Pleasantly surprised. JUDDD still rocks!

I've had a roller coaster ride this week. My twin grandbabies were born, and I ended up doing a planned second UD. Since then, I've been able to keep my rotations, but I felt I was really overeating a lot on my UDs (more than usual, lol) and that my weight would go up more than the 2-3 pounds it usually does. It may have gone up a day or two (I didn't check), but I was at my usual bottom weight again this morning. It never ceases to amaze me how stable my weight is with JUDDD!

My daughter had a planned C-section at 37 weeks (full term for twins) and Caroline was born weighing 5 lbs., 9 oz., and her brother, Connor, came in at a whopping 7 lbs. 1 oz! Caroline is perfect, but unfortunately, Connor's little lungs are underdeveloped and he's in the NICU, probably for a couple more weeks. I'll be trying to help provide meals for the family in the coming weeks, but my plan is to do my cooking only on UDs, and share our meals with them. It may be challenging sometimes, but I totally believe I can do this without getting off track. :D

Awwwwww, new TWIN grandbabies!!!! How super fun is THAT?!??!!!! Congrulations grandmumma!!!!! congratulations on the wonderful maintenance with Juddd as well!!! I will never tire of hearing how well maintainers do with this plan. YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!!!!! ENJOY this special time!!!!!!!

gotsomeold 10-20-2013 04:16 PM

Laurie, congratulations on the having twin grandbabies! I will be praying Connor comes home healthy and happy very soon.

Life has been very busy and very stressful for me since I called goal at 128 October 2012. In the interim I have learned many things...including:

"Hunger is not an emergency" is not a saying, it is a livable truth. And, as you say, JUDDD just keeps rocking along. Maintenance has been - almost a non-event.

I was terrified of maintenance. I was sure, once again, the weight would creep back on. I am really glad I took my time when losing and concentrated on learning what my body wants and needs....and what it thinks it wants or needs...and how to tell it all apart.

One year does not a lifetime of maintenance make. But, golly, it is a great start!!!!

Oh, yes, I still rotate. My pattern is more like UD-DD-UD-MD-UD-DD-UD-MD because it turns out I lose too much if I don't watch out.

Hugs to everyone!!!!!!

LoCarbGal 10-20-2013 04:25 PM

Laurie, congratulations! How exciting to have new twins! I'm wishing for Connor to come home soon and fully well.

Nancy, great to "see" you here! I love all you maintainers to come back and tell us how great it is. I'll pretend not to be irritated (but definitely delighted) that you have to watch out and not lose too much! My mother is having the same "problem". Ahem.

theredhead 10-20-2013 05:00 PM

Thank you for the well-wishes, everyone! And Nancy, I'm thrilled that your maintenance has been so smooth. You're right that it can become a non-event. I would have to make some effort to lose more, because I like to eat so much on my up days. I could do it, though. But I'm not complaining. :-)

Congratulations, Laurie, on your grandbabies. It is so hard to have a baby in the NICU (I speak from long ago experience), but he'll be home before you know it. I'm keeping him in my thoughts. It's so inspiring that you've kept to your goals through stressful times.

Nancy - when I first started JUDDD in early September, I read and read and read old posts here, and you have inspired me more than you know. You continue to inspire me - now you have to watch it or you lose too much? How great is that?

Librarygirl 10-20-2013 05:47 PM

Congratulations Laurie on your new grands!!!:clap::clap: I know this must be an exciting time for you and your family.

It goes without saying how wonderful it must be to be maintaining effortlessly and peacefully. All of you maintainers are very inspiring!

Carly 10-21-2013 07:37 AM

Laurie congrats on the baby twins! I have found JUDDD maintenance to be a non-event as well.

I can't wait till you post that Conner is home and healthy!

Kissa 10-21-2013 11:04 AM

Many congratulations on the lovely new twins. I hope Connor continues to make good progress, sending hugs to you all until you have hime home.

Yes, JUDDD does rock, I love it still and even though I am fighting a few pounds just now I will never stop.

Nancy, so very, very good to see your happy dancing avatar.

Just an update on the baby....Connor is improving! His mom and dad got to hold him yesterday for the first time. They weaned him off the ventilator, intending to put him back on the C-PAP, but he was doing so well, they put him on a high-pressure oxygen nasal canula. His oxygen level is still at 35% (we breathe 21%), but they hope to slowly wean him off. He's a week old today, and we're hoping he can come home in another week, or so. Thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers!

Flutter 10-22-2013 09:05 AM

That is fantastic news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Can't wait to see pictures. I'm so happy he's improving.

I was so pleasantly shocked that Connor was COMPLETELY off his O2 yesterday morning, and breathing all on his own. He's progressing quickly! My daughter got to feed him part of a bottle of her milk for the first time yesterday. He'd been getting all his feedings through a tube until then.

It's possible he'll get to come home this weekend! My original post was on Sunday, and at that time, we thought Connor might be in the NICU a couple more weeks! I thank God for His goodness, and I thank you for your prayers.

Flutter 10-24-2013 09:20 AM

Wahooooo!!! I am so happy for you all!!!!

Laurie,

Oh, I am so happy for you and your new grandbabies. What a beautiful gift and I can feel your excitement. Can only imagine all the cute little things you'll be making for them.

So glad that Connor is improving and will be home soon.

With vacations and such, maintenance is rocking for me, also; putting on a few lbs, and then getting it down within a week.

dawnyama 10-25-2013 10:12 AM

:congrats:

What wonderful news Laurie!! I am so happy for you :jumpjoy::jumpjoy: A new baby is a big deal, but having twins!? Twice blessed  cannot wait for baby pics. So glad Connor is doing so well.

theredhead 10-26-2013 09:30 AM

One more update on the babies!

Connor has done so well, they moved him to the regular newborn nursery and my DD and her DH got to spend yesterday and last night "rooming in" with him. DD says he nursed like a champ and is doing great. They plan to bring him home this morning! So, eleven days old, and he's ready to rock and roll.

I have to wonder if he and his sister missed each other. They've shared that womb for 37 weeks, and then they were separated. Hmmm....

I stayed with my 3 year old granddaughter, Charlotte, and baby Caroline yesterday afternoon, and although I was a little nervous about it, it went very smoothly. Caroline ate and slept. I wasn't sure how to handle putting Charlotte down for her naptime, but I ended up putting Caroline on Charlotte's bed while I read stories. It was so sweet!

Thanks again for your prayers and well-wishes. I'll sign off this topic now, lol.

Oh, here are a couple of pictures. I can't wait to see the two together!
