Misery loves company. I hate this time of year - I am such a slug and afraid it's affecting my eating. All I can think about is comforting with food. <sigh> So not good. I haven't been keeping to my numbers on UD and DD and my weight so far is just staying the same 2-3 pounds - and THAT is depressing also.

Anyone with some inspiration? I usually try to talk myself out of my funk, but this year not being too successful.

So many with health and personal issues - here's a collective hug!

Okay, this thread needs a new direction!
Many good little things:
Having fun coloring in the invitations for our party last night, while sitting next to my Honey on the sofa watching a show.
Getting past the halfway point on laying the new floor.
Calimyrna figs- little bombs of deliciosness.
Tornado warnings saving lives by giving people time to get to shelter. (Okay, that's a big one, but I am happy about hearing about it today.)
Making the list for our Thanksgiving dinner- so much good food coming our way.
Finding a new apple variety called 'Envy'. Such a good name for an apple.
Intelligent stuff to listen to on the radio while I am working.
Contemplating having to buy smaller underpants.
Waking up before the alarm goes off, and having time to stretch. And room, too, because the dogs are cuddled up next to me, and not on top of my feet.

Let's hear some from y'all.

Those are all wonderful Sirtain!

Mine: Keira's going to her grandmother's house next Wednesday and I'll have DH all to myself from Wednesday night until Saturday morning when we'll go to the coast for Thanksgiving (we do it on Saturday) and to pick up the kidlet. I'm amazingly blessed to still be madly in love with my DH after 14 years and still get overjoyed at alone-time with him.

I am sorry that so many had a difficult day yesterday. I am grateful today that I don't have to go out as it is -4f (-20c, I think I have the conversion right) and the roads are icy. I do have a lot to get done here at home so that works out great for me! It is also UD so I am almost guaranteed to have a good day.
Hope everyone has a better day today and that your DH's minor surgery goods well today Cindy.
Thinking of you as well Carly and hoping that you get some positive news from your perinatologist.

I hope to be more regular in my postings here, although I tend to not reveal too terribly much about myself, family, or issues (other than this losing weight thing). Yeah, I'm paranoid about being recognized.

I love this time of year! The cooler weather and the holidays, even though after they're over I always feel like I didn't enjoy them enough. I love being able to go home, light the fireplace and curl up in a chair waiting for DH to come home.

Today is my first DD (wonder how many "firsts" I've had ). It's going good and hope I can keep this "high" going. I've gotten good at keeping track of my carbs for quite awhile now, so I just need to stay on top of things and keep those calories in line, too.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Brrr! Do you have icicles, Babsbabs? They are one good part of cold weather. I love watching them form, and then, later, dripping away to nothing.

Hi all. Been busy busy pouring wax melts for this weekend's craft show. Only problem is I poured Banana Cream Pie and Lemon Bundt Cake and I am now STARVING for Banana Cream Pie. Every time I move I smell Banana Cream Pie. Finally figured out I have wax on my T-shirt so I have changed and I am baking a sweet potato for lunch. But I still want PIE.
Otherwise all is well with me. Hope everyone else gets back on track and all of the problems get resolved.

I think it has to melt a bit first to get the icicles. I am looking forward to that! Now it is just cold. On a positive note it looks pretty.

that stuff looks pretty...as long as you're INSIDE where it's nice & warm!!! Oh how I despise winter. {sigh} I hate the icy roads most!!! (and the COLD!)

Goner, you can do this gf, one day at a time! Nothing wrong with maintaining a bit this time of year! I know it's now as exciting on the evil scale, but when you think about it, maintaining is the REAL GOAL long term, so it should be exciting!

Carly, I will be thinking of you and DW with fertility treatments! It's such an emotional time, but a baby is so exciting to think about!! XO

Hope everyone's feeling better today. Busy here but wanted to pop in quick!

Hi All!
I actually walked out of work at just about 5pm!!!!
That was the good part- there was so much traffic and by the time I ran to the grocery store it was about 6:40pm when I got home.
The good part- I still ran on the elliptical for 2.45 miles.
The next good part- Bedtime snack is in about 90 minutes!

I'm not as upset about being 5'1.5" but actually would like to lose a bit more... especially if baby weight is in my future. I'll see what the perineonatologist (or however you spell it) says about losing weight while trying.

Happy Wednesday all!

I had good news this morning... My scale finally decided to move after 2 weeks and I hit a new JUDDD low, 174.8. And while they're snug, the next size pants fit this morning. I should have taken this as a message not to go as crazy on my UD today. Buuuuuuuttttt.....

Hello JBs, I thought, I'll just join the chat tonight as I can't sleep. Could be because I went to bed at 8 am and woke up at 11:30 am! The main problem is my feet are burning (probably from all that walking). I decided to take a rest day but unfortunately, the mouth didn't! So had quite an up day! Goner, I'm in the same boat
Talking of height reduction, I used to be 5'5", I'm sure I've shrunk an inch too!
Thank God for California weather, it's absolutely lovely here during the day. Never did like the cold when I lived in London or Ireland. Loved both places but burr, that damp cold just went through you.
Carly, I had my only child at 35 and my niece had her's "in vitro" at around your age, so you go girl!
Another trip looming on the horizon in January. This time to Australia! So, I have to get some of the other vacation wgt off first!

Congratulations on your new JUDDD low Tammy! California weather sounds perfect JD as does a trip to Australia. DH is flying to Prague today to visit his Dad and will be gone for a week. I am hopeful that this will help me to stay on track eating wise as there should be less opportunities to eat out.

Sometimes I just need to admit I'm in a funk and then I can climb out. At any rate, I feel more optomistic today. Flutter, I realize maintaining over the holidays would be a big improvement over past holidays - guess I was having a little pity party over not seeing a lower number. However - today I have decided to quit doing what I "was" doing and expecting NEW results. DUH.

So yesterday's DD turned into a MD. I had been ok for a few weeks not eating on a DD till dinner - but lately I am feeling overly hungry and when I begin to eat at dinner - I can't find the brakes. So today needs to be a Dd or a MD - whatever, but tomorrow and Saturday I have celebration dinners in my honor - and do not want to look like I'm not eating when others are taking me out and paying. After all, my weight problems are not due to a once a year event.

That said - for my DD I've decided to eat 3 - 100 calorie meals thru the day - which I did when I began JUDDD. coffee and protein for breakfast always leaves me satisfied for a long time - I think it's better for me right now then listening to my stomach growl all day and then go home and eat everything not tied down for the rest of the night. If I feel deprived I can easily convince myself I deserve to eat more than I need.

Carly, for me losing height is one of those signs of aging, but yours of course is not that. I mean, we're all aging, but you're not getting old. I haven't had my height measured in a long time. I should probably do that. I can't wait to hear that you and DW are expecting!

Tammy - on your new low! So happy for you!

JD, sorry you were having pain and trouble sleeping. Your trip to Australia sounds wonderful! You really do have a wonderfully adventurous life!

Babs, I'm sure you'll miss DH, but enjoy that time to yourself. Maybe a little pampering is in order!

Colleen, that Lyme's sounds scary! I sure hope that's not what you have, but good that you're taking measures now.

Aw, Goner. I'm so glad you're feeling better today. Those funky moods can really put a damper on everything, and throw a wrench into our eating. I think you've got a good plan, and that may make you feel even better, especially when the scale starts moving again!

It's cloudy and cool here today, and I'm really enjoying it. 350 days of sunshine a year gets kind of boring, especially when you've got holiday fever, come from the Midwest, and miss that autumn feeling.

Hey all. Had an amazing first DD followed by a 3.5 lb. loss! Know it won't hold, but that's lower than I've been even doing Atkins '72! What an ego boost for a beginning!

Warm here but cold weather coming. Can't wait!

Hooray for Latte!

As I was reading through the threads, it made me think of what a blessing
this board is to all of us. Remember the old saying "what happened in Vegas,
stays in Vegas"? Well whatever kind of day we had as a JB we can come here
and keep it right on JUDD BUD'S Board! We don't have to pretend it did or didn't
happen. This is my Thanksgiving blessing.

As the Thanksgiving holiday is approaching we can view it as another obstacle,
or as another opportunity. Remember, it's only ONE MEAL out of 90 meals
for the month. Make it an UP day and keep yourself happy and sane.
For me it's going out and having a regular portion of turkey and all the trimmings, but with limited portions because I am not at home.
I will make a low carb pumpkin pie/cake and have it with whipped cream at
home. That is the only food that's not on plan. No more denying myself
a bit of stuffing, mashed taters, gravy or sweet potato. Enjoy!

Yesterday was a DD but I had an important lunch date with a very good
friend whom I hadn't seen in a long time. We met at an Asian buffet and
I was very careful with one exception. I didn't have dinner in the evening,
just two cups of tea with creamer. I consider it a medium day and will
exchange it for my Saturday Med. day and make it a DD. Today is a regular
UP day.

Life is always like a JUDD plan. Up days and down days. May you all
have the desires of your heart and may you all take your days in your stride.
Knowing that there is always tomorrow. When I feel a spiritual DD coming
on, I can always come here for support, advice and strength.

Thanks, ladies. I'm already seeing I'm going to have to make an effort to eat up to my UD calories (1990). It's mid-afternoon and I haven't even hit 1000 calories yet. This was my problem last year. Eating low carb keeps me so darn satisfied!

Barbo, before coming back to JUDDD, I was planning on taking Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day off. I know I won't stuff myself because eating low carb for the past several months has me feeling like I'm truly cheating if I eat something carby. Not as in cheating off plan, but cheating my body! I'll enjoy, but not overdo. I put in another thread that I'd be happy with turkey and pecan pie!

Hi JBs, Awww, Barbo, You are so sweet!
LG, Your time will come darling, I am sure. Advantages of being older, I guess I'm also lucky enough to be able to retire early.
Wow, Latte, hurray for the big drop!
Thanks LCG, Took a day off from walking still the same issue.

Couldn't sleep yet again, so ended up tidying up my pantry, cleaning the fridge and ironing until 7:00 am this morning! Finally fell asleep and woke up at 12:30 yikes! Weather is iffy, can't make up its mind whether to rain or not! I'm sure my head is trying to make it an excuse to not go walking! We shall see! For the time being, off to cooking! And it's my DD, so better keep myself occupied! my JBs!
