2 UD days do NOT work for me!

really, would it be so totally horrible to do 2 DD instead? would my metabolism completely shut off in 48 hours? Two UD just make me gain and it takes me forever to get back where i was before the schedule mix up. maybe not make them super low? or one low and one 600 calories?

thoughts?

Have you tried a MD? MD is 60% on the calculator, and works out to the average of your UD and DD calories. Are you trying to do this on a regular basis, or to change your rotation?

Some have done 2 DDs in a row with no problem, but I wouldn't advise it as a "regular" thing.

no definitely not a regular thing. i had two ud this weekend and am going to end up having to do two more for thursday and friday. this is not going to be good. it is getting to the point where i cringe if if something social falls on a DD.

maybe i will try a MD. have you ever done two DD? my problem is i just know a MD will turn into an UD for me. unfortunately if there is one thing i have learned about myself - i am an all or nothing kinda gal.

The only time I did a second DD was when I got stuck at the doctor's office after a car accident and didn't make it home for dinner. I had eaten pretty lightly throughout the day, then just skipped dinner and went to bed. It wasn't planned. I didn't lose anything extra, but I didn't gain. I don't imagine it would hurt anything if it's only once in a while.

If you have a lot of social engagements, I wouldn't do 2 UDS, either. (I do them occasionally, though) I would fast all day and eat "lighter" at your social event. Know what I mean? Moderate days are not my friend but I have done plenty of DDs in WLM like I described.

oh believe me, the last thing i want to do is starve on a regular basis! i just didnt want to shut anything down for a long period of time. the more i read into it, the more i think that "starvation" actually takes longer than most people think.

Seriously, try sticking to your rotations through the social events. It's not as bad as you may think it is. Just fast all day, then house salad & a cocktail or two...or a lower calorie dinner with water or diet soda. (depends on your event, I guess)

I would really not do 2 DD in a row. Your metabolism won't shut down or anything (that is way more complicated), but what I find is if I restrict TOO much is then I go overboard on my next UD or two.

MD is a great way to manage days when you know you have social eating on consecutive days and you want to partake (notice how I said "want to" as there are always ways to minimize eating at social events.) If an event is at night, I will try to fast until the event and then watch portions as much as possible and if I get too hungry in the day I will eat something portion controlled and satisfying for me to tide me over. Like a Mcdouble (my go to - it is 400 cals and for me, VERY satisfying)

One thing I have finally conquered, and JUDDDD is surely part of that success, is that nothing is ever a free for all anymore. Because I can eat anything I want (not as much as I want, just whatever I want) there is no restricting kinds of food anymore. UUAD (which, btw, usually happen on social eating event days...) are few and far between now. It took some time, though, to get to that mindset - just keep at it.

yes. i need to get to that mindset. i have NEVER been good at moderation when it comes to food (luckily not the case with alcohol, could you imagine??) so i have to realize that there is NO free for all as you say. what is a mcdouble?

LOL - McDouble is on the Dollar Menu at McDonald's - A Double Cheeseburger but it only has 1 piece of cheese. It makes me feel like I am "cheating", since my mindset prior was fast food is "BAAAAD" - but really, it is just a small lunch. :-)

And good for you on the alcohol - that's where my free for alls come in generally - I sell wine for a living, so it goes down easy!!

Double UDs don't work for me either, but that hasn't stopped me from trying. I find that it takes me a week or more to get back to my previous low, when I really needed to keep losing lol. It's so frustrating, and yet it happens. I don't know if I could do two DDs in a row either, however. I have not found a fool-proof way to change rotations, much less just easing up on rotations--and still lose weight. Nevertheless, life is more important and WL can take a (temporary) back seat from time to time.

I too like a McDouble, I order mine with no cheese and pickles only = less calories and a hotter sandwich too!

About the alcohol - if I have it on a DD I can "feel it" big time

I will be having a MD soon, so it will be a DD, then the MD, then the UD and finally the eod will restart!

Good Luck!

Exactly! That "week or more" thing really ticks me off

I've been out of the loop for a while so I'm not sure if the potato thing is as hot as it was this summer but I've found potato days to be the easiest way for me to "switch" my rotations. There are threads on the potato hack, but just do it for 2 days. So you'd go UD, PD, PD, UD. You can eat more on the PDs - not UD cals but you go get more food into you. Just an option...

Doubling up on Potato Down Days sounds like a good thing to try, but I would add this caveat: don't do it unless you already know that Potato Down Days work for you. For some people, they set off cravings, and coming off two days of cravings is not a good way to enter a two-day Up Day phase.

So, for Mafiamom's situation this week, it might be too late to know.

I will be attempting a MD some time this week. Then again at the end of next week, and then again before Christmas. I think I could do 300 during the day, and allow 700 for dinner and it would work. Or even less before dinner...

I guess you're just going to have to try some things and see what works for you. As you can see, we all have different things that do and don't work for us. For me, I hate a MD with a passion. Haven't figured out why, other than it feels just like another DD maybe.

I don't think 2 DDs would put you into starvation mode. I wouldn't do them often, but I think it's an option if you think it would work better for you. 2 UDs tend to make me gain too, but that's the option I usually choose, as I don't need them too often.
