was really surprised at what sold and what didn't. We had some really nice stuff super cheap that people would look at all the time but no one bought it.

Then, we had a couple of scratched up teflon frying pans that my wife just wanted to throw away. I told her to put a quarter on each of them and see what happens. They were some of the first things sold. Go figure.

No yard sales here now either. It was 7° F this morning.

Yes- last night was really a lot of fun! It was pouring when we left, but we had a nice "non holiday" get together.

If I'm up for it later I'll post some of the pictures I took, but I'm not a big FB person or poster.

My garage sale was a total bust. Five hours and $28. $20 of which was my next door neighbor. I don't know if he took pity on me, or really wanted that steam floor cleaner!

I had 4 jackets/coats that were 4X and 3X that are really nice and I was just sure someone would snatch them up. Several really heavy ladies came and barely looked at them. Oh well, on to Craigslist they go.

Thanks for letting me know about the FB online garage sales, guys. I have requested to join my local group, and hopefully between that and Craigslist I'll get rid of these items.

YW, LCG, and I hope it works out well for you. Sorry that you went to the effort (and getting up early!) for the little amount you made. Here they have started requiring a business license if a person has more than one yard sale a year. I don't know if that's typical or not. About a year ago, bf and I were at a garage sale and a news woman was there and interviewed bf lol. It was about the law...

My HOA (don't even get me started) doesn't allow garage sales unless they are community ones they organize. I think our city allows 2 a year or something like that. It's too bad a few people who handle it badly cause so much restriction.

Several years ago my mom had a guy living on her street who advertised that he was collecting used items and any cash donations for a sick child they supposedly knew or were related to. Then we started noticing that he had yard sales every weekend. The dirtbag was begging for free stuff and then selling it!

Hi from Ohio this Holiday season. We have 7 in. of snow and more coming tomorrow. It was in the teens last night. Hope all are having a great Christmas season. Trying to get brave and put up a tree with a new kitten and 2 cats this year. Maybe I will wait a little longer. I have snuck out a few things when the kitten is a sleep.

I have not done any shopping yet. Nor have I done any bakeing because if I did I would have ate it all by now. I always wait to the last week unless I have to take it some where.

All these eggnog drinks sound good and I don.t even drink it! May have to try some.

Hope all are well, warm, and safe. Merry Christmas to all. Love Judy

Quickly checking in, life is crazy lately and when I'm online, it's to do Christmas shopping! I am so behind with everything, too. We finally bought our tree, but it's sitting outside still. No surprise, given our days lately. Yesterday was a morning BBall game (J's last one for the season already, flew by!), then ran home for DH to help the neighbor get his snowblower ready for the season (they're older and count on DH for help) while I made dinner quickly for the kids, then ran out to get the tree for us and one for my folks, then back just in time to run C out to the high school so they could get ready for their last parade (marching band). Ran home again to put on 10 layers of clothing so we could go to the parade to watch C march (brrrrr!!!), then home so DH & K could run my folks' tree over to them while I ran C back up to the school for his "lock in" celebration. (they spend the night at the high school after their last marching band performance each year) Noone had any energy to bother putting our tree up last night after all that, so I crashed by the tv and watched some college football.

ANYHOO, gotta get the tree up today, but haven't baked yet, still have more shopping to do, etc, etc. OH WELL! The holidays have snuck up on me this year!

I think im fighting off some sort of virus. Woke up in the middle of the night sneezing my head off, then fell back asleep; woke up at 9 am (thats late to sleep in for me!) and fell back asleep to finally wake up at 130!!! Thank god for dbf, hes helping me by doing the laundry. I made an onion soup packet so im eating that for my Down day today. Im not really hungry but i needed to put something in my stomach so i can take an aleve. Kinda glad i didnt have much going on today - its flurrying here and im laying on the couch watching the snow fall

I know I am British, and somewhat old fashioned, but a 'late' tree is sort of lovely. It is a tree for Christmas after all and Christmas is still some way off. So relax Melissa you are doing fine.

We always used to put the tree up immediately before Christmas — Christmas Eve or maybe a day or two earlier. We haven’t had one for a few years because we usually stay with my parents for a couple of weeks. We order a tree online for them — but no earlier than a week before Christmas.
