After 4 free days in a row at the end of November, my goal is to get back to the mid 140's by the end of the year. I'd also like to transition back to 5:2 at some point and see if I can maintain mid-140's with only 2 DDs per week.

My first DD yday and I feel like I did fairly well with it, I learned a few things, like I've gotta stay hydrated for sure, and in tracking it's details that count.

Most importantly is that I've got to keep my daily intake spaced out til the end of the day, or I am going to be really hungry at night, unless some appetite suppression comes with doing this.

Planning on a moderate day LC today with a calorie goal of about 1300. I realize I have to sorta fuel for tomorrow. So good nutrients all day today.

Susan, 1300 is way too low. Is there any way you can add some good fats or other low carb foods to increase that? I'm just afraid it'll backfire for you if you don't try to get closer to your UD goals.

ETA: Not sure if you're aiming for a Mid-day to change rotations, so I may be off-base here.

Hey thanks! The answer is... I dunno? The calculator I used told me to lose I needed to stay under 17 something in calories... So being a know it all like I am I picked 1300 out of thin air, so I'm glad you alerted me to this, you may have saved me from failing tomorrow on a DD.

By mid day rotation you mean what... The time of day that a new UD or DD starts? I've been assuming that each morning begins a new day? Or do some do longer times than 24 hours at a time?

Maybe I need a new calculator and a diff activity level like I've seen some post about here.

Susan, did you use the JUDDD calculator on his web site?

You put in your age, height, etc. be sure you use pounds and inches. We find that putting in no exercise as that option is best. No need to eat back calories. Then follows those guidelines. You want at least a 1000 calorie or more spread.

MD is halfway between DD calories and UP day calories. People use it if they have to change rotations. Not recommended at the start.

You can start at 500 calories for DD for 2 weeks.

Yes, please eat your full 1700+ calories on your UD. You'll feel better, and believe it or not, will most likely LOSE better, too! It's GREAT! You might want to verify that 1700 or whatever too, because I get more than that at goal and 41 years old. I think my UD number is something like 1750 (I am tall, though).

Yes, MD is used only to change rotations, and is 60% of your UD numbers. It's not recommended unless necessary, so I was wondering if your 1300 was being used to change rotations.

The days are just by the day, not any crazy hour combinations. Finish eating on your UD evening, eat your small amount of DD calories the next day, and then eat normally again on your next UD. Easy peasy, especially once you get the hang of the DDs and what keeps you satisfied.

Most of us use the 20% calculation on the calculator with little/no exercise. We tend to think the extra calories given for exercise are inflated. Some do well adding in their activity level, but most of us don't.

Thank you ladies, I will re assess the calories of both UD and DDs for my stats.

I did pretty ok with my UD today, I came in under 1750 but am still a little hungry and contemplating a few more wings before bed. I am glad I have some wiggle room today, for tomorrow's DD

Ok.. Found the right calculator and it's suggesting 1949/349, yikes on the 349. That might take some real tweaking for me to get to th t level, can I work down to it and be ok?
