Oh, this is good. I said already that after 6 weeks on JUDDD I can now keep trigger foods in the house: Peanut butter, Pillsbury Cinnamon buns, chocolate, ice cream, Muesli.....even the worst of all trigger foods: SEE'S CANDY!!!

And they aren't even calling to me! I asked my DH today, "Did you notice I don't tell you to hide the jar of nuts anymore when you bring them in the house?" He said, "Yeah, I noticed. I'm confused."

So that's my NSV - I've confused my husband.

Haha, nice!!!

I have a slightly different situation...I don't have many "trigger foods" (except for Cheetos & potato chips, lol), but I'd either not been buying certain foods I like, or I'd been hiding them in my room because my son was EATING EVERYTHING!!! I hated doing that, but it seemed to me that he was out of control. Eating 5 or 6 times a day, often eating 2 or 3 meals' worth of food at once, and snacking in between.

I was starting to get annoyed/feel resentful every time I heard him go into the kitchen or whenever he ate anything in front of me. I didn't want to eat with him anymore, either--like I had to set a good example by "showing" him that it wasn't necessary to eat so much. It was a terrible feeling.

I had a big talk with him a few weeks ago--tried to be very gentle and non-judgmental, but basically said that even if he doesn't want to lose weight, I can't afford to keep buying so much food! And that nobody can eat everything they want anytime they want in any quantity they want...you have to limit something. Carbs, eating windows (IF), calories, something--or exercise A LOT! I also told him that once your body gets in fat-storing mode, it "tells" you to eat more and more, and that some of the foods he's eating (he's vegetarian, subsists mostly on carbs) cause rebound hunger and make you want to eat more calories than you need. He has asked me a few times in the past for help with losing weight, has tried juicing, IF, and Shangri-La, and I'd already lost about 12lbs with this round of JUDDD, so he was very open. I asked him to write down what and how often he was eating (not amounts or calories, just a list) so he could become more aware of his eating habits.

He started JUDDD a week ago today and has lost 6.2lbs already.

The first day after his first DD his appetite changed dramatically. He was going longer between meals and eating so much less, without being hungry.

He's not being particularly strict with DDs. I've been making him a big stir-fry with veggies & tofu, and cabbage/zucchini "noodles" once or twice a week, and he eats however much he wants of that; then I think he's eating eggs & cottage cheese for snacks, and avoiding bread, tortillas, chips, etc. And I don't think he's even doing DDs EOD--a couple times when I asked "Are you doing a Down Day today?" he got a little grumpy with me. But he suddenly had a whoosh, and today he seems more enthusiastic. I'd been planning to buy eggplant parm for dinner, and he asked me not to!

Jenny, this is just an amazing explanation! I have never heard that term "rebound hunger" before, but I definitely have it when I eat carbs, especially in the form of processed or homemade sweets...I just want more and more.

JENNY - That's such great news! If he keeps seeing some losses, that success, no matter how small, may give him incentive to continue. Keep us posted.

Heather, that IS an NSV. Poor DH .

PJ, it's great that you could have that honest talk with your son. It sounds like maybe he was using eating as entertainment. I think I did that as a teen too, and it started very bad habits. My brother and I as teens would go through soooo much Coke and Dr. Pepper, my mom finally had to enforce a can per day limit. (That's about the time I started driving and would stop for Big Gulps or McDonald's drive through for huge sodas.) I sure hope your son keeps at it and reaps all the wonderful rewards JUDDD has to offer, like his mama!

I was a little bit wrong...he started last Wednesday (7/30).
So that's 6.2lbs in 9 or 10 days...I think that's still pretty impressive; it would be like 3 weeks' worth of weight loss for me!

He used to be somewhat slender; 6' and 180lbs. Then he got injured doing school sports and started gaining a bit. When he was about 220-225 he started trying to lose weight; he did a crash diet (that I did not recommend! but he said he'd just use it as a "jump-start" and then would keep eating healthier & exercising more... )...it got him down to 216 in a few days but then next thing you know, he was 235! He'd been pretty stable there for at least 7 months but one day after we had ordered a pizza he shot up to 240 and got a bit freaked out. He was down to 236.6 a couple days later, right before he started JUDDDing. Yesterday he seemed pretty excited to be down to 230.4.

That's just too cool. Tell him how much we ADMIRE him for that! (Men like that word. ) What's his name?

Hey, could you two get on the same DD/UD together? That would help with the meal preperation around the house.

This morning he was 229!

We're pretty much on the same schedule, I think. Meal prep is a little complicated because he's vegetarian and I'm not, plus I'm diabetic and he's not! But I often make things we can both eat with different sides of protein. Before he got on board with me, I was begging him not to make anything that smelled good (like nachos! ) on my "not eating" days!

piratejenny, that is so cool that your son is joining you in JUDDD!!!

So many great NSVs!!! I have a mini NSV, I purchased a skirt on sale in a size 14. I thought I wouldn't even try it on until another 10 pounds lost. I was getting ready for work today and eyeballed that skirt.

It zipped up and fit great! WHAT???? Losing weight and inches, too??? What a nice bonus!

Today I packed up my "fat jeans." I got out my "goal jeans." They don't fit....but at least I'm in the frame of mind that I can get there.
I have a pair of Levi's in two sizes. I've been wearing the 6, and today I tried on the 4. I think I could get away wearing them.

We went out for dinner last night, to celebrate our wedding anniversary (which was actually the day before, but that was a down day). I wore a pair of trousers that even at my lowest LC weight 10 years ago were always a bit tight, but they fit perfectly now. My husband wore a pair of cords that he’s had forever but hasn’t been able to wear for maybe 20 years.

I have one: I've just spent two weeks visiting my family (lots of reunions, lots of food) and although I didn't JUDDD, I hardly ever ate to a point of discomfort, KWIM? I just ate what I wanted, and stopped when I felt comfortable. I am so FREE!!!!!

Alcetis! I was coming to this thread to post something similar!!

After spending 8 days with my family in PA I can honestly say I did not go crazy and eat to over fullness even once!!!

When I felt like I was over doing it on a day, I just made the following day a fast-5 schedule and put off eating until the evening.

This makes me so proud of me!!!!

One other NSV: I felt comfortable in my clothes the whole time I was gone!

I only packed size 14's and one size 12 pair of pants that are a bit tight. Usually when I spend time with my family, I bring some bigger pants with elastic waist bands. That's because I know I'm going to be eating all the yummy food everyone makes and tons of carbs and baked goods.

This time I didn't do it. So, I knew I'd be pants-less if I succumbed to my usual stuff-myself-till-sick behavior.

One pair of pants was actually loose and the 12s were comfortable and not too tight. Yay!! Freeing! Victory!

Yay!! Freeing! Victory!
I love every single word of this post!!!
