Statins lower cholesterol without addressing any of the reasons on why the cholesterol is there in the first place. Cholesterol is how your body repairs damage, so infection, inflammation, many other issues can cause a rise in cholesterol and if you just lower your cholesterol and don't fix the underlying issue, if any, then it will go unchecked and could lead to many other issues or ongoing issues.

This is the biggest problem with Statins, they will lower the cholesterol but the issues will still remain. Also statins have not been proven to prevent CVD, but they do cause all kinds of side effects.

It's an easy way for a doctor to say they have fixed something, but they are doing no one any favors by not looking into the root cause of the issue.

I wouldn't say ALL meds. There are some that are genuinely necessary.

That's awesome! 3 inches in 3 weeks is amazing!

I know what you mean, of course some meds are really necessary. But I really think we have been "advertised" so much by pharmaceutical companies--they are trying to convince us all that it is normal for us all to be on some kind of meds. And of course they get the monetary benefits by trying to change our outlook on taking meds.

I work in the medical field and what I see very often shows that there seems to be no self responsibility or accountability, just fix me if I am broken rather than I will take care of myself as best as I can, and only then take meds if needed. Yes it was a bit of a soapbox I was on with that post, I did not mean to offend.

Countdown to weigh in!

Only four more days until my weigh-in day Wednesday morning! I'm getting very excited to see the results. A little nervous that I'll be disappointed by the scale number, but also thinking I might be pleasantly surprised. I'll measure that morning too, just to be sure I fully comprehend what has happened over the month.

I also have to go to the MVD on Wednesday to get a new photo made. Our licenses don't expire for many many years, but we do have to get updated pictures every 12 years, and mine came up. My current license has me looking thin and I was at probably an all time low adult weight at that point.

It's good I'll be weighing that morning, because I will know how much I'll be lying about my weight on the new license. YES, I'm going to lie about my weight and put my goal weight, because I know I will be there very soon!

I like your idea Carol. I think I will weigh in Tuesday morning as that is the day we are celebrating Thanksgiving with family because hubby and I are working on Thursday. It is also after a DD. That will be almost 4 full weeks of not weighing. And I will take measurements too and report back here.

After that I am planning on not weighing until right before Christmas, probably the 24th as that will be after the last DD before Christmas. I know for sure I will not make Christmas a DD even though the calendar says it should be.

Drum roll.........

Okay guys, I decided to weigh and measure this morning instead of tomorrow, for a few reasons:

1. Today is post DD
2. I decided to go get my new drivers license today and I wanted to know by how much I'd be lying (hehe - it was 35 pounds. Don't tell!)
3. I'm impatient!

So, here goes. I am now 175. I lost 5.5 pounds this month, and I'm now officially out of the obese and into the overweight category!

Even more exciting than the weight though, is that I've lost 5.75 inches:

Starting weight: 180.5 - Ending weight: 175.0 - Difference: -5.5
Neck: 13.25" - 13.0" - -0.25"
Bicep: 13.5" - 13.0" - -0.5"
Forearm: 10.0" - 10.0" - 0.0"
Chest: 36.5" - 35.0" - -1.5"
Waist: 35.5" - 35.0" - -0.5"
Hips: 47.25" - 44.5" - -2.75" (!!!)
Thigh: 25.25" - 25.0" - -0.25"
Calf: 15.0" - 15.0" - 0.0"

November Goals:
*Exercise at least 4 times per week - DONE
*Keep good rotations - mostly 500/2000 to support my increased activity - DONE
*Occasionally lower DDs to keep my metabolism guessing - DONE

I'm going to weigh again tomorrow morning and then not any more until right before Christmas. I really like the way I feel not thinking about it every single day! Plus, I won't have to see the "damage" done over the Thanksgiving weekend. It'll all be resolved by the next weigh in.

I just checked my license. I was honest when I renewed last December because I knew I wasn't going to lose much more. I'm now 25 pounds LESS than my license says.

Woooo LCG!!! Fantastic!!

I am not weighing and measuring until Saturday which is after a DD because I have been sick the past few days and not really following the DD/UD too closely. Hopefully feeling way better soon. It's so hard to plan meals ahead, etc when feeling so yukky.

Carol,
When I got my California state ID card, I put my goal weight too. And so I only lied by 13 pounds. And I sure hope, like Dawn, at some point I'll look at my license and say - gee, that's not right anymore because its too high!!
We are awesome. And we are mighty. And we will continue to lose!

Yay Carol. No-weigh really worked for you!

That was an amazing year Dawn!

Get better Barb.

I think it's rather weird, (especially as gaining/losing weight is a national pastime,) that you have to pin down a weight on your license.
I also find it absolutely hilarious that you can lie about it!

I now have visions of the traffic cop:
"Would you please step out of the car madam ... ?
Would you step on this scale please ... ?"

You're so right Flossyliz - it's ridiculous to put down weight, or hair color, or even eye color with the colored lenses available. Height is about the only thing you can't change.

Barb, you take care and feel better!

Thanks to you all for all the cheers. I'm so glad I did this little experiment.

Congratulations Carol! I'm glad one of us stuck to it and that you had such great results. I've had a couple of carb re-feeds this past weekend and still haven't recovered so I'll probably end the month up, but I'm not sweating it at this point. My overall BF% is holding steady at below 15% so no real changes except maybe some muscle gain. I'll still post an end of month results once 11/30 rolls around.

I'm assuming it's so they can identify you if you commit a crime and go on the Lam. There's no scale, no way to measure height, etc. at the DMV, so really the picture is the only thing that's certain.
