I learned something very important

No exercising for this girl on DD!! I do a lot of walking and today I walked 5 miles. BIG mistake! HUGE! Not because I don't have the energy, I actually had a ton, but because it increased my appetite so much!! I was starving, like pain in the pit type starving. For me, I shall keep my exercising to the days when I can actually eat!

Yes, you do learn a lot while JUDDDing. However, as time goes on, you may find that your appetite isn't as stimulated by exercise as it was in the beginning. For now, do what is intuitive.

I actually find that running or walking further suppresses my appetite. If feel hungry in the evening on an DD and then I run 2 miles on the elliptical my hunger goes into hibernation for a while longer. You may find you react differently as time passes.

I hope this is the case! I like to workout every day but man was it a hard day to get thru after my power walk! I'll see how this changes as I progress.

I agree with the others, that this may change as you adapt to JUDDD. I exercise whatever days I feel like it, usually first thing in the morning. I haven't noticed any pattern of it making me more hungry. I didn't exercise at all for many months after starting JUDDD, so can't really say how it would have been early on.

You're doing what all new JUDDDers do, and that's learn the ropes for your own situation. Interesting, isn't it?

You could also have more calories if you've exercised and have that gnawing hunger, especially if you're using the no exercise dd calorie levels. that level of hunger probably won't always happen, but I hate to see anyone avoid exercise for that reason.

I have had great luck exercising early/mid-day on DDs. It feels like I am so fresh and just have bounding energy. And have not had much extra hunger after at all. This is also doing some decent running distances, i.e. 3+ miles most workouts.

Hopefully it will work out for you to workout! One thing I have found is although I love coffee, I should only have it in the morning pre-workout and not after, as coffee seems to trigger some hunger for me. Good luck!

I always like to remember, that if I am hungry on a Down Day, the only place my body can get the energy is from storage. Not that it makes it any easier to bear, but I think it anyways.

In his original book (the one I read), Dr. Johnson specifically warns against exercising on DDs.

Personally, I didn't think it wise to exercise on my 350 cal DDs (for health reasons), and I had no problem losing weight or toning while limiting my workouts to UDs.
