Cindy, I'm so sorry about your friend. That must be so hard after reconnecting and feeling like she wasn't doing very well.

Carly and Jen, I'm sorry for your losses and ill friends too. This is such a hard time of year to have that going on. Not that it is ever not hard.

And Carly, feel better soon! And take good care of yourself - work stress can really do a number on us, can't it?

Lisa, I'll just say it again, you are the best friend in the world, sweet lady! Enjoy your time off, you so deserve it.

Slow, you lady-about-town you. You're having the best time! I wonder if you and Cindy had both been there if you would have recognized each other? Wouldn't that be fun?

Flossy, that sounds like a wonderful Christmas tradition. I used to just love to sing (only in private now) and that sounds so much fun.

Dawn, enjoy the cocktails. Oh, yeah, and the food and the party. My priorities ARE straight, what are you implying?

Shelly, of course you're welcome here and entitled to post! You're one of us!

I saw the following on the Alternate Day Diet author Krista Varady's FB page this morning...

"Can I break up the 500-600 calorie lunch into a 150-200 calorie breakfast, lunch and dinner...OR have the whole 500 calorie meal at dinner instead of lunch?"

Just to update anyone new to the page...We are currently running a study to see whether breaking up the lunch time meal on the fast day leads to better adherence to the diet, and greater weight loss. Although the study is still underway, at this stage, we are noticing higher dropout rates in the group consuming these "small meals" versus the group consuming the meal as a lunch. Most individuals find it difficult to only eat 150-200 calories for each meal, which leads them to cheat (eat extra calories at each meal) or quit the diet all together. So at this stage, I would recommend eating the 500 calories as one meal (generally around lunch time).

Alternatively, if dinner works better for you, please go ahead and consume the 500 calorie meal in the evening. Best of luck!"

I had a great DD yesterday by being busy all day and then just having a small chicken salad for dinner.

I have to say I would identify that with the smaller meals I do eat more. I do better on a DD with one meal of my calories - and the later the better. During the day, just liquids with 20 calories or less.

I do better at work eating little bits here and there. I think that is because im busy so if I feel some rumblings I can eat a few bites of gluc pudding and be ok. Today has been that way and it has been wonderful. DD's at home are tougher. I feel like I need to sit and eat with my husband so I will have a salad with just lots of lettuce and maybe a few small shrimp and walden farms dressing or a oat fiber muffin.

I hope you are right Kissa. The clothes really need to feel looser!!!

Good luck on that DD!!!

I know you will do fine. Mine has been great so far. I just have ot make sure to stay strong when I get home!!!!
I will check out the Amoryn. I'm hoping the cream helps. I have to give it a week or so and see how I feel.

I do best with around 200 calories at lunch time. If I'm in WLM and want a low DD, I'll skip breakfast, have 200 calories at lunch, and then anywhere from 25-200 calories for dinner.

In maintenance, I allow more calories and I find I really want breakfast. I'll have around 200 calories each meal X 3 and snack on top of that if I feel like it.

Making up for the last few months. Yes, it would

I've got paddle group tomorrow morning/afternoon and then off to the cinema again for a live broadcast of Falstaff.

Messiah is definitely the cherry on the Christmas icing of Nutcracker. It was a candlelight performance with the orchestra and soloists in period dress. It was hugely nostalgic to attend a performance after all this time and it means a lot to me to have been there.

I want to go to a play sometime soon. We have two places that do regular performances, and are supposedly very good.

I had a very strange encounter at Walmart today. A woman approached bf and me as we were standing at the entrance and asked us if we knew a pharmacy where she could get some kind of prescription drugs that she couldn't buy from Walmart's pharmacy. I said that I didn't know anything about that, and she called me a liar and said I looked "high". I guess the DD high was extremely evident! What in the Hdoublehockeysticks was that about?! Then a policeman came by about a minute later while we were still shaking our heads, and I told him a woman was harassing people as they were going and coming out of the store, and he said he had to go in there in a little while and he'd find her. Oh, I guess it's not a priority LOL!

Anyway, it was a good DD, but a strange one.

Bf said that she was an undercover cop, because the police were parked right behind us lol. We were waiting on a friend, and saw her harass another man who was coming out of the store. He was shaking his head in wonderment lol.

Totally Bizarre.

I was delighted to see a 126 number this morning. Okay 126.8, but still within a breath of my goal weight. Like most of us I like that to be more of my upper weight than my lower one, but it is proof that I am truly back on track.

Well, I'd say a few pounds up or down aren't going to make much difference in how you look. Even if you see it yourself, no one else will. If I were anywhere close to your weight, I feel like I would be satisfied. I know it's different after you get there, but trust me, it looks pretty darn good to the rest of us.

Not really Karen, but I do love JUDDD. I was asking a bit too much of it for a while there. I know better of course, I needed to remind myself of the 4 Rs. And of course it works.

We out and got our tree this morning. It's much warmer than it's been, thankfully, and the snow wasn't very deep, only about a foot or so.

Yesterday was a down day and I'll have to say that I probably should have eaten a little more this morning before hiking up (and down) the mountain in snow. I was fine then but got a bit shaky a little later on.

The tree is done.
I've done my good deed for DW, but my back is screaming.
It is pretty festive with the snowstorm going on outside (but I'd rather be on the beach )

Beautiful tree, Carly!

When we lived in CA we cut our tree at a tree farm. I loved the fresh smell. In HI we use an artificial one as a real one dries out too fast in the heat. I posted a picture last year, but can't seem to post one this year! I tried.....

Wish you could join me on my beach, Carly!

The pines and firs here are spindly at that size but you can get nice little spruces that hold the ornaments nicely and have decent trunks. They definitely don't look like farm trees but we kind of like that.

Nope, not my brother. That's my youngest son. He's only 16 but already a couple inches taller than me, though I think he's about 140 lbs soaking wet.

Here's my wife and son with the tree before we cut it (the one in front). We try to take them from areas where the trees are too close together. It sometimes gives them a flat spot but it helps the other trees grow.

Lovely tree Carly.

Wow, I am disappointed in your real eyes Frosty. But love the family/tree photos. No snow her in the UK yet, unseasonably mild around us.
