Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy

Check this out!! I'm so excited to see improvement in 4 months. At first they gave me the wrong results and had me worried, but things are straightened out now.

Prior to giving up all grains and sugar:

7/13
Total cholesterol: 257
LDL: 155
Triglycerides 275 !!!

I stopped eating grains and sugar.

10/13
Total cholesterol: 215
LDL: 141
Triglycerides 110

I know the total is still high but my doc says she doesn't focus on that as much as the "bad" and the triglycerides. So. I'm not saying I will never (occasionally) ever eat grains/sugar again - but I know, for me, the improved numbers are a result of eating differently. I bet if I was better at getting exercise it would also reflect on those numbers.

Bottom line: doc said if I keep doing what I've been doing plus add in daily exercise, I won't be needing anything to lower my cholesterol.

Woohoo! I'm more determined than ever to JUDDD my way to better health.

That's fantastic, shark!! I hope I see improvements like these, since I have given up sugar and grains too.:high5:

ETA: How long have you been sugar/grain free?

Goner 10-28-2013 05:00 PM

Great Job! You must feel so good about not needing meds for your cholesterol!

Hey, thanks everyone!

LG: I completely gave up the grains and refined sugar in July of this year. I do have an occasional serving of fruit but try to pick lower sugar content ones. How are you feeling since not eating sugar and grains?

Librarygirl 10-28-2013 06:10 PM

I'm feeling pretty good. :) It's only been a week, and I have been experiencing some headaches. I remember them from LC last year, and was told it was typical of a sugar detox. I love the absence of crazy cravings most of all. It truly is freeing.

 You're doing great. Those nasty detox headaches don't hang on for too long. It's rather scary how we react when our system is cleaning itself out. Better out than in..as the saying goes. LoL

It *is* scary, and lets us know that it truly is a bodily addiciton. I hate to imagine what it would be like if I quit drinking coffee.:faint:
