November JUDDD Newbie

Hi All! I've been reading your posts and appreciate the information. I'm starting life in JUDDD today! A year ago I had lost 60 lb with Kyle Leon's customized fat loss program. For those of you not familiar with that it entails a customized dietary program based upon body metrics, age and exercise- eating 6 times a day with rigorous dietary tracking and adherence to parameters of carbs, protein, fat and overall calorie intake. It also involves a fairly rigorous work-out program including both weight training and aerobics. It definitely did work but frankly untenable on the long run unless you really enjoy the tight leash and whip.

I had seen Mosley's information re 'the Fast Diet' and saw his reference to the JUDDD approach. I just don't believe that 2 down days a week will get me far enough/ fast enough to maintain my commitment. I have 40 lb to lose since falling of Kyle's program last April in addition to 20 more that still needed work. So, am thinking the ADF may be the answer.

I wonder how important it is to really get all those calories in on the down day? It would be a whole lot easier just to plain fast on those days. What are your thoughts?

Fasting completely is perfectly fine on DDs. Dr. Johnson indicated that would be preferable but thought most people wouldn't want to do it. Just make sure to get close to your UD calories.

If you can fast, that is the best way. Dr. Johnson didn't think the average person could do a complete fast so gave us some calories.

I found a group called iFasters (google it) yesterday and she said women need to really go as low as possible on fast days to lose. I know our stars here such as Carly and Dawn, did very low DD's. this fits in with the writing on iFasters.

Welcome to the group. It is great!

My husband fasts completely on alternate days. He prefers it to eating very little. Heís been doing it for about four months now, and is losing weight well and feeling fine.

Buzzie! I hope you will really love JUDDD. It is so do-able and fits into life so easily.

I haven't done super low DDs for the most part and have lost well. Slower than I'd like at times, but I haven't wanted to feel deprived. If you can do a complete fast EOD, then go for it! I bet your results will be great!

Welcome to you!!! I can't add any more than the others, other than to say, I get hungry when I eat anything. When actively trying to lose weight, my preferred DDs were coffee and a skinny latte later in the day if I got super hungry. Worked great for me. If you can completely fast, that's awesome!

Itís weird how long it takes our perceptions to catch up with reality. I know Iíve lost 15 lbs since July. I know the graph is steadily moving downwards, and my clothes are getting looser. But I feel as if Iím not making any progress. Ph well, I suppose my brain will catch up in the end.

This is so very common. I've lost 132 pounds and there are days I still feel like I'm huge. Yesterday, I was comfortably wearing my size 6 Levi's and still felt like a cow. Then, there are other days I feel great about my body. I'm hoping it will eventually catch up and my brain will "get it."

I agree about the brain not always being aligned with the body. Some days I look at my stomach and it still looks like it did when I weighed 200 pounds. (in my mind's eye).

I came across a photo of myself from 10 years ago, when I first lost the weight with LC. I look OK, but not by any means skinny. Just out of interest, I dug out my weight records from back then. I was about 4 lbs less than I am now, so I think my aim of losing another 10 lbs is about right.

Newbie Here w/Question

Good Morning all,

I have been on my journey to better health since July 4th, 2013 and have managed to lose about 50 pounds on Atkins, but I find that I am getting a little restless and would like to add in a little variety without sabotaging the progress that I've already made.

So after lurking and absorbing all of the wonderful information that is available here, I thought I would give JUDDD a try (starting at this very moment).

However, I am a little concerned with my numbers. I went to Dr. Johnsons website and my UD is 2190 and DD is 438. I don't think I can eat 2190 calories in a day. I just don't eat like that anymore, I usually average around 1200-1300...Do you think that will be a problem?

I appreciate any thoughts and advice anyone has to offer.

Lee.

Please try to get up to your UD calories, or at least close. It shouldn't be too difficult to do. If you're staying low carb, use plenty of butter, nuts, nut butters, cheese, etc. If you're not staying low carb, wine and chocolate work!

LEE524= For two weeks (at least) you need to follow the cal restrictions as close as possible! I'm not sure you will have the success you are looking for with this diet, if you don't follow it's guide lines. To get to your goal calories lower your fat and up your carbs.. I came right off induction and straight to JUDDD... I didn't gain at all I still lost (although I went on a crazy emotional eating rampage and gained), but when I did it correctly it rocks and it's effective!

Juddd is an amazingly flexible and freeing way of eating. The only "rules" are stick to your UD/DD calories.
