So I'm looking through old photos and I went through the ones from our cruise last year. It's such a great way to get perspective. Even when the scale sucks I can look at myself and see the progress. Great incentive in 2014.

Lisa - what a difference. I hope that you're as proud of yourself as you're justified in being.

Current storm means we're on flood warning - stupidly, although we have flood defences, the Council didn't maintain them because of the cost, and they're now so full of debris after the storm of a few days ago that they're useless.

The local rivers are testing their banks. The wind is high. It's fingers crossed that we all keep our roofs intact and I hope that no nearby trees had their roots loosened.

It'll be OK but this feels like a literal dampener on the holidays.

Lili, that's great. Yay for photos! It is so easy to NOT see change when we look in the mirror. I guess we get used to the many little differences. Pictures let us compare and see how much we have changed. You're looking good!

Lisa you look amazing!! What a wonderful thing to see the changed in pictures. It is always shocking for me to see where I was so many years ago. It doesn't even feel like it was me any more. Congratulations!!!

JUDDD will get the rest off for us for sure!!!

I weighed this morning after a pretty good DD yesterday. 2lbs up is all. Its not near as bad as I thought it would be, especially since I haven't gone to the 'bathroom'!!!!
Im ready for a good UD today and so ready to get my elliptical tomorrow!!!

LISA!!! you look fantabulous sweetie!!!! What a great comparison from last year to this year, love it! Color me completely jealous that you have Juddd going for you at 29yo, btw. What a wonderful, wonderful thing this will be for the rest of your life. You have so much to look forward to!

Loving all the new pics over here! Love the restarting January with a vengeance cohesion going on as well. YAY! I will definitely be doing the same!

Stay tough, girls with bad holiday weather! we had a terrible ice storm before Christmas here, too. Very blessed we kept our power, as all around us folks are just finally getting theirs back, or still out.

Just to say that the storm front should finish in about 20mins. We're OK - some fence panels down and some of the neighbours need help because their greenhouses and sheds are damaged but it's negligible in the overall scheme of things.

I'm headache-y because we cleared some debris from the storm run-offs in the street and bending my head down for that long tends to result in a headache - but, sooner that than deal with flooding. And we're fortunate in that we've mostly kept our power today (unlike other areas).

I hope that other UK people are OK as other areas have it far worse than we do.

Lisa! You look fantastic! You look like a completely different person except for that beautiful smile. You should be so proud. I am for you!

Slow, gosh, I hope everything will stay safe and dry for you, with no damage. What an awful spell of weather!

Adi, Kyle and Sami/Squeaker pics are great. What a goodlooking son you have there, and those doggies are awful cute!

Today was supposed to be my first DD since Sunday before Christmas, and I realized pretty early this morning that I'm just not into it and probably won't worry too much until 1/1/14. My tummy and body aren't too thrilled with the carb intake, and I know I'll feel better once I'm off this level of them again, but we still have some planned meals that will be carby and desserty coming up, so I am just going to try to enjoy within reason, and really hit it back again for January. Whatever comes on will come off in good time. Not stressing about it, which I love!

Fingers crossed. I've not got a clear idea of the long range forecast into next week but if this continues, I'll need to reconcile myself to losing my Spring garden as all the bulbs will have rotted with the continued sodden medium.

Do bear in mind that because you're eating more carbohydrate than you typically do, in the short term:
insulin -> sodium retention -> water retention.
So, the sudden influx of a higher than usual amount of dietary carbohydrates may increase your insulin release and promote sodium and fluid retention until you stabilise. Just be prepared for that and ignore it because it will pass very quickly once your back into your rotations.

Adi,

Great pictures on the blog. Do you still have the kitten you rescued? She is so cute. Love the goat pictures, too. We use goats to keep brush down on some property we own. They are such fun to watch as they play around.

Very handsome son, too!

Thank you and yes, Darlene is still here and is working hard at learning how to be a barn cat. The former barn cat has taken to going out and trying to teach Darlene her barn duties. Isn't having a lot of luck as Darlene still prefers playing with a feather to stalking a mouse. BUT she will learn. Maybe I need to cut her milk supply down so she gets hungry.

Cute! I'm sure she loves the milk. We had 3 cats in CA, but now live in a condo that is not conducive to cats. Our cats could come in whenever they wanted, but they also liked to be outside. The place where I go swimming has a cat, so I get to scratch her ears....

Lovely to see you, CaliChris.

I recently lamented the absence of your Garfield Happy Dance for Yennie's birthday (Tho' I must acknowledge that Library Girl posted a delightfully jolly tiger.)

I hope that you're well.
