Wow Leona! Fantastic!

No, I haven't given in and weighed. I am curious, because I feel like it's going well so far this month, but I'll wait. I'd just it if I'm blown away by the number on the 27th, but it may not happen like that. I'm just trusting the JUDDD magic for now. But you've inspired me!

Tomorrow for the first time I will try on my winter pants that I am using to gauge my progress. I have been feeling so good that I don't want to ruin the feeling by stepping on the scale. in the end, if I love how I feel in my skin and how I look in my clothes, will it really matter what the actual number says? Just trying to get my head in the right place for my long term peace of mind...

You guys are doing so well! I still have the fear of gaining 10 lbs over the course of a month without realizing it, if I don't weigh. I know that it probably wouldn't happen, but I can't let go of the thought. I admire all of you!

Sticking to no weigh November, but I do miss weighing in a little. It has been such a habit over the last 2+ years, and I miss just tracking the numbers. Even when they weren't changing or bouncing around a little, plus I can't track my BF % without weighing. But I'll keep on through the end of the month.

Barb, you're doing just great! I didn't think to measure during the month. I probably won't do it until weigh in day on the 27th - I hate the whole measuring process. Glad you did though!

Mike, it really is a habit, isn't it? The feedback is important, as long as we can keep it in perspective, which you do a great job of.

Barb - bet those pants fit by December 1! I just know they will!

Carol - so nice to see you responding to each and everyone of us! Always puts a smile on my face when I read your thoughts!

I just noticed you both are from AZ! We did visit your state a few years back, went to Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City, Wickenburg and close to Phoenix ( that place is too big for me, too much traffic )

I now feel a bit bad about stepping on the scale, so promise I will not do that again until I am suppose to!

Aw Leona, you're so sweet!

I am shocked at how I don't think about weighing in the mornings. I admit I'm curious how it's going so far this month, but my gut tells me it's going well. I really like the freedom of not thinking about it ALL.THE.TIME.

I am really enjoying not thinking about the scale. Well obviously I am thinking about it if I am making a comment about it…but it feels so relaxing to not be worrying about any particular number. I have been keeping up with my exercising and eating more healthy on the UD and feeling really good in general. I know this is what I need to focus on for long term peace of mind. And thanks again Mike for getting this train of thought going in my head, it was definitely needed at this time in my life.

Hope you are all having a lovely day!

Two more weeks until my end of November weigh in. That's two more weeks to have great DDs, controlled UDs, and good workouts. I'm also trying to spend some time visualizing a smaller, tighter me.

I'm also thinking a no weigh December may be in the cards for me. Weigh in on 11/27 and then not again until right before Christmas.

LCG, I have been doing the same thing with visualization without really realizing it I guess. Like where I want to be and enjoying certain activities over the winter and in the spring, and how I would feel if I were smaller and in better cardio shape, and with stronger muscles. It does help me stay on track more consistently I have noticed. And I like that state of mind rather than thinking about a number.

I'm still hanging in, feeling good about not weighing. Anyone else?

Barb, that's so great that you're visualizing too. I do believe in the power of that. It's like our brain "practicing" for what we want to happen.

I'm doing good, sticking to it. I have an annual physical tomorrow so I'll need to close my eyes and ask the nurse to keep it to herself when they weigh me. But I have to admit I'm curious.

I'd see what the DR weight says as i feel their scale is more accurate! So you will be able to see what their scale says from last year too!

Good Luck with this, I go next month and i am hoping he will do the particle size test! I never had one but believe it is a great test!

If you had tests done last year they should be able to give you a print out of it so you can compare this years test to last years too.

Just my thoughts!

Well I weigh about 50lbs less than my last physical, at least as of my weight on 10/31. So their weight isn't going to be very useful to me for comparison. I can always call back at the end of the month and see what it was.

I know if I had lost 50 # the nurses and doctor would be talking about it, asking how I did it and how great I looked, that is if I were you!

But it is not me as then I would be only 70 #

You do have a good idea to call back the first of December, but something tells me people will be talking about your great success at the DR. tomorrow!

I'm pretty scared

because I had that awful 10 day binge.

I'm back on track. Had my best DD yet. Course it's not over until
I sleep at about midnight. Looking forward to a couple cups of

Well No Weigh November is officially a bust! I avoided seeing my weight and no one told me but right at the top of the summary sheet for the visit was my weight! Didn't know it was on there and I saw it before I realized what it was. And of course it was higher than I wanted to see, and I know I was fully clothed and wearing shoes so it wasn't an accurate weight to compare to my last, but I also know the clothes don't add more than 2lbs. So I weighed myself this morning to figure out the real increase. And I did gain 5lbs but I also just had a mini carb re-feed and thai food the night before so some must be water gain and temporary. But I also checked my BF% and it was the same at 15% so maybe some lean body mass gains too.

Oh well, I started and probably won't stop. I think I like the numbers and stats and tracking them too much. I miss capturing the data. And last month I don't think any number caused any anxiety as much as the unknown did.

The good news is that the doctor was truly impressed with my weight loss and had to ask if I had had any weight loss surgery, and was impressed when I said I hadn't. We talked about diet and he was fully on board with paleo/primal very low carb. And with my exercise plan. And he remarked on the lack of loose skin except around my lower abdomen and that my exercise and diet choices and pace helped that. He agreed to the expanded blood panel and even added a couple he wanted to check on so I should have those results by the end of the week.

Overall a really positive appointment!

Nice results Mike! You should be so proud at the improvements you've consciously done for your health. You'll be around a lot longer in this condition!

However ....you who convinced me to no-weigh have abandoned me! Just kidding! I'm still so pleased you suggested this and I really do like it. I'm still feeling great and know I've lost in size, if not in weight. I'm still going until the 27th - only just over a week away. No problem!

I still think this an awesome idea and I can't wait to try it out in January. I'm not ready yet, but I've already decided that I'm starting the New Year off by not stepping on that scale.

Mike!!!

You must be so pleased that your Dr. had such great comments, losing 50 # and no sagging skin is SUPER great!

I understand about the weighing stuff, maybe for you it is best to step on that thing more often then just once a month.

I am sure you will get great results on the tests that were done too.

I go on Dec. 6 and hope to get some blood work tests done, I'm not real sure what the particle size test is called for sure, but I do know that this year all lab test are covered 100%, with no out of pocket for me. Can you tell me what is the "correct" name for this test and any other tests you can think of that I should get?

Thanks ever so much! And again about the great Dr. visit!

Thanks everyone.

Carol - Sorry to "abandon" you, but I'll cheer on as you continue what I started.

Leona - I'm not sure what the actual test is called, I think my doctor just referred to it as an expanded lipid panel or something like that. Your doctor should know how to code it when requesting the test if you say something like that or refer to wanting to know the particle count of the small and large LDL. The problem with the standard test is it doesn't even bother counting the LDL it just calculates it, which is dumb if you ask me because it is the "bad" cholesterol. I'm interested to see what my results come back as. If it isn't what I expect then I'm going to do an additional comprehensive test through WellnessFX.

Well I got my results back, and it is called the NMR LipoProfile, and I'm totally confused by them. Most of the indicators for risk for CVD are at a fairly low risk and the numbers are in the target range, some way higher/lower in the good direction. The LDL-P and LDL-P, the specific markers I was looking for more clarity on are the ones that are way high and of course my Doctor is over reacting and wants me on a statin. I haven't talked to him but this was relayed by the nurse who called. I'm have no intention of going on a statin, and I think there is a reasonable cause for the high numbers, even possibly error in the evaluation so I would have several more tests before I believed these numbers were accurate. I also think that since I have been in ketosis for the best part of the last 3 months and actively metabolizing my body fat for fuel that it makes sense that my numbers may be artificially high just from that fact. If I were to come out of ketosis for a while and stabilize my metabolism and just maintain for a bit and retest I might see much different results. So I'm going to schedule a re-test with a different lab and maybe in the morning so I won't have fasted for almost 20 hours before the test, keep it to about a 12 hour fast.

Also my testosterone came in below the reference range which I don't know about. Kinda weirded out about that, but when I asked about the test the doctor kinda said he didn't think much of the test. I'll probably get that independently tested as well.

Less happy.

I completely agree with you Mike, about your LDLs and being in ketosis. And also not just jumping on the statin train like most doctors seem to want to do. You're smart to get more testing and find alternatives if necessary. I'm sorry the results weren't all what you wanted to see. But you know you're in good health, and much much better than you were just a relatively short time ago.

The push to prescribe statins will only get stronger:
Quote:
"We've come up with an approach that calls for treating about a third of adults between 40 and 75 years of age with statins for primary prevention," said Dr. David Goff, co-chair of the risk assessment working group for the guidelines and dean of the Colorado School of Public Health at the University of Colorado-Denver.

"I think it sounds about right," given that one out of three adults in America die from heart disease and stroke, Goff said.
Some Doctors Challenge New Statin Guidelines
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/14/op...tins.html?_r=0

According to this author, the new guidelines suggest an alarming 70% increase in the number of people prescribed these drugs, in spite of the potential risks they pose.

Years from now will this be seen as a good thing? Or will new information be available showing more harm than good?
Only time will tell. I for one will not be part of the big experiment.

I agree, stay far far away from all meds as humanly possible. Always always always think prevention, because the treatment is far worse than the cure so many times.

Pants update: I can now button those pants! No muffin top. May not be able to eat and sit and breathe in them though, I am not trying it until they are just a bit looser. Still very excited, to go from 3 inches apart to buttoning up in just three weeks.
