BPC who does it?

What do you put in it, why do you do it, and what are the calories?

BPC is bullet proof coffee, BTW. :-)

I usually have 2 coffees every morning and they change based on my mood, but it is usually a combination of MCT oil, grassfed unsalted butter, and coconut oil, about 1 TBS of each. Sometimes I'll do MCT oil and HWC. All together it's usually between 400 and 600 calories, but I also don't eat anything else until after 2pm. Definitely an UD type of meal unless your fat fasting all day and spread it out over a longer period of time.

I love BPC, but on my DD's I don't drink them. When I have one on my UD, I count it towards my daily numbers/macros.

ETA: I make mine with a TB of EVCO, a TB of Kerrygold and if I'm feeling indulgent I'll add a TB of heavy cream as well...

I did BPC for a few weeks last winter. I always make a big, probably 14 oz mug of coffee and used 1T each of unsalted butter and EVCO, plus my liquid sucralose. At first I really liked it, and it definitely quelled my hunger for hours and hours. Then all of a sudden it was like I couldn't stomach it. The thought made me kind of "gaggy". So I just quit and have been drinking my normal mug with 2T HWC.

I'm sorry I'm not getting the benefit of the CO's MCT oils, but it just wasn't working for me.

BTW, when I was doing it, I didn't count the calories, and it didn't seem to cause any problems in losing for me at that point. I was quite a lot heavier then, so I don't know whether that would still work for me or not. I just made sure I didn't eat anything else for about 4 hours after I had that. The theory is that the fat alone won't cause your body to realize it's breaking its fast.

There's an interesting article on Dr Mercola's site this morning about MCT oils and how they act like carbs in terms of the quick fuel they provide, but don't cause the body to produce an insulin spike like carbs. I'm not up on the science, but the MCTs don't need bile to process and the liver does all the work. The article is about how CO can be used in Alzheimers patients. Very interesting stuff.

Wow, I'm really chatty this morning. Sorry if that was more than you wanted Colleen!

Please keep chatting, Carol. I'm learning so much from you! Dr. Mercola's information sounds very interesting. BTW - I get gaggy from HWC in my coffee, so I use half and half. I've never tried CO, MCT oil or butter in my coffee.

I am on a DD, but I've been thinking about raising my DD calories a bit anyway, to ease into maintenance level, so I'll try a T of MCT in my coffee everyday and see what happens. If I start regaining, I'll back off using it on DDs.

For NK the MCT oil can be converted to Ketones very easily and provides an energy boost and brain boost for several hours. So if your doing NK or happen to be low carb enough to be using ketones as fuel it is very beneficial. Coconut Oil has less MCT but is still good and I love the taste in my coffee so I use a mix usually. I still consider it intermittent fasting to only have BPC in the morning and not eat any real food until around 2pm.

I got into a little kick after reading and reading on the internet and coming up with the BPC idea.
I had already been trying to wait till the end of the day on my DDs to eat anything, so that the true fast was going for approx. 36 hours.

The BPC (for me it was EVCO and butter - using my Ninja to get a nice frothy cup) held me till about noon, but then I was still pretty uncomfortable for the entire afternoon.
By the time I ate in the evening, I was limited to a few piddly calories because I was counting that fat overload in the morning.
I was also, as LCG said, gagging on the coffee which just won't work for me because my morning coffee is one of my simple pleasures and I wasn't looking forward to it anymore.

Once I discovered the cabbage soup (I know - I talk about it all the time ) I stopped the long fast, and the BPC.

Now I just have my delicious cup with half and half like old times, eat my soup starting at lunch. No more dreading DD!

Oh, that's too bad!

I just use the one on Allrecipes - Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup Recipe - Allrecipes.com

But really, you can just make it as you like it. I Leave out the celery, and add in zucchini. Hopefully this one isn't tomatoey - but if you think it might be, just reduce the tomato juice.
The onion soup mix gives a really good flavor.

Have you found that you're losing better too? I think I will make this soup too! I have a bunch of turnips that I need to use...do you think the addition of turnips (bottoms, not tops) would throw it off?

I do the BPC but much lower ratios. My tummy seems a bit sensitive to the EVCO and probably tmi but I end up in the bathroom if I ingest too much in one cup.

Here is my version of Salted Caramel BPC
6 oz coffee
1 tsp EVCO
1 tsp butter (I use the salted bc that's what I had in the house)
Just a splash or two of SF caramel syrup

So calories are about 73, which I have either counted or not counted and it did not seem to make a difference in my weight loss.

I have this for my last coffee of the morning on my DD and it seems to give me lots of energy for my late morning exercise or gets me through quite nicely at work up until about 11 or 12. Some days I will have a small breakfast and lunch and then save my coffee for the afternoon at work and this helps me get through the day with more energy and less hunger. (I work 12 hours shifts and often do not get dinner.)

I wish I could say it had some magical powers to actually burn fat... but no.
The benefit to me is that I can actually stick to this WOE.
My first 8 weeks of JUDDD I lost close to 2 lb/week.
Since starting cabbage soup I'm at about 1.33/week. But that's the natural course of weight loss I'm sure.
If I were not eating the soup, perhaps my loss would be slower - can't say. All I know is that I have something to eat on DD that is satisfying. And I'm getting LOTS of veggies in my diet which I didn't used to.

Turnips would be great! Better than carrots for the carb side of things. The main thing is to use veggies that are "free".

I only do BPC on UD's and not every UD. I use HWC, MCT oil and Kerrygold butter. The coconut oil makes me gag so I use MCT oil but only 1 t.

LOL, I know it doesn't actually burn calories, although that was the claim many years ago. I was mostly interested in whether you were losing better by eating the soup instead of eating other things on your DD (that maybe added up to more calories). I don't think I'll get around to making it tonight, because I don't have many of the ingredients at home and don't want to stop at the store (yet again). I do plan to make it very, very soon though, and hope it will make DDs easier.

LOL, I didn't think you were suggesting that...
Yes, I think I'm doing better because I used to eat up to the 500 mark and go slightly over and still feel so hungry.
Now I am able to stay in the 300-450 range.

I'm one who gags at the mere thought of BPC. I tried twice and had to pour it down the sink after 1 sip.

Nope- I simply could not get past the taste or mouth feel.

There was once a very long thread about it. If I can find it I'll link it.

When I started making it with MCT oil instead of coconut oil, I started liking it. I could not stand it with coconut oil. I too poured it down the drain. GAG.

I put some 90% dark chocolate in there with the coconut oil and HWC yesterday morning just to try out the chocolate.
Far too bitter. Maybe if I'd halfed the chocolate square... (Lindt)

I'll just say that I tried BPC and BPtea (bc really, I don't do coffee)... and in the end, I discovered all I need is the caffeine, and not the calories from the oil/butter.

so on DDs, I have my pteroblue, and a bit of caffeinated tea (gotta watch it, or I wind up zooooooming like yesterday! ) and I'm usualy alert and not hungry, which is the point of the BPC.

I didn't have BPC this morning. I ran out of coffee and had to drink instant, and I didn't want to further insult myself. I think I might try it tomorrow though, on my DD.

Turnips (and parsnips) get REALLY sweet when they are cooked a long time. Sometimes it can be a bit much, but if you want to counter acidity, it seems like a good addition.

I put co in my coffee every morning. That is my creamer. But you have to blend it up to taste good. I use my stick blender and it makes a foam on top of the coffee. I sweeten with stevia. So Good!!!

I'm not currently JUDDD'ing - but am considering it once again - but did do them on a DD. I'd do 1 tsp. each of butter, CO, and HWC. Used a frother to stir it up (necessary or it's ). Not too many calories and it does help hunger wise.

An UD would be 1 T each of butter and CO. Save the HWC for just coffee during the day. I counted the calories because I don't think my body lets a calorie sneak by it.

I have them everyday because it keeps going all morning, usually.
