Oh you guys are funny!

So, when I starts a few months ago, I was just counting caps and a snug US 12. I found JUDDD and didnt look back. I am sitting here in size 8.

Today's nsv: dh told me he though he could wrap his arms around me three times! I have never been petite. I am kind of tall(5'7"), very broad shoulders and really muscular,so this made my night.

Love this so, so much! What a wonderful NSV!! As another tall, broad woman (5'8") I have always longed for the feeling of being petite and enclosed in someone's arms. My DH is 5'11" & slim built, i never quite get the dainty feeling... but perhaps when i can fit into my 8's he'll say the same of me.

Exactly why I married a big guy. DH is 6'3" and even now that he's slim(mer), he makes me feel petite.

That was always my plan, generally attracted to the 6'5" and above crowd, but the heart surprised me with my DH!

That's funny. I always intended to marry an average sized guy so, if I had a daughter, she would be "normal." The heart surprised me with DH, too. Poor Keira is only 9 and looks 12!

Oh geez, I remember those days, it's hard to be a girl that's taller than everyone else. My toddler is 98% for height, they're saying he'll be very tall (guess he's taking after my side) but I figure it's easier on a boy than on a girl. I bet Keira is just perfect though, hope she isn't self conscious about it!

I used to pray every single night while I was pregnant that God would not send me a girl.
I couldn't imagine going through my suffering over again vicariously.
I have 3 sons.
6'4" 230
6'5" 230
6'4.5". 185 (He's a triathlete)
My instincts were right.
I think taller/bigger women are more accepted these days, but in my day they didn't even make 'tall' sizes and women's shoes went to size 9. I needed 10s. I wore shoes (and ice skates etc) that were too small till well into my 30s. My feet show the abuse to this day.
Now I know that accepting myself would have been the right thing to do and so much healthier for me, but I did not have the support or example I needed. (and today, I feel that I missed so much never knowing what it is like to have a daughter)
Ok, I'm done w/ the pity party now.
Thanks for listening.

Oh Pat! My 5'9" mom has said a lot of those same things. That must've been very hard. I'm blessed that the only struggle i faced was feeling self conscious abouy being taller than all the other kids. It is much more accepted these days, even sought after!

You were blessed w/ a mom who supported you! I am so glad!
I was a bitter disappointment to my mom who was 5'8' w/ an 18 inch waist.
We were able to find a way for a better relationship before she died. That is a pure blessing and I am grateful.
In my later years I have learned that every single person on earth has a cross to bear. We just can't always see it. I think our only 'earth-work' is to make this journey easier for others, no matter what is visible to us.

She loves being tall (so far)!

Pat, I was sooo self-conscious as a young teen. I don't think I ever felt okay about my height until I met DH when I was 28, and by then I was getting fatter and fatter. It's really a shame. I'm only just now learning to enjoy my height and my figure. What a waste of time. I totally understand what you went through!

Thanks, you guys. I'd sort of put the weight loss part of this on a back burner, being menopausal and so prone to big UDs. (It appears to be working anyway, albeit slowly.) Figured I'd Juddd away and enjoy some of the other benefits. YAYYYYY!

Wow, so many tall JBs! I was one of the tallest in my class until about 6th grade, when I stopped and everyone passed me! That was a weird identity shift. I must've gotten all my growth really early on, and then just quit. I'm not as tall as either of my parents. Pretty much everyone seems tall to me.

oooh, I did that, too!!! Crazy, huh? I keep wondering if that's what my DD is doing. (hope not) she's super tall for her age and predicted to be a nice height (5'7 or 5'8). I hope she's not shrimpy like me in the long run!

See, tall girls, we all want what we don't have! I sure would love some height...or just the 2" I used to have back!

Kristin, congrats girl, that's awesome!! You'll be dancing in those puppies soon enough!

I was one of the shortest kids in my class until 6th grade. Then I was sort of in the middle. In 7th grade, I grew 7 inches in 4 months! It's safe to say I passed up everyone, including all but one of the boys! They didn't start catching up until the end of high school.

My oldest was always really small for his age (10th percentile). We even held him back from starting school because of it (his birthday was just after the cut-off; he was smart enough to challenge it but was so small, we didn't feel it was a good idea).

When we took him off gluten at age 12, he grew almost a foot in a year and passed into greater than the 50th percentile. He grew so fast that he ended up breaking a leg in a very minor incident, like his bones hadn't caught up. It might have been just a growth spurt but the timing was suspicious.

He isn't super tall but is taller than my dad and brother and pretty close to my height now. I'm pretty sure he's actually grown a little this year in college.

That doesn't really have anything to do with anything but I thought I would mention it.

i have always been quite happy with my height, my sister is 3 inches taller than me and my mother was only 4' 11".

NSV, went to the gym here in Devon after being in London for over a month. £ people said how slim I was looking, and what had I been doing... Nice.
